The idiots at Bacdl can’t even spell the names of the Judges they’re sucking up to.

Butin’s been kissing azz for as long as I can remember and it’s gotten him nowhere but laughed at. The rest of the list is not any better. You’d think their lips would be sore by now.
Some punks will do anything for some recognition.

    Agreed.
Kroll is the only bigger ass kisser than Butin.

The two of them LIVE for brown nosey trophies like that.

Of that group, only Terry Moons qualifies. The others are judges and SHOULDN’T BE GIVEN AWARDS BY a lame kiss ass group

No wonder Diaz is looked upon as being so lazy. He must have to spend most of the day on the toilet.

Actually it should go to whoever that Lindsay person is for Declining.

    Best. Decision. Ever.

Twas a particularly bitter St. Patrick’s Day for one racist cow!

    Oh. How sweet it is

You are really obsessed with her. It’s sad that you are alone. You have no family. No significant other. Is that why you obsess over her so much? Seriously- dude- get a hobby or try online dating. You are so sad.

      1. 5

        2

Woo Hoo! Pissed you off, huh?

But you see, that was the whole point:
If you fuck w the wrong person, that person can turn it around on you – which is what has happened. Now you get to deal w the stress.

Never did I imagine it would get this far but it’s fun to sit back and just watch as the fat one crumbles and cries under the stress of her own doing.

        1. 2

          2

First of all- this isn’t her. Lol. Second of all- this is all the fun in your life? That is sad. Nothing is going to happen to her. Especially when they see what a loser you are and how obsessed you are with her. It borders on creepy. Do you have a shrine to her in your house? Voodoo dolls of her? Why don’t you try online dating dude? Maybe you won’t be alone and have something else to take up your time? Or have you tried online dating and no one can get past the first date? You are alone and depressed and that is why you obsess over a woman that has a family and kids- and I’m sure doesn’t think about you as much as you obsess about her.

Hmm, but the writer still seems to have pissed you off?

And how can you throw ‘loser’ stones at the writer while you yourself are sitting there responding to each comment?

            1. 2

              2

Lol. Because everyone knows you are alone. I’m sure Covid has been hard on you. No friends, no family, no significant other. So sad to be you. All you have in life is to follow someone else and cheer at other people’s misfortune- that makes you a sad person. I do feel sorry for you. Alone- with no one that cares about you. Arríele will be fine no matter what happens with this. She has a family and friends that care about her. You are a sad lonely soul that has no one. I feel bad for you.

Do you even know how bar complaints work? Clearly you don’t. Didn’t they teach you that after the big one you caved on? “I lost an election so I’m making bar complaints.” 🤣 Brown suit baby.

I’m surprised they didn’t give it to Michael Gottlieb or Raag Singhal. Usually when a former good defense lawyer gets elevated to a high elected or appointed office, they get recognized. Obviously Gelin has pissed too many people off to get it. As to why Kimok or Weekes wouldn’t get it either though for their likewise strong advocacy against racism is disappointing.

      1. 7

        1

Kimok is a trial lawyer. Gordon is not. This is an award for Trial lawyers. Gotlieb is also a good trial attorney and so was Raag. I’m surprised with all these good candidates we get this list of people no one knows.

        1. 3

          1

The Association has been completely spineless throughout Covid. Every other important issue throughout the years too. Spineless. There’s little membership because of it. The young people who do participate vote for their friends on the Board. The old retired White men push for their own friends like David Smith, Barry Butin and Jeremy Kroll. This one should have been Kimok. He’s tried more serious cases the last few years than Moons, Butin or Kroll have in a decade. He also spoke Truth to Power and should have won the election.

All those old white shitbag losers that call the shots at BACDL are jealous as all hell at Judge Singhal so he won’t win until they’re out of the picture.

      2. 3

        1

If you want to give the Gulkin for fighting racism, look no farther than The Untouchables. While everyone sat on the sidelines, Raag and Charlie fought the Raiders. Everyone else, including Howard, defended the cops.

BACDL CONTINUES TO BE AN UNENDING EMBARRASSMENT AS EVIDENCED BY THIS LIST OF LOSERS

HATS OFF TO LAWRENCE FOR DECLINING THE JOKER CARD

  6. 6

    1

Barry Butin has struggled with social approval for years. An unfortunate result of mediocrity. Trading any dignity for acceptance has gotten him squat.

  7. 13

    1

What a weird list. What an unimaginably weird list. What is wrong with BACDL? Siegel of all the members of the bar?! How? Why? What has he done but give maybe the worst trial anyone has ever gotten? The guy is not paying attention half the time, can’t rule on objections because he’s not paying attention, has literally fallen asleep during trial. What the heck are you guys doing?

    1. 11

      1

Not to mention—who the fuck is Lindsey Lawrence?! What has she done in her extremely short career to qualify for Gulkin?! I remember when the gulkin award was prestigious. It’s a joke now. Wow.

          1. 1

            5

Actually, I would say Reres 100% deserved it, but was not part of the good old boy club. The sad thing is he never would have been considered except for the dispute with Finkelstein. So that’s to clarify.

