SAO APOLOGY

UPDATE – SAO Email, as reflected in the comments section, received February 6th at 7:19 PM:

The filing of the charges was clearly an error and we apologize.

__________________________________________________________________

6:21 PM February 6th original post: “SAO CHARGES DESIR” –

Anyone hoping for reforms in the SAO’s Felony Case Filing Unit (FCFU) have been disappointed since January 5th. Lawyers are seeing the same steady stream of aggressively overcharged “reaches” coming through, just as they had throughout the Satz dynasty. In fact, with Staci Direnzo taking over as Unit head, two names, Direnzo’s and Satz’s long-time, close friend John Countryman’s, seem to be appearing on almost all the Informations, signifying that individual case filing ASA’s can no longer independently decide on the appropriate level of charges or dismissal, as they had before. Criminal justice reform in many peoples’ minds begins and ends with felony case filing, but things seem to have only gotten worse.

Now, despite news breaking on January 18th of the tragic in-custody hospitalization and eventual death of Kevin Desir, the deep disconnect between Harold Pryor’s case filing units, and the reforms we believe he is genuinely trying to implement, has once again raised its ugly head.

On February 2nd, Direnzo and Countryman signed separate felony charges for Desir, roughly sixteen days after the SAO would have known Desir was hospitalized, and six days after he died.

Click the links for the charging documents for Criminal Mischief and Possession of Cannabis.

How this could happen is anyone’s guess, but is sadly characteristic of the sloppy and reckless manner many believe FCFU has employed throughout the mass incarceration era.

Stay tuned to the continuing mainstream news coverage of the SAO and BSO pointing fingers over the investigation into Desir’s passing. Justice will have to be served. In the meantime, let’s hope the wildly insensitive and inappropriate case filing insults highlight the need for fresh, visionary faces in FCFU, who can help Pryor turn things around, instead of interminably damning him to the past …

BLM was fake. Now that Biden is in it’s over. No more riots, murders or any new “rights”. Their often encouraged terrorist group is now sold out, as they should be. Police will only reform at the local level.

Many folks at the SAO really don’t care. They get tired of government jobs but need the money & become lifers. My hope is Mr Pryor will look out for the little guy on a case by case basis as he promised. I’m a local lawyer & im tentatively confident in Pryor. It’s early gentlemen. Let’s give the chap a chance.

I agree. Pryor has civility the likes of which haven’t been seen in awhile. Many of us admire him and wish him Godspeed & nothing but the best. But he should keep this blog updated. I’m hoping he remains a gentleman regardless of his staff & keeps his promises.

That’s the funniest video I ever seen. The guy has a cat filter on & tries to argue his case anyway bc can’t remove it. You losers on here should look at it.

Classic example of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing involving idiots that should have been dumped when Pryor first took over !
Harold will have to learn fast on his feet that the last thing he wants to do is to inherit the incompetent holdovers from Satz and Co.
This won’t be the last surprise! LOL

He got rid of Loe. Why would he keep 70 year old Countryman. He cut salaries. Countryman makes $65,000 a year AFTER retiring. After salaries were cut. Countryman bounced around so many Divisions. Like DTU, SPU. Why is he involved at all now. This man can make changes happen? This is a laughable. Who is Pryor listening to? Satz?

This is the man reforming Felony Filing

Prosecutor Fired After ‘Bimbo’ Dress Dispute
    September 20, 1988
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) _ A prosecutor whose boss complained her short skirts made her look like a man-hunting ″bimbo″ has been fired after lodging a complaint against him with the county human rights commission.

Brenda Taylor, a Broward County assistant state attorney, had refused to trade her designer blouses and tight-fitting skirts for more conservative atire despite memos from her supervisor, John Countryman.

At a minimum, he’s got ASA’s in top positions that don’t read the newspapers and could care less about Mr. Pryor’s reputation, or worse, they knew what they were doing and couldn’t buck their training under Mike to file everything against everybody to cover their butts, even dead people and people who got shit kicked by law enforcement.

They must’ve filed it to legitimize the fact that Desir belonged in jail. Argue for lawsuits etc down the road.

I don’t agree. It’s way too early to criticize this new State Attorney. Realize SATZ WAS THERE since the 70s. Back when guys like me were practicing. He needs time to sort things out & many criminal lawyers are not going well. Not Harold’s fault,

Admin likes him because he talks a good progressive game and goes to a good church but he has no common sense and doesn’t belong at the SAO or case filing.

Sheriff Tony wants the SAO to investigate.
The Sheriff knows the SAO can’t figure out the most basic stuff.
Like charging a dead man in a massive media case.
    FDLE needs to do it.
    Hold Tony accountable.

Looks like another one where they didn’t call any witnesses before filing.

If they had the witness would have told them who the defendant was.

Whoever advised Pryor to give Direnzo and Countryman that position needs to be fired.

Countryman is way long in the tooth. About the only thing he can probably still do maybe is smear baby food all over his face. He needs help with his diapers though.
Keeping these old used car salesmen on the payroll has its consequences as we’ve seen. His bulb went dim a long time ago. Now its barely a flicker.

Morton was an outstanding attorney as attorneying goes.
He just had no moral compass to even approach his skills which is why micky shitz loved him so. This is the essence and namesake of chuck the fuck you morton is Lavrentiy Beria, Stalin’s ruthless head of the Soviet secret police:
‘Show me the man and I’ll find you the crime.’ I actually heard him say this to a sr. class of NSU law students playing lawyer. It should also be mentioned that in Taber’s Medial Dictionary, NSU is defined as non-specific urethritis–a venereal disease

They play up the honors and awards. The whole holier than thou routine. But they’re no better than anyone else. They have to do it to elevate the mystique. Once the world figures out they’re no different than anybody else they’re done. The peoples in court don’t bother dressing anymore. They know the score. Its the lawyers who play the kissy up game that stop anything from getting better. Too many lawyers are low earning losers looking for a bench to occupy themselves. The real lawyers laugh at them. They laugh at the Judges. The peoples that never earn more than 200 per their entire lifetimes are funny punch lines. Its too bad they can’t eat the awards and plaques that make them feel better about themselves. Instead they got to suck down bags of Doritoes and cheap alcohols at homes. That’s why their so fat.

It looks like there is another mistake in Judge Orlando’s courtroom saying they are waiting to see if two misdemeanor charges would be filed. For a juvenile stating they are testing the substances. According to a prosecutor in Judge Orlando’s courtroom they are testing a misdemeanor marijuana charge for a juvenile who received 2 misdemeanor marijuana charges around December and they were the only 2 charges and they keep continuing the case each month it was not referred to any diversion program. Judge Orlando stated they were still testing the substance on one of the court hearings as well and that it takes months to test but according to Harold Pryor they are not wasting money for testing for this. So who is the liar here??? Harriet Gustafson seems to think waiting for discovery and if there is a filing decision to do her job. No justice ever in Broward!!!!!!!!! All a bunch of FRAUDS. And that’s exactly why the state attorneys office deleted my comment in Facebook because they are trying to hide the lies. Try deleting this comment!
