PRYOR UPDATE

We were going to let Harold Pryor have a little breathing room after Tuesday’s primary victory, but reached out to him earlier today following loads of queries concerning the two specific issues below, which have also been topics in the comments section.

1. Will Ilona Holmes have a formal role in a Pryor SAO, assuming victory in November?

Heres what Harold had to say:

“It’s too early for me to make that determination. We just won a primary and have a general election coming up.

I will say she’s a great attorney and was a great judge, and why wouldn’t anyone want to consider Judge Holmes in any capacity?

I can also say I believe this rumor got going because I have asked former Bar president Eugene Pettis and Judge Holmes to head my transition team, if we’re fortunate enough to win in November.”

2. Is Mike Satz staying on the Parkland case?

“I’m still reviewing the matter, but it’s important to note the case is going on as scheduled, and I certainly have no plans to disrupt it.

While still being reviewed, it’s important to note the families I’ve spoken to during the primary election phase have strongly communicated to me that they want Mike Satz working on the case.

We all better hope Ilona isn’t coming back. The thought of listening to her jive azz rhetoric in any capacity once again is genuinely frightening.
Always thought she had several screws loose as well as being just a throughly nasty person to have to deal with.

I was so undecided about who to vote for. Thanks Bill!
    Gregg Rossman for State Attorney!

I’m no fan fan of her egomania, but if she’s going to clean house at the upper levels, then she’s good for Broward.

He shouldn’t be a wimp. Don’t give into Satz. Give the families their closure. Resolve the case already.

Yes- but is Satz really worse than Holmes? This news assures some votes for Greg. I’m a lifelong Democrat. I would never vote for a Republican- but I would seriously consider it- to avoid Holmes. She was on an insane power trip as a Judge- can you imagine the hell she will unleash if she has the power of the SAO? The thought is scary.

Luckily for him a bunch of Trumpy ASA’s posting anonymously on a blog have less than zero impact on an election in August or the big show in November.

The D’s are to take back the SAO in November from a DINO mass incarceration machine.

There’s nothing a bunch of misanthropic aholes can do about it either.

    DUMMIES!

KIMOK COULD NEVER HAVE REFORMED THINGS –THE JUDGES STOOD IN THE WAY!

WHO ARE THE JUDGES MOST AFRAID OF?

    JUDGE HOLMES!

JUDGE HOLMES DELIVERS THE CHURCHES! THE VOTES!

PRYOR/HOLMES REFORMS WILL SUCCEED BECAUSE THE JUDGES FEAR HER!

    HAVE FAITH PEOPLE!

I’d be happy if I never had to see or hear the Carnival she made of her courtroom ever again. Pryor won’t get my vote if they’e going to bring that circus act back to town.

  7. 9

    2

I’m always into a good tent revival ! If the food and singing don’t give you a splitting headache, Ilona sure will.

Fortunately for all of us, Pryor won’t win so all this fear of the mad woman playing a part in the SA isn’t very viable.
Ilona was a nightmare from the moment she took the bench until she hit the road for the Sunrise Flea Market Gig.

Good, I’m glad that Judge Holmes is coming back to work in the State Attorney’s Office Say goodbye to Tony Lie, Jeff Marcus, Maria Schneider, Heather Hendrickson, Laine Bandell, Sarahnell Murphy and the rest of that high and mighty crew of Satz and Trump worshippers. The State Attorney’s Office needs a completely fresh start and Pryor and Holmes will take care of buisness.

I can’t stand her either but after having her home invaded and BLM, I bet she’s got her head on straight now. She can make sure Mr. Pryor’s vision is realized. Bring her back and have her get all the Satzites out of there for good.

      1. 6

        0

Don’t bet on it. She’ll be a total nightmare just like she was on the bench. What she lacked in ability, she made up for in conducting her courtroom like a bad re-run of the Simpsons !
Only she wasn’t funny at all.

    2. 2

      1

Right..and with Satz still at the office too….sure..that’s a clean house for sure….

