      You know the expression:
“Can’t get into law school? Go to Nova”

They take anyone and everyone…a real embarrassment.

Laz the Spaz needs his suspenders to keep standing
Counting his shekels keeps him going
All on the public dime …

Tinkerbell better be careful Grunderson doesn’t back up suddenly. All the ambulance chasers there will be ready to pounce though if there is a splat.

Digging up Oliver Wendell Holmes to stand on the left adds a touch of class to the whole Spam and boxed wine fest.

The Harvards of the South ..would be UF or FSU, maybe Chapel Hill.

Nova is a joke, like ‘Ocean Coastal Law’ or “Tom Cooley” (yes there is actually a law school in FL by that name).

        Nova has 0 admission standards

Shell Shocked Gold, Licentious Lynch, Moron Mindy, Dummy Diaz, Laz the Spaz … don’t know the old battleship acting as the anchor to the rest of the lightweights in the middle of the pic.
If this is the best Broward can do we’re all in bigger trouble than we know. Pretty much what you’d expect from Nova though.

Pretty pathetic group of hoofers …
The Best of the Broward Judge schleps LOL
Or the ones who couldn’t make it into a real law school

Stop being so mean. Every city and State needs a solid local law school to train and provide bureaucrats for the state and municipal or county legal system. The grads from the nationally ranked schools obviously go on to bigger and better things so without places like Nova there wouldn’t be anyone to staff the agencies and bench. They are the backbone of the local government so stop being so mean and unrealistic because Nova does a good job.

At least Rosenthal wasnt dumb like NSU grads.

I agree, NSU will take anyone which is why it has such a bad reputation.

Lots of dementia going on with those three on the right. Also two people could easily fit into those old K-Mart pants.

Judge GUNDERSEN is an elected Judge.

Elected Judges are better than appointed Judges.

Judge GUNDERSEN would make a fine Chief Judge if she chooses.

Length of tenure has little to do with ability.

The Tuter People would be foolish to underestimate Grundy. If she does decide to run she would give him a run for their money.

Too bad “Maria” Weekes entered her race with a fake name and will be disqualified, afraid of what voters will think of “Mariya Weekes”…

But in other news, someone should file in her race since she will be disqualified (people have to file and run under their Legal names)

Same scumbags on her host committee as always. Guess they never tire of greasing the pipe for chits.
Know this chick and I wouldn’t vote for her.
Got some real yams on her though.

Gotta check the last stats but they beat the other schools (UF , FSU) on bar passage rate last year. Have to check the last bar passage results.

The only thing that defines a lawyer’s success either financially or intellectually is the amount of enjoyment he or she derives from the actual practice of law. The school is irrelevant. If one loves it success will follow.

No and no. The JQC is an investigative body. It does a good job. But if it doesn’t know where to look it can’t do anything. Blogs come in at the tipster point. More and more that’s where they get their information. That’s why some types of people want to shut down or intimidate blogging. But that’s too darn bad for them.

Bar results stats mean virtually nothing or to the contrary may represent something other than being a refection of the quality of a law school. The first thing a statistically strong law school really speaks of is preparation for the bar. In reality , it’s more about a glorified prep course as opposed to reflecting any substantive standard

    1. 7

      0

Nova actually forces the students to take bar preparation courses at school as additional courses, not on any transcript, in order to have higher bar passage rates and look better to people. Nova is always trying to look better to people (instead of getting better). When they first forced this class it was without warning, without being part of the registration, without being part of the rules – the school just forced it on the students with the threat if otherwise not graduating. The students went ballistic but got nowhere and were forced to comply.

At the time of his arrest, his bonds totaled $300,000.

But at his first appearance hearing the next morning (bond court), being the first case called in front of Broward County Judge GIUSEPPINA MIRANDA, who apparently seems to have more concern for members of law enforcement from another county than the safety of her own constituents, his bonds were lowered to nearly one third of the original set bonds at $300,000 to $120.000.

No other school has Google searches like Nova law spies leading to sites of former students now talking about hacking computers. So they must learn something at that mist wired school.

Has Broward Beat or Red Broward or anyone else not so enamoured with these guys done a piece on this or just the site? If there’s an article I’d appreciate a link. Was there ever an arrest or police or Bar investigation? Computer hacking? Voyeurism on young women? Threats to refrain from communicating with people? Cruel. Creepy. Criminal.

If a judge falls asleep during a murder trial, should the defendant automatically get a new trial?

A divided Illinois Appellate Court panel recently said no; so long as the judge was not dozing through crucial evidence or motions, an inadvertent nap is harmless. “We find that a judge falling asleep during a trial does not constitute … reversible error,” Judge Daniel Schmidt wrote in the majority opinion.

  14. 9

Sure, let me run right over an hire you because you have a hatejail.com website and you advertise with that cheesy bow tie in the parking garage! The practice of law was once a noble profession …

Oh boy I see all these lawyers in court working out cases for their clients but I won’t ask one of them to help me because I saw a goofball cardboard cutout in a garage with a website that says jail is bad so that is the better lawyer.

  15. 9

CAN I HAVE MY JOB BACK. I NEVER KNEW HOW GOOD I HAD IT AS A BROWARD JUDGE UNTIL I GOT KICKED TO THE CURB BY VOTERS
ITS A BREEZE BEING A JUDGE HERE
YOU DONT HAVE TO DO MUCH, THE PAY IS GREAT AND THERE’S NO SUPERVISION

    1. 12

      0

Kvetching does nothing. Lobby the legislature for a judicial pay raise that isn’t basically a ‘cost of living’ bump like the last one if the goal is to attract better candidates. Otherwise Florida gets what it pays for.

