The female vote was split by Di Ioia. Now Nina wins in General. Head to head with a male the female wins. Like Judge McCarthy over Salomon.

Destry will have to figure out another way to pay for the farm ! He brought it all on himself. No loss.

Broward judges just don’t get the message. Now Destry goes down the drain. The Broward Judicial Sewer is still in need of a good clean out. He’s just the most recent among a whole raft of self righteous idiots that got so wrapped up in the act they forgot what it is they were really supposed to be doing.
Destry had multiple opportunities to learn from his mistakes but arrogance precluded him from doing so.
Learning the hard way must at least have come to him as a bit of a shock, even for one that isn’t too bright. But I’ll bet this guy hasn’t really learned a thing except that he’s going to be looking for another job, hopefully one pushing paper and not one where he has to deal with too many people.

Another arrogant Broward judge gets it handed to him or even better, taken away from him. One of the least respected judges on the Broward bench, certainly one of the most controversial of late, he couldn’t even hold onto a simple job like being a neutral arbiter and he’s so stupid he still doesn’t know why. Lol

Carpenter-Toye???? Really?? DUI ….owned a bar. Hasn’t Broward learned anything? Rosenthal, Imperato ring a bell.

I cannot believe anyone would think voting for that looney toon over Satz was a good idea. She ran a trashy, underhanded, and dishonest campaign. Good riddance!

Mitch the head of the Democratic Party slapped upside the head by Brenda Forman ? You’re getting soft as well as stupid, Mitch. Maybe time for testosterone supplements. You’re a bigger whimp these days than ever. Momma’s little boy just got his butt whipped ! LOL you’re running out of people to cry to Mitchka.

It isn’t even funny when someone so unqualified for a position wins for any reason, fair or unfair. It is a sad day when candidates are elected because of who they know, who they sleep with or because of the color of their skin. And it will be all of the electorate in Broward County complaining at how much worse the clerk’s office gets with her running the show. I, for one, don’t want to hear it. You blew it Broward. Time to reap the whirlwind.

These judicial political pimp types in Broward have been left holding the bag yet again for their actions that go far beyond the line of duty Matt Destry likes to tout as apparently his only qualification to be a judge.

Well, much to his surprise and the rest of the judicial elites, he was tossed onto the ever growing junk pile of Broward judges that find themselves having to put up a fight for what they believe was bestowed on them by divine right.

They are finding that that’s not the case these days. There’s a New Magna Carta in effect in Broward. One that makes judges anserable for their actions come election time, and one that’s not being lost in all the empty judicial rhetoric tossed about by talking heads in the Broward Judicial Club in order to stay as a siphon of public funds and Fat Perks.

Dim witted Matt Destry was forced onto the field of battle and handily defeated by one better girded for the job, and it’s this reader’s opinion that many more Broward judges will soon come to learn the same lesson in elections in the future.

Sometimes you have to drag these Broward judges through the mud on the field of battle to remind them of who they really serve.

Destry should have known this already with his military experience.
Arrogance and obstinancy is no substitute for Honor and Justice.

    Broward judges be warned.

He was like the fortune seeker that knows not the cost of fame. Like so many other judges on the Broward County bench.
And we thought it was just the airhead bimbos like Rosenthal, Pollack and Imperato. This dude was former military and was supposed to know self discipline. He’s been out of line since he was handed the position by the JNC.
He fell into it and just as easily fell out of it. Easy come may be the thing that causes these jokers to go off the deep end so fast.
At any rate, Broward is a better place without Destry sitting on the bench.

Thank goodness I don’t have to listen to Destry’s shitty music anymore. He’s so rude cranking it up when others are trying to work.

At least there’s one less Robinson to muddle through a case with due to her retirement. That just leaves dumber hubby. Could never understand much of what was going on in her courtroom and I’m convinced she didn’t either most of the time. Just my call as I see it.
The only Broward judge who was equally as bad, also retiring, was Woosey Suzie who appeared to me to be so out of it most of the time it was anybody’s guess what was going on. But it never seemed to bother her as long as she could bring her dog to court. I’m not so sure her pup didn’t understand more of what was going on than she did. Lol.
Big changes in Broward as the old and not so with it judicial guard heads towards assisted living.
But as Martha Stuart would say, it’s a good thing. These old shape shifters in black needed to head on down the road. They certainly never did much but muck up the works and we’re just fortunate enough to slide on out before the bill came due with their pensions intact.
Broward needs a massive overhaul of its judges. This is a good start. Let’s hope we get some able people to replace those retiring.

