Imagine if Justice Thomas or another solid conservative said all this. The Sun Sentinel and their lib media counterparts would be calling for their heads on an endless media doom loop. Farmer’s the Left’s boy so he gets a pass. The typical woke hypocritical nonsense that’s ruined America.

If you’re truly honest, how about pointing out the vindictive temper tantrum throwing petulant child.this has proven to be immoral, unethical multi indicted multi criminally charged sexual deviant who is old and losing his mind that takes zero responsibility who instead plays victim & husband apologists keep kissing his fat behind while blaming others?

Nothing surprises me when it comes the this goofball! Lol
Why the worst judges always wind up here is the worst joke of all. We have so many who have diarrhea of the mouth we should hand out Imodium as a prerequisite to sitting on the bench.

ANOTHER FORMER BROWARD JUDGE THAT COULDNT KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT

Did someone say Judy? I thought you meant Broward’s political darling Judy Stern. The most honest political consultant in all of the land. Sorry, wrong Judy.

She’s a sleazy scumbag that used to partner with A-Turd before the bottom fell out of their lowlife political consult racket. Now she’s an old hag dragging a garbage bag around behind her with matzo ball soup in it.

Would an appointed Broward judge have been desperate enough to put false information in their bio??

A claim of being a Student /Athlete at an athletic powerhouse university has them scratching their heads as this judge was never in any media guides, yearbook photos or listed on any teams that competed in NCAA sports nor ever won a letter for athletic achievements.

Wonder if they embellished about high school glee club, debate team and Student Council on college applications?

        No
40 yrs and never known any Broward Jd to have been a stud athlete.Played b ball with Speiser on beach but all he brought was a fat butt he tried to throw around and was SLOW as molasses
Waiting to see if this Jd takes down their claim which the university seems to desire.

Numerous strong athletes over the years in the Broward judiciary, many of whom coached at various schools in their part time. Just because they had nothing to do with you doesn’t mean they weren’t there.

Certainly may be the case and volunteering to coach kids is to be applauded but for someone seeking the easier path to a job paying 200k plus to seek the truth ought not belie the truth regarding their qualifications

            What’s good for the goose….

            1. 2

              1

“the easier path” lol. Not quite.

Spoken like most things on this blog by those who have no experience. Election in Broward requires no qualifications. Fake name (like Jenkins becoming Forman), fake (or true) allegiance to Democrats. County has over 500,000 registered Democrats and fewer than 300,000 registered Republicans. Easy to see why a Farmer would win.

The effort to see who believes in a candidate by asking for campaign cash, the work ethic to knock on doors tirelessly to sell yourself, seeing one’s organizational skills etc might draw a higher quality judge than someone who merely is good at kissing rearends for how ever long that path to the bench takes
Probably will not go over well barring tier 4 diploma mill grads especially with Nova just down the street

                1. 3

                  0

LOL “knock on doors tirelessly to sell yourself”. Yeah that makes a great judge. Give me a break. If that’s what it takes, all our judges would be Jehovah’s Witnesses.

What else are they going to do that involves a two day work week and then only until noon where you’re overpaid and answerable to nobody ? It’s a good gig even if you’re got to spend the rest of your life kissing ass.
These are not legal scholars we’re talking about. Just sliders that could never make it in private practice or lifelong government gophers who have groveled for peanuts.

Let’s see how honest you really are…….

How about the nauseating allegiance to a proven fraud that was 45 and wants to be 47?

Played for a semester on the Dallas Harlequins rugby CLUB
Probably would have kept going if I had been a scrum half but was relegated to whatever position spent their time with head tucked between a very sweaty guys legs lol ugh

But the real fun was the gallons of beer and dinking songs that came after the game

The term student athlete was coined when the NCAA was formed and was attributed to inter scholastic NCAA sports of which rugby is not one
Not a biggie but a clear embellishment

          1. 0

            0

Lots of studies show a linkage to alcohol abuse and alcoholism amongst the club sport of rugby which apparently has kept it a club sport not a varsity sport

But most likely with time that will change

The sport is growing amongst women

The alcohol connection might have caused concerns in academia and NCAA to elevate it from a club sport

Loved my black and green checked Harlequins shirt

Biggest problem are ex football players trying to bring brute strength versus finesse of passing and nuances of rugby

            1. 2

              1

I think alcoholism amongst the Judge’s has subsided since 10-15 yrs ago. They’re mostly together in the head now, and I believe it’s attributable to the fact they earn decent money now and want to keep the job and because of Rumpole and Jaab type oversight.

Does governor really take heed to self aggrandizement of so called honor societies from college days of old that the candidate put themselves up for based on 6 hours of class work with a B avg in a certain course of study??

Don’t know about you, but my stomach hasn’t been the same since the night of the event. I have suffered from extreme stomach discomfort and reoccurring bloating and abdominal pressure I believe caused by the dinner I consumed that night. Normally I never have any problems, but I swear something was wrong with the food served that night.
Just wondered if anybody else has exhibited the same symptoms. Give me the heads up if you’ve had any of the same problems.

