BULLDOG WEIGHS IN

Under the gun of a new discipline rule, Florida lawyers had better keep judges happy…or else

By Noreen Marcus, FloridaBulldog.org, October 31st:

Judges who want to punish lawyers for any reason now have a superpower that can derail careers, courtesy of the Florida Bar and the Florida Supreme Court …

“This was all cranked up by activist political judges,” said a lawyer who is familiar with the disciplinary system but has not personally been disciplined … “Passing things like this undermines public confidence in the judiciary.” …

Reacting to misconduct in their courtrooms, judges trust themselves to police the Bar more than they trust the Bar to police itself. That’s at least one law professor’s take on the situation …

The court’s Oct. 21 ruling “suspends all time periods, so there’s a sword of Damocles over your head and you have no right to a speedy resolution,” Lawyer B said …

Let me get this straight. Under the new terms a Judge that smokes illegal pot in the park near children could file a complaint and run a lawyer off? A multiple DUI Judge could do the same? A Judge that lies about a Death Penalty case can do the same?

I think attorneys have to trust the bar that if a bad actor judge is abusing the process they’ll be referred to the jqc.

And if you are that stupid or ignorant enough to blee dat, you must never have filed either type well documented complaint or be an insider–go-to clown.

Trust the Bar ? Dumbest comment so far ! I can’t think of a more idiotic rule. Undoubtedly, it will lead to the filing of more JQC Complaints, so it might embolden some of these lambs who have been formerly intimidated by judicial bad behavior to step up to the plate now because they have nothing to lose.

I’ve read some stupid rules, but this one takes the cake. They obviously didn’t think this boondoggle thru. Doesn’t the Bar have enough to do collecting dues?

Why are you trying to sound black when you post? You’re as bad at that as you are a NOVA grad lawyer.

Is it Time to dissolve the Florida Bar?
My Labor Law Professor at University of Florida once said this
” The Florida Bar is a forced labor union in a right to work state”
You can not be made to join a union to work in Florida
    except the bar???
Unions are often associated with Blue Color workers, so most lawyers do not think of the Bar in union terms. But that is exactly what it is.

There is nothing special about a lawyers discipline that makes it any different from a Doctor , Dentist, Accountant etc.
all professions , except lawyers, are under the department of business regulation