  9. 12

So more of the same. I hope all those who voted for him thinking he was bringing progressive ideas to the SAO will be watching and holding him accountable. Unbelievable. It doesn’t matter that you have someone who is representative of the community at the head of the office….if all they are is a figurehead.

  10. 11

Listen I hope you add all the prosecutorial misconduct ASA’s to the peace out list. It would be great to get rid of all the dead weight and those ASA’s routinely violating the constitution, Brady; cheating. I think many will leave under Harold. But I was ready to write a check to Harold until I saw this Holmes craziness. Eugene Pettis and Holmes in the same sentence seems like blasphemy.
Rossman is Satz light but Holmes is Satz with more ego. Queen ego. Attitude. Rudeness. Plus she loves those DTU guys, the illegal search Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood, Sunrise Narcotics police.

Oh Lord give us back Kimok we’ll let everyone out of jail rather than face an election with Ilona on the other side

    1. 8

      0

Its more they thought they were done treading lightly around here or outright kissing her butt to avoid hassles after she retired. Now she’s coming back without the judicial canons as a check. She’s a free agent. A powerful one. Its a hoot. They thought it would get easier when Finkelstein left. Now its worser than anybody could have been possibly imagined.

      1. 2

        0

If any of this isn’t gibberish, can she help get a new CJ? That’s what’s needed most.

      2. 5

Finkelstein never did anything to present a challenge to Satz but turn the PDs office into a bunch of social workers who can’t try cases and sell all out clients down the river.

        1. 1

          0

join the SAO to see if the PDs in broward can try a cases. I’ve seen the private bars talent in my courtrooms. I’d take a PD trial over a Private any day

  12. 12

    0

I was in court with her the same week and several more times, even for a trial and she was the same circus act. Preaching from her thrown, making sua sponte state objections and then sustaining her own objections.
Everyone knows this. When the police walk in or one of the special units the jury sees how she verbally rolls out the red carpet for them and uses her tone (which can’t be read on the record) to undermine the defense. The defense bar would be crazy to rubber stamp anything that Holmes is running. I still hope Harold wins, I guess? He is the best person for the job.
However, with Holmes and her egomania on his team I am rethinking this.

So ASA Al Milian beats up a lawyer in the courthouse and Milian becomes a Judge. Judge Vagina strangles a lowly clerk in the courthouse and loses her job. Oops, I guess she should have strangled a lawyer.

That was probably Dr. Bogenschutz’s patented smirky mitigation defense. Poor Vegina. The kids on the blog are so cruel. Too bad the voters made the job easy for Tallahasse. It would have been fun to watch the biggest epic fail since Ana’s sob story non-defense.

I gotta admit you keep us in the loop. I’d heard those Holmes is coming back rumors and thought Harold is too smart for that. He’s a class act. Now I’m just thinking 🤔.

So the change Pryor brings us as follows: Holmes back to the courthouse and Satz still on cases.

Fink and Dianne are as much Satzies and anyone, colluding with shit like Raft and Donnelly. It the Bar and the JQC were not so corruptly controlled by their likes, they would have been kicking turds down the road a long time ago and many, many innocent people and lives would not have been destroyed.

That fat blob has always been part of the problem. You’ll never see her fat azz in a courtroom or doing anything else for that matter.

  17. 3

Just got word that the bailiffs will most likely NOT be returning to the courthouse next year. I will miss one or two of them. The rest I will not miss at all. Hopefully the Sheriff puts good deputies to work in the courtrooms.

Ironic that Mike gets to stay while Murphy will leave for the sake of her own self-respect. I wish her well. She’ll land on her feet. A loss often presents an opportunity. She took a shot. That’s more than most others ever do.

      1. 1

        0

I always found her to be to much of a lady than to get her hands dirty with politics in greased-up Broward. Polite, smart and dedicated, she does a good job at whatever she does. I never thought she had much chance of winning and I’m somewhat surprised she ever got talked into it.

