RICHARDS REDUX?

4:30 PM FINAL UPDATE – All absentee ballots have been counted, with Robinson ahead of Richards by 431 votes.  The votes will be counted at least one more time before the election is certified.  Pundits close to the action think Robinson is in the clear, although it won’t be official for a few more days …

Don’t count Ian Richards out just yet.  Word is he’s picked up 500 votes so far during the recount, and there are still loads of absentee ballots to count.  Currently the SOE website shows Claudia Robinson’s lead cut to 481 votes, as of 1:05 pm …

UPDATE – Claudia Robinson holds on to a 431 vote lead as of 3:40 pm.  It’s unclear at this time if any votes remain uncounted …

So exactly who is this idiot Claudia Robinson chick. No experience bimbo white except not really just another ignorant immigrant bring more and she speakie Spanish. Just perfect. Our bench is just going to be absolute junk. The voters of Broward are really fools.

Poor Richards loses the pension, the free secretary, the ass kissers who pretend to like him and the greatest perk of all time: the free endless supply of judicial ambien and xanax.

Does BSO help lame ducks clear out their Chambers or is he on his own? And don’t take any of those “Property of Broward County” archive boxes back to Miami with you buster!!

The lesson for all is to smile and be nice to everyone, no matter how much it hurts. Today’s mope is tomorrow’s Honorable, and vice versa. BTW, Judges really need to play ball. Ask holier than thou cop on the bench Avalos, or Richards who screwed with a good lawyer at the PDO. Get a bad rep and face the consequences, particularly if the lawyers in question hadn’t earned the right (experience wise) to wear a robe in the first place.

Recrimination time, like if I had worked just a little harder, canvassed one more neighborhood, sent out one more mailer, woe is me 400 votes oh dear I shouldn’t have skipped that Century City breakfast.

Saw Ahearn all happy in the cafeteria today getting his pats on the back, last I heard they are still count ballots. Not so fast fat boy.

Not quite. There aren’t enough ballots left to overcome the lead. We know have three Judge Robinsons and three Judge Cohens.

Does anyone see the irony with this race? Claudia and Catalina are both Hispanics, Claudia and Catalina are both married to police officers, Claudia barely raised any money and beat Ian, Ian barely raised any money and beat Catalina, Richards sounds like a white name, Robinson sounds like a black name. Makes you believe in Karma…..

Wow! By reading the comments posted here, I’m kind of glad that I relocated out of Broward long ago. Believe it or not, there are plenty of attorneys who have genuine respect for one another.

By the way, the Ahearn from Wilton Manors that I know is actually a nice guy. That, High School, comment about him confirms that my choice to move was the right one.

Calm down everyone. These are leftover votes for Miriam Oliphant for SOE from 2000. They were inadvertently left “unstuffed” and were supposed to be filed with the leftover JFK votes from 1960.

Richards can beef up his state pension by working as a toll collector on the interstate, although that may be phased out as sunpass technologies continue to develop.

I always thought captaining one of those water taxi’s around the rich people’s homes on the intercoastal would be a fun way to earn a living.

  12. 0

    0

Why all this talk about taxis and toll collecting? Richards is a capable person, and Judge Claudia Robinson needs a judicial assistant. Why doesn’t he stay with the state payroll and work for her?

  13. 0

Richards was a Broward County Judge. I’m sure GM, IBM, Apple, Motorola and others will be lining up to hire him for their Board of Directors, and firms like Cravath and Sullivan and Cromwell will be fighting to make him an equity partner. This is a good thing for him.

Maybe whichever Judge taking over Richards’ Chambers will be nice and let him poop in his former toilet when he’s at South begging withholds on parking tickets. The public one isn’t too tidy, and I once saw a hypodermic needle on the floor there.

To 6:23 pm – Yes, that Mike Ahearn is a nice guy and actually has a great sense of humor and personality (he gets a bad rap from some folks around here who seem jealous of him).

