BUSTED!

High profile ASA Stacey Honowitz has been accused of some sort of criminal activity.

We received tips via JAABLOG’s Anonymous Tip Box (found in the upper right corner of the blog) over the weekend, alleging something along the lines of theft in Aventura.  Mainstream media has been made aware, so details should be forthcoming soon.

Honowitz has yet to respond to our text messages …

(Thanks to Anonymous Tipsters)

*UPDATE*: the following email is from Constance Simmons, public information officer for the SAO.  In response to specific questions regarding the nature of the allegations, the SAO has not answered:

**UPDATE II**:

Aventura Police officers were called to the supermarket, located at 18995 Biscayne Blvd., after the staff at the store claimed to have caught Honowitz shoplifting.

Pathetic chick. You couldn’t improve this chick’s looks with an oil based exterior paint. Get her a bag instead. It’s cheaper and then I don’t have to see her in court. Of course you still hear that shrill ear piercing voice.
Can her and do the rest of us a favor.

SO STICKY FINGERS HONOWITZ GETS SMACKED THIS TIME
HIGH RATES OF RECIDIVISM WITH THESE CLOWNS 🤡
KEEP HER ON A SHORT TETHER AND FINGERPRINT HER

Dade County one gets arrested for pilfering a Snickers at Publix.

Broward County, one can threaten to kill a Judge and no charges.

      Thanks Satzy

Smug little twat employed by the SA charging others with crimes while pinching cheap makeup at Publix ? What’s wrong with this picture ?
Clean up your own yard before you squeeze the pimples of your neighbors twat … then go easy on the grease. The rest of us need a break.

She was probably “borrowing” a pair of those hooker heels that she stomps around in and actually thinks in her head look good.

When’s the next vid of this bimbo coming out. I understand they caught her from several cameras. The only thing that slipped thru the cracks was this chick a very long time ago. They should have put her felony case filing with the rest of the looney tunes.

It would take a whole bag full of nuts to shut her big mouth !!!
This is pretty funny. Thanks for making my day. Everybody is laughing about it today in court.

        1. 7

          1

There is a YouTube video of her last trial. Get some popcorn. She is a disaster. One would laugh if it wasn’t because the family of the dead victim get no real justice with her doing that case. She is the worst trial attorney in that office. No business doing trials.

                1. 9

                  0

Wait until you get to the point when she ID the defendant. Or when she doesn’t know how to open evidence bags. Or her DNA bad reading of direct questions. Or the 7 minute closing! So much mess!

    1. 11

      2

Patyl is not in the same category as Honowitz. Although she has always been obsessed with her. Honowitz (hate her or love her) is an amazing trial attorney. Patyl is a joke. Defense attorneys all laugh if they get her on a case. She always told everyone how great she is- then the YouTube video of her trial skills came out for all to see. Now she can’t deny that her trial skills are less than a 1st year law student. She is horrible. She lost a homicide case. She embarrassed herself. She embarrassed the office.

      1. 17

        0

That office is beyond embarrassment. Look at the record. Look at the never ending personnel scandals. Look at the acquittal rate. Look at the wrongful convictions. Look at the racism. Look at the turnover rate. Look at the man in charge that they are all afraid to stand up to.

        1. 4

          0

As far as personnel scandals, the drug trafficking Drug Trafficking Unit has to be the all time best, eclipsing the dirty death penalty oops! they found 3000 text messages trial.

          0

No wonder all of the decent ones have left over the past 3 years or so. No not you Patyl you’re a nightmare. Putting tony in charge won’t fix it. Need a clean slate.

Unprofessional posting! Anonymous tips and vague accusations! If and when you have credible information that can be confirmed, feel free to post. Stacey Honowitz has served Broward County for decades and has an excellent reputation as a lawyer and a woman. What was the purpose of this post beyond generating gossip? The lack of integrity in this is appalling.

    1. 24

      0

Unprofessional ? This old chick has worked prosecuting people in the State Attorney’s for twenty years and is caught on surveillance tape at Publix pinching merchandise and that’s professional? Who is kidding who. They should slap her hard for this one.
Don’t they pay herenough to feed herself or what ? Lol

Unless she is the one proceeding on the same type of “anonymous tip “ or “vague accusations “. Then it’s “OKAY”.

Oh Tara whoever you are – now THAT’s the right Satzian attitude when somebody in law enforcement Gets Busted:

Deny and call it gossip in light of an actual fuckin PC affidavit!