  18. 1

I guess Rossman has a hot potatoe now.
He can go on record that he isn’t a fan of Holmes and win a few courthouse votes.
But that will cost him in the community.

  19. 10

Holmes is coming back. No. Please no. Transition team is one thing but please Harold not past that.

Like anybody gives two chits about Ilona Holmes endorsement.
When do these has-been Former Broward Judges like Lynch, Speiser, Backman and now Holmes call it quits and get on to crossword puzzles?
It’s getting pathetic. Like a bunch of old dementos trying to stay relevant in a political environment that’s passed them by.

Word around the courthouse is that the bailiffs will not be back next year. GOOD. We’re tired of them bragging all the time about how important they are and how hard they work. And sick and tired of hearing them brag about getting paid while the courthouse is closed. Get Rid of the bunch of clowns. Good bye you worthless useless Idiots.

  24. 9

    6

Left broke and with a failing practice? Don’t worry Sean, you can join all the other loser wannabees at the OCCCRC where a law degree and a pulse get you a job. Running for office and being rejected by voters is not mandatory for employment, but helpful.

    DonoHoHo – 2 time loser.
    Kimok – loser
    Kaplan – loser
    Heise – loser
    Peterson – loser

Conway- loser. Now you can be in good company at the OCCCRC. “Attorneys without jobs representing people without jobs”

    1. 11

Deborah Steinschmaltz couldnt hold onto a job there
I guess even they have their limitations

    2. 9

      4

Sean has more balls than most of you woofers and would have made a good judge. To have any political juice around here you have to suck a lot of dick or be from the getto or both. Its a freak show. Ability doesn’t matter and actually works against you with this bunch.

  25. 5

    0

You clearly do not know Gregg or why he left the SAO. Just because he was too professional to trash his former employer does not mean he agreed with Satz’ policies; there is a reason he left the office. Gregg is an excellent attorney and would make an excellent State Attorney.

    1. 0

      0

      Why did he leave then?

He was po’d because Satzie got too soft in his old age?

Why doesn’t Rossman publicly outline his reforms then?

Does he have any, or is he a Satz-loke blanket to cover the cops at any cost?

      What are Rossman’s positions?

What will he keep out of the system?

      What will he divert?

What will he prioritize to prosecute?

How will he stop police from targeting minorities in traffic stops?

Will he decline tint stops/seatbelt stops?

He doesn’t have to be Kimok, but he can have actual plans.

Republicans have been more vocal for criminal justice reform (for financial reasons) – he can make that clear and defeat his image with promises and specifics.

Won’t that also make his opponent start talking specifics instead of giving dodge answers so everyone has to wait until January to see what’s really up?

  26. 10

I wouldn’t care if I ever saw Holmes again in my life. Her idea of giving you a fair trial is laughable. The woman wouldnt shut up long enough for you to introduce evidence or conduct your examination of witnesses.
    She’s a junkyard dog with a robe.

  27. 0

Are the bailiffs really losing their jobs at the end of the year ? Can’t say that I’ll be sorry to see them go. Hell they have not been working for the last several months at least and not one single person in the courthouse misses them.

  28. 7

    0

Why not just forbid any white people from working in the Broward judicial system. That’ll solve ALL the problems of corruption when only POCs exist and run the show. Then who ya gonna blame, ghostbusters?

  29. 5

VERY LEAST ALONA HOLMES = KICKING TIRES AND LIGHTING FIRES WOULD BE THE NEW BUSINESS PLAN IN THE STATE ATTORNEYS OFFICE
ELIMINATING ALOT OF NON-ESSENTIAL SLIDERS FOLLOWING

TO BAD RUBY GREEN WASNT ELECTED OR WE WOULD HAVE HAD THE SAME IN THE PUBLIC DEFENDERS OFFICE

  30. 12

    0

Holmes would be terrible if given a tiny bit of power. I hope he doesn’t. He needs to remember he doesn’t have a mandate. He won with less votes than some of the losers in judicial races. Putting someone in like Holmes would be dangerous. She will undermine him. Let her do the transition and speak at events and feel self important- but don’t bring her into the office. She will be a nightmare.