It’s really amazing how much professionals can sound like assholes once their anonymity is assured. All this tough talk and bullshit attacks on Ian Richards because he lost on this blog, but to his face you all would act like purring little pussycats. He lost an election, he didn’t have his brain removed or lose his Bar License. Like any other judge that lost an election, Ian Richards will return to practicing law, like he did before he won the seat in an election. So all of you who were mad that he challenged a Hispanic woman and took her job, well here’s you retribution and payback. No SHUT UP! You ppl sound like a bunch of high school girls talking about the boy dating the pretty and popular girl you wish you were, but you’re not her so you tear her down constantly to make yourselves feel better. He lost…Get over it!!!

Catalina Avalos lost because she was an incompetent boob who acted as a rubber stamp for the state. She was an arrogant below average prosecutor whose arrogance really bloomed when she took the bench. Another state attorney who could not figure out she was in misdemeanor court.

It looks as if Ian Richards might have lost. We will know for sure by the end the of the week. A lady stop me this morning while walking my dog and asked me if he won because she didn’t see a check by his name. She said she had cases before him and he was fair. So if he practice solo law I sure he will be okay. I get it folks are upset that he won in 2008 at
33 years old. But image that a boy who grow up in liberty city and took on the good ole boys and gals and won. Go figure. A federal judge took the time to write him a letter telling how proud he is of him.

    1. 0

      0

He should hold on to that letter from the Fed Judge and take it with him to a place like the Capital Grille or Joe’s Stone Crab. A waiter in one of those places makes probably the same as a County Judge but it’s impossible to get the job and then the good shifts unless a Federal Judge and a Senator (U.S.) recommend someone.

Note to Bill Gelin, operator of this blog:

The Florida Bar is presently threatening every lawyer in this state with possible discipline for what he/she says in their “private lives,” and this BLOG is totally silent on this development. Instead, we have article after article as to judicial races and courthouse insider stuff that nobody cares about.

Wake up, Bill. The Bar is repealing the First Amendment and you couldn’t care less because you aren’t a target–yet.

I am tired of hearing all these crap about why Judge Richards should be out of the office. Not because Richards is a bad judge (he actually has a pretty good record), not because Estrada (Robinson) is an excellent candidate (Hispanic Vote found her unqualified when they endorsed Kasen in Primary), but because Richards ran against a Hispanic judge 6 years ago!

As a Hispanic, I am ashamed of these individual and organizations. For them, revenge is way more important than benefitting the Community.

Julio and Ian distinguished themselves as the hardest working Judges in Criminal when they were in DV. Julio won the Bar Poll.

Nobody cares about this “inside baseball” version of what’s going on in the Broward courts. This used to be a law blog about scandal. Looks like The Bar’s attempt to chill Gelin’s speech worked. Sad. Jack Thompson

This comment, presumably by a lawyer, violates the Bar’s new Creed of Professionalism/Civility. Further, any lawyer who assists in making this comment public is also violating the Creed. Are all lawyers in Broward so uninformed that you all don’t realize this and won’t take on The Bar as to this shredding of the First Amendment? Jack Thompson

  23. 0

The academic speech codes are already morphing into the state bar speech codes. Not one percent of the lawyers in Broward are aware that the Florida Supreme Court in June of last year enacted the Creed of Professionalism which allows and commands discipline of lawyers for offensive speech uttered in “their private lives.”

And this blog is absolutely silent on this development. Incredible. Jack Thompson

I don’t believe Ian Richards hid from anyone In 2008 or 2014. The Broward Teachers union sent out mailers supporting her. Fighter fighter had on union shirts handing out cards supporting her and they were paid. Dan Lewis blue, card red card support and was largely a failure on every issue. Avalos with Hispanic vote called in some Favors. The truth is Richards ran a real grassroots Campaign in 2008 and won with no union support or big money. While in 2014 He made some small tactical mistakes and lost. There was big money behind Claudia Robinson not just $11,000 but big money that Richards couldn’t match. Now, the big question can she perform. She owes these powerful people a lot of favors. So when she gets that call to let such and such out of jail just do it and ask no questions.

In 2008 Ian Richards run against Steven Deluca after checking with other lawyers. They had nothing but nice words about the judge. Kevin Kulik advise Richards to run against Catalina Avalos. They all said she was a bad judge.

This is just bull shit. There was no big money behind Claudia. If there was, she’d have a sign or two. There were no signs.

