EXTENDED CLOSURES!

SAO email update sent at 2:08 PM:

Good afternoon everyone. Chief Judge Tuter held a virtual meeting today with all the courthouse stakeholders and agencies to discuss the status of Phase 2 and the reopening of Broward Courthouses.

Since Broward County has not met the requirement of a 5% or under, positive testing measure for 14 days our courthouses must remain in Phase 2. We will continue with virtual hearings and no face-to-face contact in courtrooms. We don’t anticipate jury pools until sometime in 2021.

The SAO will continue with our alternating work schedules per your unit supervisors.

As things appear to be getting worse, it is imperative that you maintain social distancing, wear your mask, and frequently wash your hands. The wearing of a mask protects those around you and protects yourself. Also, please keep your family and co-workers in mind as you go out to places on the weekend. Large crowds, small spaces and other weekend events will increase your likelihood of exposure. If you are feeling ill, you should get tested and do not come into the office while you are waiting for the results.

Judge Tuter has ordered that anyone in the public areas of the courthouse without a mask is to be escorted from the building.

Our next meeting with the Chief Judge will be sometime in the first or second week of December.

Stay vigilant and safe everyone.

Then they have to release the people in jail! You can’t hold people in jail without the possibility of trial!

If other counties are having trial, then why the hell is this circuit still having 2 zoom dockets per day?

Not nearly the problems in WPB like Broward. Of course the judges aren’t slackers like here either.

How sad to hear an attorney bragging he is making more money on unemployment then he did running his practice.

Every attorney in Broward will be running for judge. Its the only thing left to do if you want to sit home, hang out in your pajamas and still rake in a hefty judicial salary ! Lol
I have a feeling there’s not going to be many Broward judges that don’t get opposition when their time comes. Maybe that’s a good thing. We could stand to lose any number of numbnuts and whackadoos.

Make sure you don’t have anything in your past that you don’t want to come out. When you run in an election everything you have ever done or said will come back to bite you in the ass. I have seen marriages destroyed due to shit that’s been exposed.

Why Scherer just doesn’t set everything for 9:00 gets me every time. 70 plus participants on at 8:30 and she comes on after 9:00.

Scherer has no respect for people’s time. Nor is she fair to the defendants. She sets it for 8:30 and doesn’t take the bench until way later. Very inconsiderate of people’s time.

So ask Judge Tuter to speak with her and ask her to be an on-time type of jurist.

He worked for her father, so he must have a good relationship with her.

Or he can ask her father to speak with her about being on time.

There’s not tons of ZOOM time. It shouldn’t be squandered.

This Tuter fellow is wholly uninspiring, the more one learns about him, on top of the insipid performance publicly on display.

Zebedee Wright was a county judge 80s/90s. He was at the North Satellite when it was in a storefront shopping center on Sample Rd. He would set court for 8:30, & take the bench, literally, 10ish. Poor cops who’d worked all nite would all have tonsit there, waiting. He wasn’t a bad judge or bad guy but jeez, a little courtesy please.

He was also one of the best judges to ever grace the bench in Broward. A true arbiter in the application of fairness and justice unlike like the petty politicians looking for handouts we’ve got now. No comparison.

Call me Lizzy. I’m in it for the long run. Everybody waits on me because time is related to what time I crawl out of bed.

Where’s BLM? A couple of Zoom links and Judges saying no to everything. No court until February. BLM is a washout.

BLM only matters until a few can take public office and then the whole dust up comes to nothing. Its the way it goes. The wave has crested and its left in the hands of a few palm oilers networking their way onto the public dole. And their friends of course.
Broward has a long history of putting a new face on an old problem. As long as someone is getting greased to keep a lid on it.
