COINCIDENCE?

t0001220845t0001220835

Anonymous at 9:40 AM this morning has alerted readers to two conspicuous arrests yesterday, both charged with ESCAPE/ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE and ACCESSORY AFTER THE FACT OF FIRST DEGREE FEL.

The names of the accused are Winston George Russel, Jr. and Laquay Stern.

There’s nothing in the news yet, but if the cases are related to the Resiles matter, it should come out this morning at First Appearances …

(Thanks, as always, to tipsters and commentators)

Oh screw you bill for trying to make yourself sound like a legitimate press reporter. You wouldn’t be able to have found that out on your own. If anything you owe me. Regardless, someone with less credentials than you found this out and you’re supposed to be this great force of change for the courts. Gtfo with your nonsense and your two bit wanna be law office

All I can say is I’m glad to see someone is concerned enough to get the truth out in a world of unbelievable deception and corruption in Broward. My hat is off to you for your continued efforts to clean up a morass of official ineptitude, corruption, and miss information! Keep up the good work. Too many small minded corrupt eels in the mud that is the Broward County Court System ! If the FEDs won’t clean it up, at least you’re doing your best to flush this sewer of corruption down the drain and bring a semblance of truth to your readers. I sincerely thank you !

Agree truth sucks when your court is such a carnival show that New York press covers the corruption. People still think I’m joking when I say a Judge was sleeping with the prosecutor of a murder case! Most S. Florida press either in bed with the corruption or too lazy to dig deep enough to find a real story. Bob Norman tries I’ve seen many shots of a Judges & court employees slamming doors in his face. New Times has made an effort too. No one else.

Keep this blog going. Credit to you for keeping it real!

Legit press also don’t run this piss poor excuse of a website trying to pass off for a news agency. Then again lawyers are a dime a dozen and just about anyone can be a lawyer from an online school. Lawyers are either liars or thieves. You’ll always be that annoying pos taking cases for 250 a pop pretend to do work and force your clients into a plea deal or withdraw after taking their 250 and tell the judge there’s unreconcible differences and pass him off to the PDs office. You make me sick, no wonder you got so many bar complaints and walk around like a walking rag doll from the flea market

Stay the course. Looks like the rest of the media is quoting from you because they’re too lazy to do good investigative reporting themselves. You sure were on top of this one ! I’ve found that the Sun Sentinel is in bed with too many politicians to be focused on reporting the real news.

Uh oh, that anger is usually a tell tale sign of a hater.

And referring to him as ‘great force of change for the courthouse’ is a compliment.

Typical bill, when the going gets tough you get out. Just like your excuse of a caseload that you have. Instead of doing real work you find the exit and leave your client to hang. You’re the equivalent of a textbook parasite

Honestly, even I can’t believe how easy that was! Courthouse security is an absolute joke!

The Sheriff puts actual lives in jeopardy every single day by not adequately staffing the courtrooms. We need ACTUAL deputies, not civilian bailiffs. This is an utter failure for the Sheriff and his courtroom security program.

Publicly, the Sheriff claims its a funding issue, yet the County budgets him over 20 million dollars a year for courthouse security alone! It wasn’t a lack of funding that caused this; rather, it was how the Sheriff mismanaged what was allotted to him and put people’s lives at risk.

    1. 0

      0

Indeed! There are at LEAST 30 or 40 BSO guards in the North wing alone!

Scott should’ve spent some of the $20million on Radios ….and maybe some practice drills for this type of event!

Can the Feds come in and overhaul this crap?

    2. 0

      0

It always is thrown out there that it’s a funding issue so these agencies can hold their hands out for more money, like that is going to solve the issues that Plague the Broward Courthouse. These jokers think they can use that as an excuse for their Incompetence by soaking tax payers for yet more and more. There’s no excuse for what happened in this escape attempt other than gross incompetence !

Hey, remember that time when someone just walked into the exit-only door of the courthouse with a gun. That was easy!

Oh yeah, and what was the fix for that by the way? Sit some 70 year old security guard in the corner by the door. Good job! I’m sure that geriatric G4S security guard will keep all of us safe!

Wow … look at all you haters that come to this Blog. If you don’t like what you read, then change the channel. Looks like Bill trumped the media again on another major courthouse story. I did go to college as a communications major, and it looks like a lot of sour grapes and jealousy. Most reporters that I have known could drink (and do drugs) with the best that this Broward County Courthouse has to offer. I guess it does not look good during an election to let an accused murderer walk out of your courthouse, especially on such a high profile case. I guess Sheriff Israel is a politician because it seems like no one takes any personal responsibility anymore. I will think twice when I vote in August.

Been following this blog for years. It’s been the cause for a lot of these SCUMBUCKETS hitting the skids by shedding light on judicial corruption which seems to be rampant in Broward. Official corruption is nothing new here but at least you’re confronting it head on and bringing it to the attention of the newspapers because otherwise you wouldn’t know about it at all or just get such a slanted report of it that it wouldn’t resemble the truth at all. Don’t think people don’t notice it either. I don’t care what these SLIMES have to say. If they didn’t have their fingers so far up the rectums of these greasy politicians maybe they would care as much as you do about actually doing something to clean it up.

Can someone please list who Israel’s opponents are this cycle?

And who is closest to beating Israel so ALL OF US WORKING IN THE COURTHOUSE CAN VOTE FOR HIS OPPONENT?!!

