This case still hasn’t been disposed with an Executive Order from the Supreme Court. Speedy was expired well after notice…. a mistrial occurred and resulted in a double jeopardy prohibition. The mistrial occurred well over a year. What is his lawyer doing?…. something seems fishy… the defendant had valid arguments in his motions. I guess when a defendant becomes”pro se” it becomes easier to expose Broward court abnormalities. The lawyers sure aren’t.

This was Judge Diaz case before he disqualified himself sua sponte, he also declared a mistrial sua sponte without attempting to remove the jeopardy. He runs his courtroom well.

No. This particular defendant has had too many pending cases working in his favor. The jerk has had about 10 felony cases and about 8 misdemeanors cases. I only see one misdemeanour trespass conviction resulting from a lesser included offense in a burglary trial with a co defendant. It looks like he appealed the felony case in Duffy he has a lot of nolle pross on that case.

Not making any excuses for the defendant but have you read majority of the probable cause affidavits written against the defendant. It never has facts just suspicions. Either he is sneaky or he pissed somebody off. I think BOTH.

I dont see anything on the record that his attorney did… Everything I click on was written and filed by the defendant. His motions aren’t to bad but sometimes he rambles the same arguments. I’m assuming for emphasis. Someone definitely will get ineffective assistance of counsel if this defendant goes to jail. The proof is in the pudding– er– I mean motions. I see a pending Nelson Hearing as well.

The police department’s, the state attorney, the judges and even the defense attorneys dont care about justice. They dont know the difference between a real case and a made up case. They will waste taxpayer dollars going to trial with no evidence tangible or testimonial. They just argue their personal “hunches” somehow the defense attorney still loses the case because the jury is confused and the defense attorneys are too scared to object or preserve anything for appeal.

The Public Defenders Office may have been on autopilot for the last couple of years, but the administration stepped up with COVID. Howard took immediate steps to try to protect his employees. Howard, Gordon, and Adam went above and beyond in making sure we could maintain client contact during restrictions put on jail visits. All of the “do nothing” chiefs have been working their ass off since this mess started, without any complaint. I have a newly enhanced respect for the Public Defender and his management team.
