IT’S A MIRACLE!

Courts have been closed for more than two months already, but today marks the first time we’ve seen a confidential, mid-hearing communication between client and lawyer during an afternoon Broward ZOOM hearing.

It happened this afternoon, during Barbara Duffy’s docket. A need arose for an attorney/client conversation, and BSO provided a telephone number for the client to speak with his lawyer off-camera and confidentially mid-hearing. Duffy put the case on recall, and concluded it a short time later after the private consultation ended.

It’s a miracle of modern technology!

Whether it’s a coincidence that Dava Tunis, a Miami judge, was on Broward ZOOM last Tuesday afternoon handling an executive assignment asking to no avail for the attorney/client break-out room to expedite her proceedings, or it’s because of this letter asking again for contemporaneous communication sent by Howard Finkelstein to Jack Tuter the same day Tunis was presiding in Broward, we’re glad to see the 17th Circuit has finally taken the initiative to take one step further away from the dark ages, courtesy of one Alexander Graham Bell

Agree. With her relationships with the cops unions etc I don’t know why they don’t make her Chief Judge.

Downright rude, but funny as hell ! I remember the episode with Howie about Judge Duffy. She snuffed him out. Lol

Lit’l Howie tried to badmouth me too, but all it did was get me fast track appointed to the bench…

That has happened many times during the bond docket. The PD has called their client to go offer a plea offer or to talk to the client and the case is put on recall…Glad to know you are on top of things Bill…

In fact it was the PD Romero & PD Miller (who regularly handle weekday bond court) that got the ball rolling on getting direct phone access to interview & have private conversations with their clients in all 4 of Broward’s jails the first week the courthouse closed back in mid-March. The PD’s that handle bond court also have different Zoom rooms (from bond court Zoom room) to interview & have private conversations with their clients that are in quarantine in the Broward jails. It looks like Judge Cawthon (who handles weekday bond court) needs to give lessons to all the other Broward judges on how to effectively handle court using Zoom when defendants that are still in custody.

W-T-F — why weren’t Romeros and Millers and Cawthornes common sense systems in place for all Judges and PDs and PAs to use. This is a stinking screwy Circuit allright. Their Boss should have been noticed too. For crying out loud, Man.

      2. 20

        2

Actually, it’s the moron PDs office that should figure it out. They can have a hearing but they would rather have clients rot in jail. BTW jail population at an all time low, no thanks to PD.
        Election can’t come soon enough.

False. There have been no confidential conversations. The deputies and other inmates are around when they use the phone. The push has been to make it true attorney-client confidential communication.

He must be because I saw Nadine and Lorena and other PD’s call that number and speak to their clients and I believe this was the first week or so that we started doing zoom hearings.

        Uno momento.

Chief Nadine and Chief Lorena didn’t tell Public Defender Finkelstein before he sent the letter to the Chief Judge?

Can’t decide which is the bigger imbecile, Nadine or Lorena. Both have no time to represent clients because they are politicking for Gordon Weekes in hopes of keeping their jobs doing nothing. What a waste.

    What is eGFR?
eGFR – Estimated glomerular filtration rate is the best test to measure your level of kidney function and determine your stage of kidney disease. Your doctor can calculate it from the results of your blood creatinine test, your age, body size and gender. Your GFR tells your doctor your stage of kidney disease and helps the doctor plan your treatment. If your GFR number is low, your kidneys are not working as well as they should. The earlier kidney disease is detected, the better the chance of slowing or stopping its progression.

More coming, he’s telling what caused him to go off on the judges the way he did.

The result of someone being told we can ruin your life and actually doing it. What did they really expect? Our biggest problem with him was getting him to understand he is just one of many.

He went from owning medical companies to being a landscaper.

What is your (sfc) involvement in the Todd Watson matter, are you his attorney, trusted friend?

        1. 3

          1

He contacted our website a couple of months after he was released from prison, 8 yrs on a 6 year sentence via the 4th DCA and FSC.
We had just started out a year before this.

This was after he had made the videos of himself calling the judges. He wanted to tell his story about the corrupt cops and courts but said main-stream media could’ve cared less. He uploaded the videos to his own YouTube channel, justice4all.

He’s correct, a lot of the evidence that backs him up is right in the courts files. In our opinion after looking into it he should be more upset with BSO and SAO.

He actually thought that judges care about justice in this county, so we think he is more upset with the judges because he expected them to do right and he claims they didn’t according to Watson.

After I was discharged from the hospital last year, I made some videos with Watson that I insisted he script so didn’t just off for hours on the same subject.