Whoever you are, you truly are an idiot or somebody used your name to mess with you because nobody in their right mind would be that stupid.

  3. 7

    10

The original post without any confirmation was unprofessional. The jumping on the bandwagon and smearing people with nasty comments that have nothing to do with the allegations is, sadly, not unexpected. The people who delight in others difficulties show their true colors. I feel comfortable stating that as a prosecutor I have tried very hard to be generous in my assessment of individuals even when confronting horrid facts. It is what we owe each other.

    1. 16

      0

Ms. Sullivan: How many prosecutors would call theft a mistake ? They would call it theft and so would I.
I can understand if you are fond of Ms. Honowitz because you work with her, but that must not overshadow adherents to the law.
I sincerely doubt you would feel the same about some stranger if they perpetrated this crime where you were the victim.

  4. 5

    4

Why all the anonymous posts? Where is the integrity in that? Its more fun to be a nasty middle schooler on this site than an adult willing to take responsibility for what you think. And people wonder why we elected DJT???

    1. 12

Where’s the integrity in shoplifting? A sticky fingered state attorney whose turned out a couple of pamphlets on child sex abuse? Some high profile ! More like a bimbo with a self-image problem.

Most likely, having to lawyer up in the face of the Florida Bar investigation for threatening the life of Judge and falsely accusing that Judge and his father of committing felonies apparenly can quiet down even the biggest of internet tough guys.

      “The” summons.
I take it you’re referring to another story, since there would be no “summons” associated with this one.
Please let me know which story you are referring to, and cite the law saying a summons is required in that particular circumstance. If someone’s rights were violated, that would be an interesting thing to report!

      1. 2

        2

I saw that. Who else reported the specific cosmetic items that were taken? Let me know if you read it somewhere other than the Sun Sentinel.
It is true that before we had our own copy of the arrest report, we linked back to the channel 7 story. However, to say that I just copied and pasted what they recorded is a vicious lie.
Channel 7 reported nothing of what I had after I linked back to their story.
May have changed later in the day. I do not know. I stopped bleeding after I got my own copy of the arrest report.
What other news sources telling you who was with Stacy when this happened? Let me know when you have that from another source.
in the meantime, I’ll be waiting for your answer to the question about the summons that you expect me to post for some reason.

Hope you report better than you spell ! Lol
            Thanks for the info J.A.A.B.
the not so subtle amount of arrogance it takes to be clipping a Publix as a asst. state attorney is very disturbing. These are the people pressing charges on behalf of the state ? They need to vet their employees more carefully.

I am going to point out the obvious here – how many times do you suppose she did this before and either not gotten caught, talked her way out of it or badged her way out ?? She didn’t just wake up this one time and say “hey let me go steal some Axe Body Spray from the store !!” Where there is smoke there is fire . The rules are the same for everyone stinky

Hey – on the bright side of things, this is right in time for ye olde Day of Atonmemt and nothing some fasting and hard dovening cant fix (well that and lawyering up with one of Broward’s finezt criminal defense bar – )

    1. 4

      3

      Broward’s finest? Defense bar. LOL

She hired a Miami Attorney. They know how to try a case and not just whine boo hoo “the state attorney won’t make me an offer and the judge expects me to know the law- what to do, what to do, boo hoo. Guess I’ll just go complain on the blog”

  11. 5

Stacey should know better. How petty can things get if you’re reduced to allegations of having gorilla glue fingers at Publix ? Very sad.

    1. 8

      0

Nothing she could apply topically to her face could possibly improve it. What kinds of thirty year bimbos are they keeping in the stalls of the state attorney’s office anyway ? And for what ? Beauty products at 57 ? Give it a break already.

        You can’t make a silk purse from a pig’s ear …
Toss her out and give her job to somebody that plays by the rules. If she’s stealing this kind of cheap stuff, what else has she done and how many times ?

  12. 10

    7

Stacey has always been fair, she never breaks your balls on shitty cases and does the right thing. You losers who have nothing better then to sit around a mock her should try and scare up some business, instead of charging 1500 for a DUI. This town has quickly turned into a mud pit of sub par lawyering, charging nothing for a nothing job and slinging mud at anyone you possibly can to make yourselves feel better about being the bottom of the barrel loser. Not to mention that more then half of you dont have the balls to even step foot in a courtroom against her…get a life. You should take a hard look in the mirror before mocking someone for an alleged mistake.