Have you ever worked the polls? The only thing worse than dodging the homeless asking for spare change is trying to dodge campaigners at a polling place. Remember Hispanic Vote initially endorsed Kasen

You can’t disagree with everything Jack Thompson says just because you don’t like one or two things he says or stands for or believes in, or just because you hide behind a computer as “anonymous,” or just because you think that right now, in this way, it’s an easy way for you to be disgusting to someone. Also, the immaturity and cruelty on this site is amazing, but probably not so amazing, since most of the comments probably do come from Florida lawyers.

This wasn’t about race. It was about respect and a young judge who was arrogant with no basis. If it was about race then Judge Williams wouldn’t have won reelection. Except Williams is a good person and a good judge.

This race was about 600 votes not respect or grassroots campaigning. The good old boys put their money behind their candiate and Robinson won. All the folks that back Kasen backed Robinson. Any real lawyer or observer knows.

It amazed me to see how many people volunteered to campaign for Judge Richards. He is a good person and great judge. Only in America can Richards be elected as judge because he believed he can make a difference.

Ian paid for 98% of his volunteers, look at where the almost 200k he raised and loaned himself in the race was spent. Robinson may not have had one tenth of the number of Ian $upporters but she had quality volunteers over large quantity of paid volunteers who only $upported Ian because he paid them.

For all of you in Broward who are apologists for pedophiles, please note that a gay Obama intimate has just been charged with child molestation. Maybe Michelle can focus more on this youth issue rather than starving kids with her lunch program:

“A prominent gay rights activist charged last week with sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy is a strong supporter of President Obama who has visited the White House more than a half-dozen times in the past two years, visitor logs show.

Terrence P. Bean, 66, who raised more than a half-million dollars for Mr. Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012, last visited the White House on May 30 when he met with the president, first lady Michelle Obama and political adviser David Simas.”

    Mr. Thompson,
Other than commenting on this blog, and seeming to be very stressed and disturbed by what’s on it and by other things going on, what do you do all day? Your thoughts and behavior are worrisome. Do you have any calm or relaxing moments? Do you ever have any fun? Is the Florida Bar and are stupid, cruel people ruling your life? I hope not.

I have a wonderful life, thanks to the grace of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. The Obama supporter/pedophile story is headlined today at the most visited Internet news site in the world. So if Matt Drudge knows what he is doing (he does, as his news sense has made him tens of millions of dollars), then I could do worse than reposting what he thinks are newsworthy items.

As to whether or not my behavior is worrisome, I would suggest that some of the folks who run Broward, some of whom post here, are the ones with the worrisome behavior, most importantly those who use their positions to attempt to normalize perverse sexual activity, including the molestation of minors. I’m doing great; no so for some of the elitists in Broweird.

For those fortunate enough not to know of him, there is a liberal idiot (sorry about the redundancy) who owns and operates a disinformation web site called the Justice Building Blog found at http://justicebuilding.blogspot.com/ .

Like Bill Gelin, this guy is a lawyer or claims to be, and he also claims that his web site is “the official blog” of Miami-Dade’s Justice Building. Apparently the guy flunked fifth grade English and doesn’t know what the word “official” mean. Or maybe he really is the official blog of this government building, because he sure spots liberal crap (redundancy again) that you would expect to hear out of State Attorney Rundle and others like her and her mentor, Janet Reno.

Unlike, Bill Gelin, Rumpole does not have the courage to stand behind his words. He runs the official blog anonymously, and he has told the media he does so because he is afraid of Bar complaints. He should be. He violates Bar Rules all the time in the posted attacks on judges.

Here’s the latest from this cowardly clown. He is currently running, modestly of course, his take on the Ferguson, Missouri, riots, as to why they occurred. He says this, and is serious about it:

    “So why are people rioting?
Because the Justice System is broken. ”

Broken? Not in Ferguson. If the system is broken, then thank God that finally, with the grand jury’s courageous decision, a part of the criminal justice system got this one absolutely right.

A thuggish brute stole property out of a store and roughed up the owner. He then, with his lying sidekick, proceeding to walk down the middle of a busy street, apparently while high.