        1. 1

So much for a Mickey Mouse award. BACDL lost all credibility a long time ago.

Kroll is a troll of the Boogenpoop and Dudko clan who have been greasing the political pole for years. Now that they are too old to do anything but try to influence peddle, Kroll is the last troll standing.

Nobody did it like I did until I didn’t anymore…

  8. 12

Linsey Lawrence is the treasurer of BACDL and Allari Dominguez is the secretary. Is BACDL now just handing awards to its own board? At least this Lindsey person had enough sense to not be part of that. How sad that this award seems meaningless now.

    1. 9

      0

Butin was the Treasuerer for years too. And Kroll mostly handles misdemeanors. I never heard of Moons doing much. Judge Porth never did defense work ever? Did Judge Siegel? Bob Wills and Jim Lewis and people like that that have earned it don’t have a chance. They’re too busy trying heavy cases every day still for like 35 years. The Harry Gulkin means nothing just like BACDL is nothing.

      1. 6

        0

They’re not up sleazy judge’s asses either. The problem has arisen because there are too many defense attorneys shouldering up to too many judges playing the old paradigm of you wipe my ass and I’ll wipe yours.
BACDL means little in the way of its original intent because it’s become incorporated into the Good Ole Boys routine.
Welcome to Broward where the hoods still hold the strings.

      2. 2

And why is nobody mentioning the lacklusteress Teresa-super- candidate for SA, a useless waste of flesh and boners.

  9. 8

    1

It seems safe to say this will be an event for Jeremy Kroll. Nothing against him either but the Gulkin seems nothing more than a trophy for those connected to the Michael Satz mainstream that’s the core of the organization.

  10. 8

    1

Harry would be appalled at the lack of talent, dedication and balls that have been attached to this award in his memory.

    1. 3

      8

Barry is as qualified as anyone else. Probably more. Barry Butin deserves this. He kept BACDL alive. After Jabb and the Sun Sentinel made it not so much as it had been before. Barry was always there. He didn’t care. At every meeting. Dedication. Keeping the books. Making the dinners run smoothly. Nobody else cared half as much. Or put in the time. His legal work is as good as anyone else that won before too. He wasn’t a self-promoter. So he din’t win before. There’s more reason to support Barry B. I hope he wins. He’s selfless.

      1. 1

        1

Barry has kissed more bupkis longer than anyone I can think of. That alone should make him the winner.

  11. 3

    5

We’ve got to do better than this … None are qualified but Moons. The others are political pimp brown nosers.

  12. 5

Why be surprised? It went one time to someone because he stood up to Mike’s enemy Howie in the psychologist lawsuit situation. It also went to Mike’s law school roommate. It went to one person that got caught giving money to a witness. Heck the plaque with the winners on it hung prominently in the courtroom of the worst Judge in history for the defense in Broward. That Judge did whatever he wanted and no one said boo. It should be named the Michael Satz Award for crying out loud. For never rocking the boat and shrugging your shoulders in the face of criminal justice system racial inequalities.

    1. 4

Harold Pryor isn’t a Defense Attorney, but Gordon Weekes is and is the first African-American elected to Public Defender.

That BACDL didn’t think to acknowledge this history being made is what BACDL has always been.

      A tool of oppression.

      1. 15

        0

Weeks didn’t try cases and hid behind Howie who didn’t try cases either. Don’t think you could ever call him a defense attorney. For that matter, he’s not much of a Public Pretender either. Just a Pretender in general.

          1. 0

            1

He’s here as long as he wants. The jury’s out on Pryor though. He didn’t win on a landslide by any measure.

      2. 9

        0

Isn’t it an award for good TRIAL skills? When has Gordon ever tried a case?

          1. 0

            6

It’s for achievement. That’s why Alan Schreiber (elected), Howard Finkelstein (elected), Judge Pole (elected), Judge Kogan (elected), George Allen (Civil Rights Lion), Judge Fogan (elected), and Diane Cuddihy (freed the innocent) and others were honored. So I agree. It’s a shame they couldn’t honor Mr. Weekes.

            1. 4

              0

Skip the bench. When in doubt, you could always find me on the golf course …

            2. 2

              0

If it’s not for good trial skills or good lawyering- then I agree Weekes could be in the running. He is an elected official. So is the award for getting elected? Or is it for something else? Seriously curious as to why he should be honored. Besides getting elected- what has he done to merit it?

            3. 2

              2

Cuddihy selectively frees the innocent with a healthy dose of complicity with SAO on case they fear will expose too much corruption to sell out.

It’s a Satzite infested snakepit. The last election cycle was a nightmare. I bet they’re all moving to North Carolina now.

If there was an honest Defense Bar in Broward doing its job there wouldn’t have been so many scandals over all these years with so many lives (Defendants) and careers (Judges) ruined. If there’s no checks and balances the powerful become their own worst enemies and the reckless ones always end up destroying themselves. While there will never be a Chief Judge that will ever hold Judges (aka “Voters”) accountable there must be a Defense Bar to help them stay in check. The Judges don’t realize it but they need a Defense Bar. Since there never has been one the Judges in Broward County have become a national laughingstock and the system has been super duper whacked out as far as locking up Black Men.