    1. 13

      1

Get over yourself. She is an arrogant, nasty, self absorbed relic of everything that is wrong that office. Perhaps if you have your snout as far up her wretched ass as you do, you may get a slightly better result ….. but that’s not what justice is about now is it? She broke the law and yet she is sworn to uphold it. See the problem yet??

    2. 0

      2

In our opinion, a mistake is something you admit to, own up to, and pay the price.

A mistake IS NOT something you deny, and try to get out of.

      SFC

BTW, this is so all over the news, she’s done for.

  13. 18

I find it ironic that a prosecutor of thirty years should be caught in a crime of thievery of retail merchandise. What kind of thinking goes into this kind of action ? Has she learned nothing in her years of working within the Justice System ?
It cannot but bring into this equation the question of her fitness to perform one of the most important functions of our System of Justice. How can you ever have confidence in her ethics again ?

  14. 3

    0

If she did it and he doesn’t can her someone runs against him for the double standards (theft is bad/less connected ASA’s have been let go for a lot less), and if does can her she will be a nightmare for him helping his opponent.

Maybe he should simply retire and for once put Broward over himself.

Her defense attorney, Jayne Weintraub, called the Publix incident an “honest mistake.”

“She inadvertently did not pay for the cosmetics when she checked out and paid for her $130.00 groceries,” Weintraub said in a statement. “She did not even leave the store after she paid. She then purchased lottery tickets and was chatting with another customer. There was no intent to commit a crime at all.”

Five years ago, Honowitz appeared at Miami-Dade bond court when her brother was arrested on allegations he was wanted in Colorado on theft and forgery charges. During the hearing, Honowitz mentioned her job several times before the judge let her brother free from jail.

She insisted her appearance in Miami court was appropriate. “I went down there as a loving sister,” Honowitz told the Miami Herald at the time. “I just happen to be a prosecutor. This is a terrible ordeal.”

Fined and 180 hours of community service serving the underprivileged. Of course she should be fired from the state attorney’s office.

  21. 4

    4

Innocent until proven guilty. Let’s see the video. Her lawyer is saying it’s a mistake. It must be. Why compromise a chance at career saving diversion by saying that if it’s not true? That would be dumb. Let’s see the video. Probably a bunch of much ado about nothing.

  22. 13

    1

She’s just another example of everything that is wrong with that office. Entitled, self-interested lackeys who only believe in innocent until proven guilty when it applies to themselves or one of their own. I hope this is truly a misunderstanding and that stacy’s colleagues will exercise the same empathy they are now exhibiting on the defendants who will be appearing before them tomorrow.

    1. 0

      0

This lady needs to go thru the Broward system of your guilty unless you can prove yourself innocent, unless of course you are a woman arrested for domestic violence then you have to be found innocent or it costs the county federal funding because in Broward County only men commit DV

  23. 1

    0

Wallet and purse……maybe it’s in there….but when it’s time to pay for groceries or lottery tickets isn’t it seen in there…..The packaging doesn’t stand out?

    1. 5

      3

      That’s a real good point.

She paid for the grocery’s, but forgot to pay for cosmetics she put in her purse. Who shops like that anyway.

So when she paid for the grocery’s, where did she get the money from? Our guess would be the purse.

How big is this purse, is it a suitcase?

Then she does a variation of what LE calls the “Felony Stretch”.
She buys a lotto at a different cashier, BS’s with another customer awhile, seeing if she’s been had, then leaves.

Knowing who she was, LE probably would not have issued a summons if even a little doubt. Hope the surveillance video gets released.

  24. 3

    1

It’s only a crime if you get caught. Can we please get a copy of that surveillance video?

She must of had a hard time finding her wallet under those cosmetics. #honestmistake

There’s always a blind spot in the background. In her case it was a surveillance camera. Got the goods. She’s going down. And she should. The hypocrisy involved here is hard to swallow. This time she was caught red handed. All over less than fifty bucks. Cleptos have to be monitored closely. The rate of recidivism is high.

There’s really no reason to rub salt in the wound. This is embarrassing enough. Could lead to major problems for her and the Bar. It’s a very unfortunate set of circumstances.
Another problem is that this alleged incident occurred in Dade. There’s little chance of it getting smoothed over here in Broward.

“Her defense attorney, Jayne Weintraub, called the Publix incident an “honest mistake.”” Seriously, shut the fuck up and people will move on.

Do any defense attorneys around here know how to say “no comment?” She admits that she intentionally concealed the merchandise, but she was really going to pay for it and just forgot. That is about as bad as the Jerry Sandusky “I was teaching the kids how to properly shower” defense.