  31. 4

    0

PLS. I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN SHE RETIRED
NOW YOU’RE TELLING ME SHES COMING BACK FOR SECONDS ?
I MOST SINCERELY HOPE YOU ARE WRONG
SHE BELONGS IN SOUTH FLA. STATE MENTAL HOSPITAL WHERE HER ACT WOULD BE MORE APPRECIATED

  32. 5

    0

Holmes will pull the strings and Pryor will follow. Stand up to this Harold. You don’t need to bring back Satz. Let him ride into the sunset. You don’t need Holmes. Be your own man. You got here. You can do this. As the kids would sing. Let it go. Let it go. Let it go.

  33. 2

I banged Sheila, but then again who hasn’t. She’s got long legs but she’s always drunk and a lousy lay. Nothing special.

    1. 2

Wow don’t that make you high class? You can bang a drunk that has screwed any guy that looks at her. I guess you are a bigger dumb ass, low life then her.

How did Sheriff Tony get elected when he was given a vote of no confidence by the deputies on up? And Israel’s BSO is @ fault for Half those deaths. How did anyone vote for either?

We didn’t want Forman to win more anymore than anyone else did but we are sure we will have some really good stories in the future.

  35. 2

    0

The bailiffs are as stupid, useless and incompetent as their boss the Sheriff. And here we are stuck with these absolute losers.

  36. 0

    0

Bill Gellin, you need to start asking questions and find out why the Sheriff is paying the bailiffs for months and months to sit at home or walk around the courthouse one day a week doing absolutely nothing and getting full pay and benefits. The courthouse will now be closed thru the month of September and possibly thru the rest of the year. 99%of the hearings are being conducted via video Zoom and the judges do not come into the courthouse. Bill Gellin you need to find out why our taxpayers money is being wasted paying the bailiffs for not working. And to make matters worse some of the bailiffs are actually bragging about getting paid while they enjoy the courthouse being closed down. Bill Gellin you really need to ask why this is happening.

    1. 0

      0

True that. I have been doing a # of Zoom Motion Calendar hearings in Dade. Some of the judges actually have the bailiff sitting in a chair as part of the discussion group. I can’t imagine what purpose that serves other than political pressure to keep these people relevant. Broward and Dade are the only places I litigate throughout the state that typically do not have regular Sheriff deputies in every Courtroom – not these retired old guys or glorified mall cops.

  37. 0

    4

It is absolutely a fact. Ilona Holmes is coming back to work at the State Attorney’s Office. Second in command. The following people need to get ready to look for new jobs ASAP. They are…Ted Dais, Jeff Marcus., Maria Schneider, Heather Hendrickson, Lanier Bandell and several others that have yet to be named. Oh, and naturally Sarahnell Murphy. Thank you for working at the State Attorney’s Office. You’re services will no longer be needed. YOU’RE FIRED !!!!!! And make sure that you clean out your offices completely.

    1. 2

      0

No way Jeff Marcus can actually earn a living in the private sector – he will wind up in retirement or sucking off the public tit in another jurisdiction. The rest of them can go work for Geico.

  38. 1

    1

Get Rid of the Bailiffs. They are useless employees and not working. The courthouse is closed and no bailiffs are needed. At least until next year. Why keep paying the bailiffs if they are not working. Save money, lay the bailiffs off until the courthouse opens again.

  39. 1

    1

The bailiffs are a waste of time and money. Idiots every single one of these morons is getting paid to do nothing. Why ? Bill Gellin you need to start asking questions why.

  40. 1

    0

Good morning Clerks. Enjoy your day at work in that sick courthouse. We’ll be working from home AGAIN and getting paid for it. Life is great when your a bailiff. Living the high life.

