Why would a Judge running a Courthouse with thousands of employees and thousands of daily invited guests be worried about schools at a dangerous time like this?

There’s no way! what is tutor going to do drive to the courthouse at 4:30 tomorrow morning and then tell everyone not to come in after their cars are all flooded on the road

No more snow days allowed. Regardless of the risk. Show up or get your pay docked.

I bet you’re doing everything remotely.

It’s storming like crazy right now. It’s expected to continue. I’m no meteorologist, but I don’t think it’s going to be LESS flooded tomorrow.
Water plus more water does not normally equal less water. Just saying

Just heard Ole Norman Kent passed away today. Been ill for a number of years. Ruffled a lot of feathers over the years but was always a fun guy to hang out with. He will be missed.

Surprised he’s lasted as long as he did. He’s been sick for many years. What will we all do without that horrible radio hoaxer?
Always thought he was a bit cracked.
RIP in the otherworld where its all radio signals.

Schools closed tomorrow in Broward. Why are they opening the courthouse? It’s dangerous driving out there.

The New River Tunnel poses a real problem for anyone trying to traverse Federal Highway.

There’s no safe route. Many roads remain impassable.

Still waiting on the chief to provide the magic dry path he took at 4:30am….

So let me get this straight. Everything in Broward remains closed but the courthouse during a state of emergency?

First, why not just move everything to zoom? The technology is already set up. the overwhelming majority of civil hearings are already on zoom. Why not just move any remaining hearings to zoom unless the parties would rather reset?

Second, tuter’s government bureaucrat is showing. “Tell your supervisors?” What about all of the litigants, parties, witnesses, and PRIVATE ATTORNEYS. You know, the vast majority of people who actually use the courthouse. The world doesn’t revolve around the clerks, the PDO and the SAO. Utterly ridiculous. I wish I could just “call my supervisor” and call out, but if the courthouse is open, the rest of us have to actually show up and work.

The court doesn’t care about anyone but the court. Not about the attorneys, not about the clerks, and least of all about people like witnesses and others who are forced to deal with the court through no fault of their own. The only time that matters to the court is the court’s time.

And the reason they don’t move everything to zoom is because if they did, you would no longer be able to bill your clients for driving, parking, and waiting for hearings to start. You’d only be able to bill them for actual work. The “justice” system, designed by lawyers for lawyers, will never go for that.

I Heard a Boil water alert is in effect in areas of Broward County until next week and expected mosquito infestations to follow as water recedes and temperatures continue to rise. Wear long sleeves and use insect repellent. Avoid areas of stagnant pools of water.
Possibly of alligator sightings as far east as Federal Highway.