Officer Wilson asked him to get out of the middle of the road, whereupon this brute proceeded to punch the cop through the window of his car and tried to get the cop’s gun. Then, according to African American witnesses, the thug charged Wilson in order to do him further physical harm. Of course Wilson shot him.

But whether you agree with what Wilson did, the grand jury actually worked the way it is supposed to work and the way the Founders historically designed and intended it to work: the grand jury actually heard ALL the evidence, rather than hearing only the bereaved family’s version of the evidence. ALL of the evidence exonerated the officer.

Rumpole apparently would want the grand jury to be a rubber stamp for Eric Holder types who simply want to indict white bread ham sandwiches.

No, this time the system worked the way it was supposed to work, the race-baiters and their Rumpole-like fellow travelers notwithstanding.

A prominent black NFL player is getting wide publicity now for suggesting that maybe the discussion about why there are riots after incidents such as the one in Ferguson should include the utter destruction of the black family by liberals like Rumpole. Amen to that.

But according to the blogging guardians of political correctness, the miscreants who burned down black-owned businesses in Ferguson are the latest incarnations of Martin Luther King, Jr. Right. We had to burn down the town to save it.

And the Democrat Governor didn’t mobilize the National Guard the night of rioting because the Commander in Chief and his racist puppet, Eric Holder, didn’t want the Guard to protect this black neighborhood and its black-owned businesses because that would have been “provocative.”

Again, this time the justice system, whether broken or not, did not indict an innocent man. It is not broken because of that. It is broken because idiots like Rumpole, educated beyond their intelligence, think that the solution to what ails our country is more apologia for black racism, for harmful liberal bromides, and more terror in the streets.

Here’s an idea, Rumpole. Get out of your anonymous safety cocoon and take to the riot streets yourself, and put your butt where your running mouth is. Unless you will identify your self, you coward, shut up. Jack Thompson

    So why are people rioting?
Because the Justice System is broken.

    Dear Anonymous Coward Troll Jesaxin:

You’re quite a bit behind the curve, dude. Officer Wilson was not responding to the robbery of the store in which the Little Angel, Mr. Brown, stole some cigars and roughed up the owner.

Wilson knew nothing about the robbery. What Wilson was doing was telling this idiot to stop walking down the middle of a busy street, whereupon this Little Angel proceeded to punch the offer through the window of his car and try to get the officer’s gun.

Then, according to the African American witnesses, Brown charged Wilson in another go at him, with Wilson shouting repeatedly for him to stop. He refused to stop, and the testimony is that he, the Little Angel, did NOT have his hands up.

So this entire “the justice system is broken” idiocy is based on facts that don’t exist, which the grand jury decided did not exist. Leftwing weirdos like Rumpole and you think that black criminals can threaten white cops, and when the use of force in response is reasonable, then its racism. Charles Barkley, who has weighed in on this, has figured it out.

I feel sorry for you. You are trapped in a race-driven world that thinks no black is guilty, no white innocent, and the historical grand jury, as conceived by the Founders, was all screwed up. Go back to Venus.

I am so sad for you Jack–a little humor is so far above you to see the sarcasm before tiraidin,’ labeling and name calling. I was suggesting that even an unarmed robbery is still a robbery by force, which you seem to believe is a “liberal” or left-wing point of view from which assignment you totally falsely think I believe he did not get what he invited as a result of your assignment of my alleged wing. Perhaps why you have been so unsuccessful at accomplishing much despite having the winning hands is because you won’t play well with others regardless if they are even on your side and you would rather sabotage yourself than actually work with anybody else

      Dear Moron:

Bob Bennett was a Mormon. There is a decent chance, then, that he was not a Christian, so you may be right that he is presently in Hell, as official church doctrine of LDS denies the divinity of Christ, which is the sine qua non for salvation. Nevertheless, some LDS members believe in Christ despite their church’s apostate screwy theology.

As to Bob Bennett, former Senator from Utah being one of my “buddies,” you really are an ignoramus. Apparently you don’t know, or can’t read to know, that Bennett got booted from the ballot in Utah because he was targeted by the Tea Party. They’re my kind of folks.