            5. 18

              3

How about bending over and taking it up the backside from the bar. Can I get an award for that?

              1. 3

                8

                Man, you’ve always been jealous.

Hey, if you had stood up to Aleman and signed your name to it, maybe YOU could have been Front Page of the Sunday NY Times.

Instead, you will have to sit on the sideline and comment on all the others.

                1. 10

                  2

Ha! Who is jealous of that guy? He caved in the end. Admitted he did wrong.

                  1. 4

                    3

                    Who? Well, you are, obviously.

And for good reason: the guy got incredible publicity very few attorneys get. And he has like eight hat trick awards for having won so many trials, just to start.

                    1. 3

                      6

Ouch, and to someone like you (so jealously upset over the guy) it must have REALLY stung when you saw his published net worth during his bid for judge (over $800k!)

                    2. 6

                      3

That is all you have. You are old and alone. No one respects you. I haven’t heard of you being in trial ever- so no idea what you are talking about. Hat trick!? For what? Most trials dodged? Seriously- the voters didn’t want you either.

                    1. 5

                      2

Taking on a judge and signing his name to it –
How come they ain’t no mo of that badassery going on round here?

Y’all just a bunch of sidelined pussies – handing each other trophies

                    2. 6

                      1

“Taking on a judge” you aren’t a a badass- you caved and admitted you did wrong. “Bad ass” would have been you fighting it. Seems like you are the pussy.

                2. 11

                  2

not jealous of some loser that can’t make enough to pay his rent.
conman conway “always after me lucky charms”

                  1. 2

                    6

Dam! That’s who this Conway guy is?!
So good looking AND a net worth of over $800k ?!

No wonder someone is so insanely jealous

                    1. 8

                      1

It’s so sad that you think 800k is such a high net worth for a lawyer way past his prime. But ok. It’s also not a good look to be calling yourself good looking. No one is jealous of you.

                    2. 11

                      0

                      Over $800k?!?

That’s a sad net worth for someone who has been practicing law for 25 years.

Oh, but wait… According to your 2020 filing, you listed your net worth as $648k not even $800k. And what’s this? Part of that $648k net worth is a house you list as worth $275k. A rather nice markup from the $215 sale price just 4 months before.

Truth time. Bottom feeder living off court appointments and struggling to pay rent. Conway the conman.

                  2. 1

                    1

The only thing more important to you than your jealousy of Conway is your incessant desire to recreate history.

Everyone familiar with the case knows that the Florida Supreme Court asked for briefs on the issue.

In the end the Supreme Court sided with the Bar but you can have your own version of how things went down if it makes you feel better.

Be sure to read the front page Sunday edition of The New York Times for a recap of what actually happened or keep pretending in your own mind your version since it makes you feel better

                      0

Keep telling yourself that. We know it’s you posting here trying to defend yourself. No better than your weak courtroom defenses.
At least you learned not to post your name since you bravely caved into the bar. I’m surer you enjoyed paying them the costs. Looser.

Counting on Broward Judges to be revenue raisers for sloppy bacdl schmoozers is drying up fast, and its going to get a lot worse. These same people will be running against sitting judges when their terms are up to make up for the shortfall. Bet on it. The practice of Criminal Law in Broward has been reduced to coin. You can thank these same mediocre judges for the crisis of confidence.
If they hit the bench more than twice a week for a couple of hours, we might be able to accomplish something for our clients. But thats not the case here in Broward.

    1. 11

      2

Don’t poo poo this but I am very concerned for the safety of people once things are fully reopened. The Broward judiciary has had a real problem in the past with substance abusers that like to drive while intoxicated. I don’t know if there’s been safeguards put into place, such as substance abuse awareness classes or anger management, but when the stress of handling all these myriad of delayed cases occurs after reopening there may be some on the judiciary that self-medicate and drive.

Is there something that can be done such as putting breath alcohol detectors at the exit doors of the judiciary exits. There could also be urinalysis stations for prescription drug abusers.

I stress the fact that in the past an innocent human being could have been badly injured or killed by an intoxicated member of the judicary such as the one that crashed into a parking lot fence or the one that crashed into another vehicle whilst drinking on a return trip from rehab residency.

I know it might be expensive but why risk such a problem when prudency is most important at this time. The Broward Bar Association could pay for it. This is very troubling afterall.

      1. 6

“breath alcohol detectors at the exit doors of the judiciary exits. ”

Shouldn’t they be placed at the entrance going into work?

Its a very valid point with the number of drunk and drug abusing judges we’ve seen go down in Broward, not to mention various psychologically related problems.
My suggestion is start at the top where the example should be set but isn’t by a chief judge that’s about as incompetent as they come.
Tuter may well hold the title for the most incompetent chief judge in Florida history.

    2. 4

BSO could handle it. But it’s not necessary. The stinking lightweights on the Bench have been weeded out. The stinking lightweights from all partd of life are the ones that ruin it for normal people. The reaon why there’s so many laws and punishments is because of lightweights ruining it for normal people. The people on the Bench now that used to do drugs and still drink aren’t stinking lightweights. They’re normal.
