SCHOOLS CLOSED/17th CIRCUIT OPEN!

*UPDATE* 8:17 PM …. Tuter was reached by phone at 8:00 PM, who said he’s already sent an announcement out. He was not happy.

Since it’s now 8:17 PM, we will have to assume the courthouse is open tomorrow, based upon the last 17th Circuit official message, sent at 7:22 PM:

This message is to advise that the 17th Judicial Circuit Courts will remain open under normal business hours on Thursday, September 26, 2024. We are continuing to monitor the weather conditions in light of Hurricane Helene. Court personnel who are unable to travel safely to the courthouse should contact their direct supervisor. We will provide further updates should there be any changes to court operations.

That’s from 2022, so a bit foolish to act like it applies two years later. This hurricane isn’t hitting the east coast.

Bill, I haven’t seen anything? It may have come from 2022 but it’s scary to know Court Admin is incompetent to the point Bill Bloggy is the one that keeps him informed.

Looks like Judge Tuter was the only one to call this right. I’m happy to be home but what a waste for those who actually need the money.

He’s got tough calls to make. I get it. But. Was it worth it? With all the child care issues facing the people who aren’t making 200k like the judiciary? I don’t agree.
I think if school’s out he needs to think of all the employees and jurors and people who are compelled to come to court. They come first.

Yeah and let’s not have court over the summer too because kids are out of school and it’s too hot to wear a jacket and tie. Ridiculous.

It’s teacher work day, we need to close the courthouse. Does anyone who has kids work outside the courthouse? Was Publix closed, gas stations, doctors offices, construction workers, etc

Like anybody cares. Nobody is going to the courthouse in the middle of a threatening storm whether Tuter says so or not. Judges certainly won’t. They use any excuse to skip work. Most only work two days a week and even then leave after lunch.