      1. 6

        5

They’re paid more than they’re worth. Judges in other circuits move more cases more effectively than they do in Broward. The quality of judges here remains the worst in the state, and the most politically corrupt. Political patronage remains a big problem.

  18. 12

Pray for me. The JQC should show mercy. I was just trying to make a buck and these Broward judges are such an easy mark.

The garbage day in and day out with these know nothing self absorbed judges doesn’t make it any better. Why can’t broward elect some judges that know something about and follow the law ???

It’s no wonder these people turn so mean once in office. How humiliating it must be to grovel for money like a bum or for someone to buy a box of coffee. Can’t wait to see the financial disclosure forms.

      1. 5

        6

Most make far more than they ever did if they were in private practice as judges and the perks are great so it represents a real windfall as well for government flunkies seeking a pay raise or trying to skate out not doing much if they can hold onto it.
Judges here have the lamest schedules of any circuit I’ve ever worked in, so it’s a real plum for these slackers that quite frankly aren’t good at anything else but sucking at the public trough.
Look at the judges we’ve got and make any argument to the contrary.

        1. 7

Kristin is a nice girl but somewhat of a twit. She may be getting in way over her head. More like Padowitz pushing his wife to bring in some extra cash.
Haven’t we got enough bimbos on the bench already?

        1. 5

          1

Kristin Padowitz becomes Judge, the name gets recognized in the community, gives an edge to Ken when he runs against Satz. Same reason Gordon Weekes has his wife running for Judge this year.

          1. 6

            0

Say what you will about Fink, but running Gordon W’s wife this year to bolster the 2020 campaign is a political master stroke.

            1. 7

              4

Historic. Mariya Weekes could be the first African American woman to attain the bench in Broward without being appointed first.

Old Napoleon will be spinning in his grave.

              1. 0

                1

Hey it’s “Maria” Weaks – she changed it for the election despite overwhelming precedent of candidates getting spanked for that kind of dishonest behavior in the past.

              2. 2

                3

Mariya Weekes is not African American and is not Gordon Weekes wife, she is married to defense attorney Johnny Weekes.

6:35 p.m. asked “Who is this fellow?” Let me tell you. I know Ken Hassett very well. We went to law school together and have been friends for over 25 years. Ken is a great lawyer and all around good person. Ken has conducted himself with class and integrity over his entire career. He has worked diligently to develop a successful practice in addition to serving his community. Ken told me 20 something years ago that he wanted to be a judge. In furtherance of that goal, Ken has served his community through many different charitable organizations, has served the legal community by serving as an Officer/President in legal organizations. He is smart and has a lot of common sense. If you don’t know Kenneth Hassett, I strongly recommend you get to know him before you start criticizing him. I believe you will find him to be exactly what I read people asking for in a judge on this blog.

      1. 4

This is a most unimpressive list because Mr. Hammer would be the only heavyweight on it. Ms. Padowitz must have locked up all the influential A-Listers early in the game.

        1. 2

          0

Hammer politically is not even considered a lightweight. More like NO WEIGHT
Just another punk with no spunk with even less recognition.

      1. 6

        1

She still has her weekend gig at the flea market. That will be some consolation.
Will someone please make sure she takes all her cha-cha crap off the bench and takes it home with her. We don’t want her leaving it.

      1. 1

        0

Hallelujah ! At last Ilona will have to figure out she was NO BIG THING after all.
She can now spend the rest of her time at tent revivals praying for all those she treated so condescendingly.

        1. 9

          1

Never bought or liked her BS act. Never seen anyone so self-important without possessing an ounce of common sense or smarts to go along with several other equally deplorable character traits. She will serve to remind everyone when she’s gone of exactly what not to look for in a judge.

        1. 5

          4

Because they don’t do anything. Unless sucking tax dollars is something. Unless not creating jobs is something. Unless grabbing a pay raise and pension is something. President Trump shouldn’t Twitter so much but he’s right about these so-called Judges.

          1. 4

            1

The liberal fake media is relishing the appointment of ABA unqualified appointments by the President. Of course they will be better Judges than all those that have gone before.

The days of going to Bar functions and community events to somehow prove qualifications for the bench are over. President Trump has seen through the charade and will create a bench where adherence to hard work and the law are valued over appearances at schools or gala dinners.

          2. 2

            4

They do do something. They suck it for all it’s worth and contribute nothing unless you call honoring themselves something. It’s much worse in Broward than in other circuits. At least elsewhere they work a full week from 9 to 5. Here’s it’s as little as you can get away with and then gripe about not getting a pay raise.
IN BROWARD ITS EVERY SHEKEL COUNTS FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN SUCK IT

  25. 11

What is this weird relationship between attorney Stuart and Judge Lazarus? Does Stuart own Division 11 by passing around hundred dollar bills to court personnel so that he always gets what he wants? Then Stuart take the judge to lunch as often as possible. Something sure is rotten in Division 11 and has been since it was created and Judge Lazarus was assigned to preside over half the division.

Judge Diaz is an award winning Judge with a long record of service. He has a strong electoral base after many elections. Judge Izquierdo is a recent appointee of Republican Governor Scott. Anyone looking to make an ill-advised challenge to an incumbent ought to consider facts first.

          1. 9

            0

It would be a real easy win against Diaz and you’d be doing both the judiciary and citizens of Broward a tremendous favor. He goes over like a lead balloon in the condos and his electoral juice has continued to wane.
As far as award winning, maybe for being one of the biggest County Court slackers in history if you as me.
The guy spends more time in the cafeteria than he does on the bench as far as I can see.

  27. 8

Now that you have had all weekend to consider it, you should tell your favorite judge to accept the JQC’s plea offer. If she doesn’t, it’s only going to get worse for you – like way worse. So, save yourself and make her take the deal!