All he had to do was wait for Mr. Green. Now he’s Mr. Destry. Because he couldn’t wait for Mr. Green in reasonable fashion.

greenwald helped expose (re expose) the Destry shenanigans to the world. Don’t forget Destry had a competitor last election too. So it only took 2 tries! Anyway, enjoy a Happy Halloween and every other holiday you missed! Remember the times Destry kept the state and Pd and whatever witnesses and personnel had to be in court; until 10 at night…because that final VOP or motion to suppress had to go. Oh no he wasn’t bifurcating anything. And who’s up next? Robinson? Has anyone been in Robinson? One word wow.

I give Greenwald all the credit for getting the ball rolling right over Destry. You can say what you want about Brian, he was never going to win the prize, but he stood up to that moron like he was General Patton ! Thanks Brian. It wouldn’t have happened without your courage!

      1. 0

        0

Nice attempt to try putting a positive spin on Greenwald – but Brian’s family paying the filing fee to run had nothing to do with it.

It was the press coverage of that case that forced Destry to change the sentence, and that case (which Brian fouled up by some accounts), put a spotlight onto Destry. Brian was hardly the only person to pay a filing fee to run for judge this primary season.

Instead, all he really succeeded in is bringing more attention to some gun road rage thing. Not to mention he had to file that financial disclosure which showed he has a negative net worth and that he talks a big talk about his practice as it shows he only makes about what he did as a PD.

Plus he had to pay about 3 or 4 fines to the election commission out of his own pocket for failing to submit forms on time, which is something he really can’t afford.

So you are voting on someone based on the color of their skin? That sounds the most racist to me. Why wouldn’t you at least try and figure out why Ian was not re-elected before? Honestly, that was my main reason for not voting for him. There must have been a reason why he was not re-elected previously. Let’s vote based upon what a judge has done. What do co-workers and the public who has been before them had to say about demeanor in the court room. Isn’t that what matters? Not the person’s past or the persons’ family or friends…simply HOW DOES HE OR SHE do his or her job? Are they good at what they do? Are they fair an unbiased? The color of the judge’s skin should not matter…how he or she holds up the law should.

How could you say that princess Nina is going to be gone in Nov? Did you see the picture of her with the Africans? Black lives obviously do in fact matter to her or she would not have put herself in that dangerous situation, right?

Why did Di Pietro spend $300,000 against
candidates with no money? She should have taken it in the first round. Mitch Cesar had a big war and still got monkeys stomped. This will happen to Di Pietro as well in November no matter the turnout.

Oh, my mistake, she has the Marilyn Monroe factor or she thinks she does.

As many of you know, Judge Dale Ross retires on August 31st of this week. As such, we wanted to publicly recognize Judge Ross for his dedication and tireless work for the 17th Circuit for the past 30+ years. In his usual way Judge Ross did not want any fanfare but I think we would be remiss in failing to recognize his contributions to the circuit.

Judge Ross served as Chief Judge for 16 years, served as a county court judge and served in the probate and civil divisions after his tenure as Chief Judge. During his time on the bench he must have covered thousands of days of motion calendars, special set hearings and untold number of days in trial. In addition to the work of the circuit he attended years of after hour bar events, judge’s conferences, judges meetings, and events related to service as chief judge.

On behalf of Chief Judge Weinstein and the many people who worked for and with Judge Ross, court administration, judicial assistants, the sheriff’s office, the clerk’s office, magistrates, hearing officers, court reporters and of course his judicial colleagues past and present, we wish Judge Ross a happy, healthy and prosperous retirement and thank him for a lifetime of dedication and service to the people of Broward County and State of Florida.

Best wishes to Judge Ross and his family

Who advised Judge Nina to spend 300 large to come in second? At least Judge Destry didn’t break his personal piggy bank. How much of Judge Nina’s personal money is gone? 100 large?

DiPietro made a big mistake in posing for a photo with a group of African Americans. That is not going to help her one bit. We all know that she was just using all of us for a photo Op. She WILL BE OUT IN NOVEMBER. And you are a RACIST for saying that she was in danger posing for the photo with a group of Blacks, you are a TRUE RACIST MAKING A STATEMENT LIKE THAY!!! Ian Richards for judge !!! BLACK VOTES MATTER AND BLACK LIVES MATTER!!! Our voices and votes will be heard loud and clear in November !!!

