BILL GELIN FOR BOG!

Bill Gelin here, with an update on my run for President of the Florida Bar.

It’s off, because there’s too much I need to learn to be able to effect meaningful change before I run for the top spot.

Accordingly, I am seeking your support for the Board of Governors, specifically Circuit 17, Seat 1.  I will be running against Jay Kim, if he seeks reelection.

The Board of Governors (BOG) pretty much runs everything, and if I’m to achieve any of the stated goals from my prior post regarding the presidency titled An Introduction, I will need the inside experience, procedural and political, that only a term on the BOG can afford.

A major thank you for the moving show of support everyone has shown me since I announced plans to seek Bar office.  My belief is stronger now than ever before that the honorable calling of law and advocacy is overwhelmingly populated by good-hearted and industrious souls.  While the general public will continue to enjoy a joke or two at our expense, as they have since at least Shakespeare’s time, I believe our reputation has needlessly suffered because of gross mismanagement and egregious miscalculations by the Bar.  A new direction is needed, and with your help, I will do everything in my power to help chart the course.

To Jay Kim and anyone else considering a run for 17/1, equal time is absolutely promised on JAABLOG, if so desired.

Lastly, also to anyone interested, and for the sake of  transparency, a centerpiece of my campaign, the email pictured below was received today from the Bar’s Rosalyn Scott.  She’s the Assistant to the President, very nice, and in charge of all electioneering questions.  Her email is rscott@floridabar.org if anyone has questions of their own.

Thank you,

Bill Gelin

We actually think that is great news.

We wondered what you were doing because we figured if you were elected, this blog would be gone, or at the least you would not be moderating it.

Now you can concentrate on that Psycho Clerk.
You should bring a civil action against her when it’s all over.

Having to lose the money she worked so hard to weasel, would really bother her.

Bill is the best thing that ever happened to this court house. We need someone like him at the BAR

Ask Jay Kim why his firm hosted a 10 year anniversary party with the judges despite the fact that the firm had it been together a few years.

Ana la Cubana, one hot tamale. I loved doing her over and over and over, she’s insatiable.

Party with a bunch of lightweights, half a xanny and a Zima and they’re in the bag (and behind the wheel) Lightweights ruin it for normal people.

I’ve known Jay Kim for more than 20 years. He has integrity, is hardworking, is very smart, and is an all-around great guy. I’m all for elections and having choices, but from what I’ve seen Kim is a good example of what is right with Broward’s Bar.

Jay Kim, you have my whole-hearted support. We don’t need an arrogant, self-centered, entitled asshole on the BOG.

It’s reporters like this that help perpetuate the problem with these judges.

      The JQC made the decision,

      UNBELIEVABLE. WHAT A RAG PAPER!

Rosemary: You should have done your research on his party affiliation prior to questioning him. Shame on you. And, you assert you have no hidden agenda. What a joke. I have never read an editorial page more liberal and Democratic leaning (and Republican bashing) than yours. Bobby.

You mean, except when that liberal/democratic leaning editorial page endorsed Mitt Romney for President in 2012? Huh, what? Do your research – Try Again.

Bill: Your initial decision to run for President of The Florida Bar was obviously made without any real thought on your part. You have now realized that your decision was a mistake. Are you making another mistake in deciding to run for the BOD and have you really thought that decision through? Bobby.

What are the candidates for BOG’s positions in regards:
    1. Reproductive rights.
    2. Immigration
    3. Gun control.
    Thanks.

Excellent idea, Bill. You would bring a great degree of respectability to an otherwise hopelessly grimed-up politically pernicious BAR and do an expose’ on every meeting and post it on the blog for public consumption. I’ll be your first signature. Count on it. These punks are so busy greasing each other they won’t know what to do when you bring your brand of honest integrity into the mixture of backslapping puff balls.

Having this storm named after me is a bigger thrill than having my law school buddy turn out to be Governor, Vic
