It’s getting to be that I don’t know any of the applicants. But, on a somewhat related matter, does the 17th Circuit need to be wasting money on three highly paid administrative positions that could be done by one person who is an attorney? The court admisistrator postion is unnecessary and the little work that is done by the court administrator could be one by the chief judges judicial assistant. That being said, the assistant court administrator is completely unnesessary. On the other hand, the court counsel has actual legal work that must be done by someone. The attorney who fills that postion could easily take on some of the tasks now being performed by the court administrator and assistant. Thus, it is about time that two useless, well paid administrators, be let go or reassigned to meaningful postions where they could be of some value to the circuit. We are talking about a complete waste of at least a quarter of a million dollars a year of the circuits budget that could be put to better use.

Based on recent picks, the 17th JNC is a disgrace.

They SHOULD only send up the names of the six most qualified applicants – instead they send over 6 names among which ALWAYS includes a couple POLITICAL PICKS!

And wouldn’t you know it?! The Gov. ALWAYS ends up picking the less qualified political pick.

Look at the last half dozen appointees for proof
Deprimo?! C’mon she had no business even being among the “top six” for that one,, but of course that’s what’s going on here:. The 17th JNC is corrupt – it’s already predetermined who’ll be referred up and which one the Gov. will pick

Finally this blog will become entertaining again. Watching all of these incumbents start to freak out when they get an opponent and then all of the sudden start showing up at judicial and legal networking events just to save face, while we all get to pretend that we actually like them to their faces.

Don’t you guys all know how much “they care” about their community?

Imagine having to go around begging friends and strangers alike for money every 6 years to keep a cruddy low paying job. It’s humiliating. Even a 1st year Associate at a half-way decent firm makes more than a Judge but it’s true they have to work during business hours like all Americans who aren’t squeezing off the taxpayers and they usually graduate from schools that aren’t ranked in between a toilet bowl and a matchbook. Judges’ pay needs to be boosted to a living wage $275-$350 to attract high quality to the Bench with merit retention or lifetime tenure with a 20 year cap and a JQC that pays attention to hours worked and bounces the lazy slobs. Florida deserves better.

Broward judges are paid more than they’re worth as it is. Increasing judicial pay wouldn’t solve the problems with lazy judges around here. Judicial supervision is what’s called for and that starts with a chief judge who takes his or her job seriously. Unfortunately we have a chief judge that’s as worthless as most of the judges presently sitting in Broward.

Ha the most work most of them do is when they’re campaigning or greasing up the Governor’s people for appointments. If they had a practice they wouldn’t have the time for any of it. Florida deserves better.

You clearly don’t know these people personally. Perhaps SOME on this list fit your comment, but there are others that work their asses off. Being in private practice doesn’t mean anyone works harder – it just means those attorneys have the ability to legally steal from their clients by charging up the ass!

Haters gonna hate. Some are born to handle the ball. Some are born to ref. Its the way of the world. People round here need to accept reality.

I guess the judges are going to have to find another source of campaign contributions, or learn really fast how much it’s going to cost them to keep their cushy jobs ! Lol