Give Destry a break. At least he didn’t get a DUI while sitting in the chair. That should count for something even if he still ranks in the top 10% for worst Broward Judges ever.

    To Judge Destry:

I stood when you walked in because that’s the law.

I was pleasant to you when you were recklessly sentencing people, because my families livelihood depended on it.

And for the same reason I didn’t say anything when you told the newspaper you couldn’t understand why you were being run against by so many lawyers.

I ate your holiday food because it was free.

I wish the lesson you are learning as of yesterday takes hold. You have much to learn and will be a better person for it.

Box out Barner. Even though its only County Court we cannot allow anyone with the lack of judicial temperament and low quality lawyering to be on the bench. She is not qualified to sit even in traffic. She cannot make a living in private practice so she is looking for a soft job on the low bench. Give handsomely to her opponent. I will………….

The next time I see Brian Greenwald in the courthouse hallway, I am going to thank him for his efforts, initiative and gumption to take the bull by the horns and run in this past election. Yes, every person is entitled to their opinions, but what I find so distasteful are the nasty and negative remarks that several have said about him. I think we all have to agree that the initial goal was to try to unseat Judge Destry, which mostly due to Greenwald was accomplished yesterday. One has to assume that the negative remarks passed about Greenwald are because those people really don’t know him or possibly he kicked a** against you in the courtroom. Greenwald had the guts to throw his hat into the rink and fight for the betterment for Broward County. What have any of YOU ever contributed? Let’s say for argument sake that Duffy, Rifkin and Curry were not on the ballot. Totaling the votes they received = 113,451. Now let’s say people got to the poll and only 30% of the 113,451 voted for Greenwald, plus the votes he actually did get. Greenwald would have WON! So the next time some of you small minded peons want to pass judgement …. remember who out of the bunch of you actually had the guts to throw his hat into the rink and do something about what you’ve all be complaining about for eons?

    1. 0

      0

Throw his hat into the RING. Not Rink. This isn’t ice skating. And you apparently went to law school to avoid math. You are assuming that 30% of the $113,451 went for Greenwald and 0% went to Destry, which is just mentally challenged thinking.

Greenwald tried to parlay negative publicity about a bad judge into a cushy job. I don’t fault him for doing that. It’s happened many a time before and will happen again. It didn’t work out as he hoped, and that sucks for him.

Thanks to Greenwald for getting the ball rolling against Destry. Either Duffy or Rifkin is an improvement over what we have.

    2. 3

      0

The logic of your statement assumes Greenwald would have done better had he won, which of course he did not, therefore making Broward a better place.
I disagree. He would have made it worse. And I’ve had trials with him that he’s lost each time. He’s no Perry Mason. Lol

    3. 0

      0

By the way, the expression goes “throw one’s hat in the RING”, not ‘rink’…

And I like most cannot buy what you’re peddling about Greenwald – all he did is pay a filing fee, right?! Didn’t like four others also pay the same fee? How is that unique or courageous…

And I love your faux math – but the bottom line is Greenbald came in dead last out of all 5, doesn’t that tell you something? (p.s. you also spelled judgment wrong)

Beer company order’s halt to “Miller Time” campaign

TIM JAMISON, Courier Staff Writer Nov 7, 2003 0
    WATERLOO –
It may have been “Miller time” Tuesday, but times – and campaign slogans – change.

Don’t expect Doug Miller, who finished atop the voting in Tuesday’s mayoral election, to use the beer company slogan in the run-up to his Dec. 2 runoff election showdown with Tim Hurley.

Miller Brewing Co., which has a federal trademark on the phrase “It’s Miller Time,” has ordered Miller to quit using the slogan in his campaign advertising.

“It’s something we’ve developed a great deal of equity in,” said company spokesperson Molly Reilly. “We don’t want to confuse our beer drinkers about what we stand for. We wish him luck. But Miller Time stands for great times with friends over great beer.”

The idea to use the beer company slogan was a good-natured play on Hurley’s “It’s Time” campaign theme. It appeared in newspaper and television advertising during the race.

“It’s just a light-hearted thing we came up with,” he said.

But after an anonymous Waterloo resident contacted the company about the potential trademark infringement, Miller received a letter from corporate lawyers telling him to stop.

“When we explained to them that some of the advertising was on line and prepaid, they said it was OK to use it through Nov. 3,” Miller said. He will not use the slogan any longer.

  33. 3

I am sure Dale Miller will not be running for office again so no chance of seeing the ‘Miller Time” slogan return.
Maybe he lost because he didn’t have a fake card?