NO ONE HAS SEEN THESE YET. THAT WAS THE FIRST AND THERE ARE MORE.

We succeeded in getting him to give details about this and not just make accusations. We got him to realize not to many people were going to look up the court files and read them, one filing is almost 400 pages alone.

Wasn’t able to finish all of them though, got pretty sick after starting Chemo back then.

          Just to point something out;
Because of our publishing’s about Watson we were contacted by one BSO detective email asking us to call him, and two FBI agents in person after he was arrested the last time.

For someone they say is just crazy and full of it, they sure went to a lot of trouble to shut him up, and anyone else reporting about this. Just saying.

            Who are the corrupt cops?
            What was he arrested for?
What has the FBI done to date?

Are you still advocating on Watson’s behalf other than this site?

            1. 1

              2

If you have to ask all that, then look into it yourself.
Who said other than you, we are advocating for Watson, nice try officer, we are telling his story.
Some would like to call that a crime.

HOW DARE SOME OF YOU CLAM TO ADVOCATE FOR JUSTICE!

We ave the RIGHT To tell his story.
Have to tell you all, doesn’t seem like any defense attorneys care.

Broward’s a joke, and you all know it.

This is still the USA, 1ST Amendment rules!

Nobody has a clue what’s going on.
The only timely information during a crisis disseminated by the Courts to the public is from a gossip blog.
    That is not correct.
The judiciary needs to think about its responsibilities to the public after the crisis passes to decide if a new direction is needed.

Let me get this straight. From the conflicts in the comments on this thread, some public defenders have had access to clients in real time during court. I have spoken to others that have not. I don’t believe privates have ever had that access? Do they now? Only public defenders have dedicated phones to the jails? Do privates now? Where is the sign-up? Is there now an added argument to withdraw the pleas that have been done to this point by privates without client access?

Who is the president of BACDL these days? Shouldn’t he/she and the Board have gotten that straightened our?

The BACDL judicial butt sucking routine with this virus has virtually broken down. We’ll see how the major butt suckers feel about their idols in another few months when the cash dries up.
The same butt suckers will be running against these lazy Broward judges to pay the rent ! Lol
Its too bad it took a virus like this to break up the little palm oiler’s stinking game.
Big changes will come as a result of this and the ouster of these old political hacks like the SA, PD and Contested Judicial Races.

Whatever the deal is, anyone else wondering if someone like Judge Scherer is going to wait patiently on Zoom while any type of break is taken for lawyers to speak with a client?

SCHERER has no patience! Very rude to lawyers. She will never let them make phone calls middle of a hearing.

Lizzie puts her happy face on when the Parkland media circus is in town. They should stop by on a normal morning rocket docket to see what the taxpayers are getting for real. Then follow her around the rest of the day to wherever she goes.

perfect example of the BROKEN system of judicial elections. Somehow good, hardworking, polite judges like Ledee, Francois and Deprimo get opposed while the lazy, nasty ones like Scherer and McCarthy glide through unopposed. Same thing happened last time with Kollra and Usan getting challenged because of bad election names and ballot placement.

People who vote for bottom feeders like Segal, Bronhard, Conway, Chaken-Weiss, Destry, Kaplan and Schneider should hope there are enough smart voters to keep these unqualified losers off the bench. Think about it. Elections got us Gunderson, Mardi Levi-Jinglehimerschmidt-Cohen, Watson, Feren, Moon, Contini, Claudia Robinson.

            1. 1

              0

Look at the great appointed ones- u mentioned Scherer, McCarthy and then JQC Aleman, Cohen, Destry, Diaz, Gardiner, Imperato,
              Pollack, Rosenthal, Shapiro, ETC.

              1. 3

                0

You missed the point. I’m not saying we shouldn’t have elections. I’m not saying appointed judges don’t need opposition.

My point is that the bottom feeders who run chose the WRONG judges to run against – picking name, age, ethnicity, gender, etc. as the reason to run against a particular judge and the ones who need to go do not. The system is broken.
                Also- Pollack was not appointed.

                1. 2

                  0

Should anyone care what happens to any of the appointed Judges when the Jnc is completely politically manipulated?

                  1. 0

                    0

Let’s face it. Those like McCarthy won’t get an opponent because she knows how to run a campaign. Those like Scherer won’t get an opponent because of the same major political connections and power that got her the job. Those with bad names and no juice on the street will get one because times are tough and the JNC won’t give the time of day to lawyers that practice law first and and blow off the Federalists and others. It might not be fair but the unfairness with the JNC is what starts the ball rolling.