  41. 8

    0

Someone, anyone, please tell Harold Pryor to NOT hire Ilona Holmes. During her time on the bench she was cruel and disrespectful, and stood against everything he campaigned on!

I voted for you Harold! A lot of is did! We had faith (still do) that you truly were serious about having a criminal justice system that worked for everyone! But if you hire Ilona the past 44 years will look like a walk in the park!!!!!!!!

    1. 0

      6

Sounds to me like someone doesn’t want Holmes to come back to the State Attorney’s Office because they know they will be out of a job. Could this be Tony Loe, Jeff Marcus, Heather Hendrickson, lanie Bandell, Ted Daus or Maria Schneider just to name a few that will be gone when Holmes comes in and throws out the trash. Hahaha. Bye Bye.

      1. 3

        0

I don’t work there. I would quit if Holmes was coming. She is the worst. She was on a power trip as a judge- she will be a nightmare.

  42. 3

    0

To ALL of the stupid clerks posting that the bailiffs are getting fired, WRONG. We’re not going anywhere. You stupid clerks need to do your job and worry about yourselves.

  43. 0

Broward county is the only courts that has bailiffs. Every other courthouse has certified deputy sheriff’s working in the courtrooms. Why are we stuck with bailiffs that are in their 80s and can barely see or walk. It is a disgrace and very dangerous in the courtrooms to the rest of us having to work with them. The bailiffs are not capable of protecting themselves forget about protecting anyone else. Sadly this is what our courtroom security is, 80 years old men and women. And now the courthouse is closed and remains closed for the rest of the year and we have to listen to some of the bailiffs bragging about getting paid and not doing anything. Broward county courts are a joke with the bailiffs sleeping in the courtrooms while court is in session and everyone watching them and laughing at them.

  44. 1

    0

I’m hearing from several different people that the courthouse will be closed thru September and most likely for the rest of the year. I personally think it’s great, no driving to court, don’t have to worry about catching the Coronavirus, don’t have to work and I’m still getting paid. Could not ask for a better deal than this. As long as I’m getting paid I don’t care when the courthouse reopens. It has been great, like an extended paid vacation. What more could we ask for.

    1. 1

      0

Problem is where will the money come from if the courthouse is closed. That’s a lot of revenue to lose. The state can’t print money and they’ve shut down so many businesses so I’m sure sales tax revenue is down. Sooner or later layoffs or furloughs are coming if places don’t open soon

      1. 2

        0

Yes it is closed. Just because a few of the offices are open certainly does not mean that the courthouse is open. Are they having trials, are they having jurors come in, are the courtrooms open and having hearings with the Judges present and sitting at the bench. The answer to all of these questions is NO. The courthouse is not open. Stop lying.

        1. 1

          -1

The judges aren’t at the courthouse working. There are no trials.

But the courthouse is open to the public, and there are staff working at the courthouse, serving the public every day.

Just because the judiciary chooses to stay home does not mean the courthouse is closed.

So YOU stop lying to people, giving them the impression that no services are available to them at the courthouse, when they are.

          1. 0

            0

Well, I guess if you are their lawyer they get a few more months, or until whenever the judges decide to come to work, until they are convicted and sentenced.

  45. 0

    0

I’ll try PD cases for free because everyone should have a GREAT attorney especially if your life DEPENDS on it.

  46. 4

    0

Isn’t Greg Rossman the one who put those 2 mafia guys in prison for the Sun-Cruz murder and Ilona Holmes messed-up so bad that one of them was transferred back to the Broward jail for the last 8 months while he waits for his retrial? I truly hope Rossman prevails and sends that guy back to prison. Rossman is by far the best person to run SAO.

    1. 2

      0

Rossman would be a good State Attorney- but he isn’t very smart by putting out there that he is a big Trump guy. The Trumpers will vote for him anyway- he is alienating the majority of Broward voters and guaranteeing he won’t win.

    1. 2

      0

I wouldn’t vote for any candidate who was even considering dragging Ilona Holmes back from out of the woods. She’s a total mess.