Thanks, Bobby …. I think I might do that with all of the judges and political officials in this corrupt place. Just another brokedown palace, but don’t tell me this town ain’t got no heart, it just got poked around

The Sun Sentinel learned about this at a press conference that was probably called because of the blog posting the suspects. Jose Lambiet is right when he says “it’s another story that failing corporate-owned media wish they broke. Isn’t it time you #dropthepaper?”

So called “reporters” in the age of social media are latter day travel agents. Remember what a travel agent was? At least hacks are still needed to flesh out the wounds after souces open them. Just lose the ego, ok?

I agree with the old saying that you are innocent until proven guilty, but his actions after the fact may paint a different story. Even if he was innocent of the original crime charged, won’t he be guilty for escaping custody?

Maybe the newspaper editorial board will address the security problem. The escapes happen often. The bailiffs are arrested with surprising regularlity too. The Sherrif needs support to change the system.

The entire courthouse security apparatus was outsmarted by 3 teenagers and a couple of 22 yr olds.

    Only in Broward.

Maybe if they studied hard, instead of being fed the answers from the FEMA training, then they would not be looking like the Keystone Cops. If they all cheated on this exam, then how many other trainings and exams did they cheat on. It looks pathetic for Sheriff Israel to stand up and blame the Broward Commission for what amounts to a failure in his leadership. But ain’t that America these days, where no one takes any personal responsibility. Vote out all incumbents!

Just after the escape 2 armed deputies just standing around outside the courtroom, like he might saunter out of the bathroom? I know it was hot outside but…. Seriously hope they catch these criminals & the accomplices are punished.

Get these so called bailiffs a walker and start them on an exercise program ! Most of them are too old to use a cane … What hopes they had for proving any kind of security they left in NY when they retired to Fla to start getting paid for nothing all over again.

        1. 0

          0

Or maybe they should have paid attention and not cheated on that FEMA training. G-d help us if it were a true emergency, like an escaped murderer on the loose.

I don’t like the way things are going over at BSO.
They tried to cover-up the earbuds in the McBean shooting. Gave Peraza a medal, then took it back and got him charged with manslaughter after the NY Times exposed the whole thing.
The security at the courthouse was a joke. The real problem is nobody wants to do it and the sheriff is inclined to oblige. But now he’s blaming the county commission. Im old enough to remember when BSO deputies manned the entrances and the courtrooms. That was under Navarro. At times, he shut down the whole show. Then there’s all the other stuff with Costa and those trumped up charges and ridiculous bail, plus all these bailiffs getting arrested, and the recent thing with the 22 year old deputy driving around in a cruiser all tripped out on LSD. BSO is just a cluster fuck right now. Lucky for Israel that nobody formidable is running against him.

    I’ve got it.

Broward court security uses 911 for the gossip line and another designation for an “emergency.” After all 911 is to report what a women saying, is wearing, her hair, her makeup, and to call her supervisor to make sure they know she is out of court, right?

This has been done to me, my clerk, and my probation officer to the point where she had a stroke. Some day this evil XX will get his due.

“Judge Lightweight” is hardly the problem! At least “judge lightweight” is easy on the eyes and well put together! These fat, lazy assed old POS bailiffs are the problem. The whole courthouse is a joke.

Stop paying ridiculous overtime money for depositions. An officer comes in for a 20 minute depo and thy can get 4 hours worth of overtime. It’s a part of their job. A part of my job is driving to courthouses and jails. Even after hours. That should save a lot of money in the budget.

    1. 0

Great point! Stop the overtime pay for simply attending depos unless it is their day off – it’s part of their job (oh but so is guarding the criminal courthouse)

    http://www.browardbeat.com/foolish-sheriff-scott-israel-ducks-responsibility-for-prisoner-escape/

Sherriff Israel wants to phase out bailiffs and replace them with a combination of sworn law enforcement and detention deputies. The price for a sworn deputy is nearly twice that of a bailiff. The County has balked for years now at the number of sworn personnel needed to adopt this Palm Beach model of courthouse staffing.

On Friday, there were a total of 15 sworn officers working at the entire judicial complex. That was “fully staffed” — that that is the entirety of sworn personnel the County was willing to pay for.

The sheriff says we need at least one DLE deputy and one civilian bailiff for now (with the bailiffs to be replaced by detention deputies over time, so as to ease the phase in time for the County’s price tag) in every critical courtroom. To date, we cannot get agreement from the County even on this compromise proposal.

Sheriff Scott is a blame shifting pussy.

Before he gets any more millions from taxpayers, he needs to inform the County Commission how many times they ran drills and actually trained for ‘runners’??! (never)

This was a job for RADIOS, not Guns …all it woulda took was some radio signals to secure the exits. Shit even in medieval times they knew how to raise the drawbridge!

Sheriff pussy blame-shifter’s solution? “Give me more money and guns so we can shoot them” you ass-wipe, all you needed was a RADIO!

Just wait till the investigation reveals how in all the ctrooms (porter’s ctroom for example) the BSO guards in there didn’t even know about the escape until an attorney in there showed the judge and the BSO guard.

The incident is accurate. The family dropped charges as long as he went to counseling, anger management, and substance abuse classes. If you think that article is interesting you should go pull his internal affairs file. You will see exactly what type of person he is. Makes for very interesting reading. All 12 of them. They are all public record.
