Word on the street is the powers that be are thinking about trying to open Thursday. This will be a titanic mistake

People are struggling to get back into town. FPL has already informed the mayor and I’m sure the chief judge is aware that many of the law offices east of SE 3rd ave will not have power til the weekend and tenants are barred from the premises of the fazio properties until power is restored

No purpose is served by having court Thursday and Friday communications are still not operating properly All the motions and final cops set on Thursday’s and Friday’s are going to require police officers to come in and testify when they have far more important duties

Opening the courts while schools are closed is going to put thousands of people on the roads which are not cleared and in some cases have no functioning traffic signals. The mayor of
Broward has been on tv repeatedly telling people to stay off the roads so fpl and cleanup can continue unimpeded opening the courts this week serves no purpose what are all the people going to do about child care when schools are closed. Opening the courts this week will make tenuous situation worse

The new chief judge is a highly intelligent and pragmatic man and ultimately it will be his call I can only hope that he sees the situation for what it is We are in a disaster area people are worried about where to get gas food power etc

The right decision is to keep the courts closed til Monday Give everyone involved in the system the rest of the week to organize their lives and start fresh Monday

Sometimes you need to walk in another mans shoes to fully understand. If the chief judge does this than he will see that starting Monday is the right thing to do for all

Time generally is an ally of the defendant of course there are exceptions when speedy can be used as an effective weapon but you must have all your ducks in a row

Plea offers rarely go up over time usually they go down The judge is not your boss and it is not important how they feel your first duty is to your client. The idea is to win and if you lose ,because we all do, to make the process so painful to the ASA that you get better offers from the state or the court because they both see that you’re willing to get up there and bleed for your client

Nothing will get done anyway. The slacker judges won’t show after inconveniencing everyone. We’ve seen it all before.
Rooty Tooty is just a hand-off from do nothing Chief Judge Whiney. Don’t expect much from this jarhead.

Your referring to the judge who ran the cases that were referred to as complex civil litigationBEGI

He’s the guy who tried quite a few of the tobacco cases. Do you think for one second that the big time civil firms who write lots of checks are going to allow a “jar head” to be messing with cases that the firms have millions of dollars invested in

Further I believe he went Vanderbilt University for law school I can assure you there are very few morons there so next time before you run your mouth at least have the decency to know something about the person Clearly you didn’t do your homework

The new Chief Judge has no wife and no kids. At his robing he was introduced by his secretary, with no family present. If you think this guy cares about people and their personal family problems, you are in la la land. Business is business. They will reopen tomrrow.

It’s no secret about Tooty. Lifestyle is a choice. But get your head out of your azz. Make no mistake, he ain’t gonna run a bunch of slacker Broward judges with any military precision.
These bums have shown their worth and it ain’t much. He’s no different. So don’t expect much because that’s what we’re gonna get from another petty bureaucrat in jackboots. Especially on weekends. Lol

Please I disagree. Open it Thursday. We all have work to do and I haven’t gotten a decent night’s sleep since the law library has been closed.

Is it safe to eat a frozen pizza that’s all defrosted now cause no power in freezer if I cook it on my barbecue grill? It’s only a little wet.

It depends. Is there meat on the pizza? If there is, or for any meats around that are now defrosted over the last few days, test it by feeding a little to a dog (yours or a neighbors-many are out walking theirs to get out of the house so slip them a treat). If no sickness, then it’s safe to eat.

      Stay safe everyone!

Because of Irma I had to clear out my freezer when everything went soggy and lo and behold I found a pack of Costco hamburger patties that I bought the same week my power went back on after Wilma.

Alcalde using this tragedy to talk about how much she “misses” public service. Barf. Make no mistake- she is planning on running against him.

Mike stayed during the hurricane to protect the community. All the “me first” electeds and candidates who ran for cover should be shown the door.

Yes. Satz is the better candidate and person. Using this tragedy to talk about how she “misses” public service is a new low.

Oh please. That man stayed because he has no where to go. No wife, kids, family, a fake 30 yr old girlfriend to look good for the black voters. Be serious. If Alcalde runs, great, she would be good for the community. If not, I hope someone else who can win runs. Satz is a dinosaur who runs that office like its the 50s. He needs to go.

I hear that new girlfriend has some great financial investments to get you in on. If she is dating the State Attorney it must be legit.