    1. 6

Scherer’s picture’s there. How funny. She was the same. She showed up willy nilly too. Judge Tuter or Admin Judge Fein or whomever. They let them do whatever they want. There’s no accountability from Admin until there’s a monumental screwup. Then 17 takes a public beating. JQC or legacy media. Because Admin fails every time by turning a blind eye to ongoing problems until the inevitable crash and burn. Admin fails Broward.

He was as close to a Renaissance Man Broward has had. Prosecutor, Judge, Defense Attorney, Writer, Actor, and award winning Producer of film and television. The choice to name it after him was obvious.

The lame BACDL types overlook Harry’s true passion: film making

Gulkin has a whole Wikipedia entry on it.

While the rest of us pack bowls after court, Harry was out there moonlighting as a film maker.

                2. 3

                  1

I think they made him up because at the time they needed an award ceremony like they had in Miami and picked this person because he sounded like a lawyer’s name.

                      0

So are Gulkin’s films. My favorite is
                      “Lies My Father Told Me”.
It is felt that Harry made that film to get back at his parents for tricking him into becoming a BACDL type lawyer (“son,” they told Harry in the finest line of the film, “become an average lawyer and you, too, can reap the benefits of referrals from other bacdl lawyers.”

                3. 4

                  1

Harry was a judge who didn’t win re-election after being appointed, and was never in any way associated with the film industry.
Don’t know where you’re getting all this crap.
Although I’m retired and live in Century Village now, I knew both Harry and his wife Susan.

Sort of like the lies you’re telling about any film career that Harry Gulkin might have had. For that matter, the same about his work as a defense attorney. He was a judge for one term before losing. No Big deal.

                1. 4

                  0

What career ? A two time government gopher with never any private practice to speak of. A Canadian who moved down to Florida to try to reinvent himself after a failed attempt at a film clip.

        1. 3

          2

The whole Gulkin thing is a bunch of made up nonsense. He got his azz handed to him by voters. Case closed. Just another hot air balloon.

          1. 3

            0

Is this accurate? I’m really confused. Filmmaker or Judge, or whatever he did, but then why isn’t the Best Defense Attorney Award named after a Defense Attorney? Wouldn’t that be sensible?

            1. 1

              0

It doesn’t matter whom he was. The Herb Gulkin Award is the most coveted BACDL Award given for a lifetime of fighting for justice in the courtrooms of Broward County. The award stands for excellence.

All those old Spd goats were always jealous jealous jealous of Harvey. It killed them when he effortlessly switched hats from prosecutor to Judge to defense counsel to Golden Globe winner. Whilst he was achieving in the legal world he was simultaneously working up the Hollywood ranks from making Sea Doo and Jai Alai commercials on North Lake to the feature films focusing on life and culture from his native Montreal. If it wasn’t for a few brave souls like the former Chief Judge back then they wouldn’t have even named the award for him. Bless his soul and his art. One last point because when the Hollywood money started rolling in he never abandoned his clients here and when he could’ve driven around in the biggest, flash Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham he stuck with his Renault. What a guy.

“Bayo” was a great movie. I remember when it was released, we all got together at Joe Varon’s office to watch it on a VCR alongside Harry.

We sure do miss Harry Gulkin.

    2. 0

      1

Wrong Gulkin. Harry Gulkin never had anything to do with the movie industry. He was only a judge for one term, did very little criminal defense work and died of cancer relatively young by today’s standards after being diagnosed. He was from NY or NJ as I recall.

  7. 5

    1

For all you young lawyers out there , let me correct the record about Harry Gulkin.
He was a real lawyer and an excellent lawyer, he came from New Jersey, was a state court judge for a term here and then was a lawyer with Joe Varon’s firm in Hollywood.
Harry would help out any young lawyer who stopped him on the street or in the courthouse for advice . He was very well liked by state and federal judges. He took on some very difficult defense cases back then and worked wonders for his clients. He was always well prepared and dressed like a professional .
Harry did NOT have anything to do with movies in Hollywood thats the wrong guy and he wasn’t from Canada.
Harry was a supporter of reviving the BACDL back in the late 1980s as FACDL in Tallahassee came alive.
Those of you who smear his name and didn’t know him could not stand close to being the graceful and classy lawyer he was.
I cannot speak for the current BACDL if it’s bad or good but back in the day it was a great bunch of lawyers.
Harry passed away at a too young an age, those of us who really knew him , remember a good guy and friend!

So you’re saying it’s a giant coincidence that Galkin’s old boss Varon had a cameo as a mob lawyer in another Harry Galkin’s directed movie? I’m not buying it. Same dude.

      1. 1

        0

Varon was never Gulkin’s boss. Nor was Gulkin ever a movie director or producer. I don’t know where you’re getting that from. He wasn’t even a judge but for one term.

Article 5 busted up that bacdl. Since it has become home ground for wimps who spend most of their time fanning the butts of crooked Broward Judges who utilize it for campaign donations and guest appearances at crummy honor dinners.
It in no way resembles the group of veteran trial lawyers it used to be. Just a political arm of the judicial swamp feeders.

It’s obvious you never saw Voice of an Angel Liver of a Wino.
Harry never had anything to do with it either, but it was a great movie.
