I didn’t realize how prevalent the filmmaking bug was amongst the top tier of the legal profession. Is this common everywhere or just in places like South Florida, New York and Los Angeles. I guess there’s a reason why there’s a Hollywood here too. I should’ve realized. Bravo.
This type of commentary is overly negative. And certainly not fair.
Broward County has taken its fair share of slings and arrows. Sure. But why denigrate the achievements of the few that have, or are trying, to excel?
For every Sheriff that went to prison, and for every criminal drunk driving Judge, there are those good lawyers that work their legal cases and make, or act in, films.
For every unqualified spoiled brat baby ingrate rich kid that gets appointed to the bench over truly deserving lawyers, there’s a great lawyer polishing off a Golden Globe winning script whilst awaiting the jurors deliberations and verdict.
For every robed lazy fraud that pretends to be a public servant, there’s lawyers hustling their butts off in craft services, or as grips and production assistants hoping to one day argue in the Supreme Court, and see their own version of Lies My Father Told Me on the silver screen. Just like our beloved Herb Galkin.
So go easy. Life is a series of choices. And passion is to be appreciated, if not always understood.
These Imdb entries are old credits from the 90’s. It looks like they were acting before law school? Would they still qualify for the Gullie if not still active in the arts?
Raticoff? The guy Finkelstein let go over the Palestinians? Seriously?
Thought he was fired along with Gary
Phyllis Cook ? Seriously? LOL
Google ‘Raticoff Finkelstein’ and see like 100 articles
International news?

What are their screen credits? I don’t see any of them listed on IMDb.

Meet and greet jail baiter. Some achievement.
Not true—
See here–
Ahem—
Gulkin–
You forgot Barry Butin in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Mortal Kombat was solid.
As someone who knew Harry Gulkin, all this nonsense about giving the award to non-directors needs to stop.
Ok, so it was a nearsighted idea to name an award after a Filmmaker – who knew there would be so few.
But former actors?! C’mon man.. and besides, Gottlieb and Kroll were only extras in those films.

IM READY FOR MY SCREEN TEST
Gottlieb was awesome in Mortal Kombat.
Jeremy Kroll is a great nominee! Hope he wins!
Looks like they are having to scrape the bottom of the barrel to me …
A bunch of trainees
Thinking aloud here. Isn’t being at the forefront and responsible for large scale complex trials kind of like directing a movie?
I SHOULD HAVE GOT THE OSCAR
BUT THE JQC DIDN’T BITE
Didn’t Gottlieb blow the whistle on Finkelstein with the Brannon spat ?
Yep. He squealed on Finkelstein.
GOTTLIEB HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BIG PUSSY
And wait a minute….isn’t Gottlieb the ONLY legislator who voted against the “Son of Drew Atria” law?!
That was the bill, (which passed despite Gottlieb voting against it), about protecting court appointed lawyers.
“Son of Drew Atria” bombed at the box office.
FRUSTRATED ACTORS
BACDL CLASS ACT AWARD
HUMAN BEINGS AREN’T COCKROACHES
ONLY LAWYERS
“That’s why the Palestinian people are considered the cockroaches of the world,” lawyer Bruce Raticoff wrote. “Burn them to the ground.”

BACDL never thought much of the poison dwarf anyway.
GET ME A BOX
But, this has been proven.
Israel GAVE them Gaza yet they chose to act like, well, …see above post.
My guess: Raticoff wins to spite Finkelstein. Like they did with the other one he fired.
I don’t know about that but he’s the oldest person on the list so he wins.
Bruce was 5 times the lawyer Finkelstein ever pretended to be
They tend to give it to the closest person to the grave …
Spite may be right. There’s a someone at BACDL that was upset over the handling of Gary/Bruce thing. Also worked at PD once.
The suspense is killing me. Envelope please. Who gets the Oscar?
