TUTER TO CONRAD & SCHERER?

Welcome back, Jack?

From the Daily Business Review “Tuter’s 3rd Chapter: Chief Judge Steps Down,” published earlier today:

Is Jack referring to Conrad & Scherer, where he worked prior to being appointed to the bench?

Definitely a wait and see …

I was lucky enough to have two or three great jobs in my career, all of which helped me prepare to be a judge. But there are so many people in this room who helped me. Bill Scherer is one of them … I don’t think I’d be standing here without Bill, and it’s easy to say his longtime friendship with Jeb Bush that didn’t hurt any, at all” – Jack Tuter

It’s refreshing how JT admits rising to the bench is based upon whom one knows. It’s got nothing to do with anything else.
I respect him for admitting it because most of them won’t.

Who else would take Tuter ? As a former government grunt he’s practically worthless.
Although, what he could possibly be called an expert in is highly questionable.
It’s what is known as colloquially a graveyard gig.

Lawyers with lots of free time become the Judges.
Elections or behind the scenes networking to get an appointment are full time jobs.
Successful lawyers can’t do either because they’re so dang busy.

Broke lawyers become judges and then work for chicken feed to pull in a regular paycheck. These aren’t stellar legal minds or talented practitioners we’re talking about. At least not the ones we have in Broward. It’s bottom of the barrel nickel counters who aren’t good at anything else.

Oh some of them are very smart. They’ve done well in private or married well or inherited money. Then they just do the Judge thing to stay busy. And some of the complex litigation is challenging.

This’s a point well taken. Because I believe judicial pay should actually be cut. It’s just high enough to attract bottom feeders who have no business sitting in judgement of anything besides a Denny’s menu and it’s too high for rich&lazy lawyers as was mentioned in your writing. Boyo boy don’t even get me going on the plain stupid pensions either. They’re too expensive and wasteful for the same reasons and more truthfully because there’s too many on the judiciary that don’t bother working in the afternoon. They’re like part time workers. I can hope all this DOGE stuff does come here sometimes soon because the judiciary in Florida (federal too like the Senior status) and elsewhere is soooo inefficient and wasteful. Mr. Musk are you listening?

Honestly, a judge should be paid the same as a senior prosecutor and senior public defender. Each plays an equally important role.

Never going to happen pal. Quit crying, and being jealous that you couldn’t win an election and be a judge. Go back to playing games and chasing women on your computer. Oh that’s right, none of them wanted any part of you either.

I like how he completely screwed up the pandemic response and now they say he’s like some kind of hero for it. For crying out loud Miami ran perfectly day 1 and West Palm didn’t close at all.

          1. 4

            1

LOL I understand you dislike Tuter but to say WPB never closed and Miami was perfect is ridiculous. I was in trial in WPB and you’re right that the Chief kept the courthouse open—until multiple people got COVID. Then the shit hit the fan. In Miami, some lawyer went to court wearing a hazmat suit. None of the south Florida counties kept bringing jurors in.

Civil may have been ok, but Criminal here in Broward was an unmitigated disaster by any standard of measurement.

Oh, yeah. Tuter was some kind of Anthony Fauci Farce. He did nothing but confuse the situation as I remember, exhibited no leadership quality and bounced back and forth trying to glean as much attention as he could while throughly screwing up the situational response. All this while neighboring counties ran smoothly without any of the unnecessary drama reminiscent of a daytime soap opera.
Embarrassing really. The only place Tuter shined was maybe at a ribbon cutting ceremony. It’s the only thing had any talent for; getting his picture taken and pandering to complete morons.

If she’s as lazy in her podcasts as she was on the bench, it ain’t going nowhere. Anyway. Who would be interested watching a clueless twit doing her twerking routine?
She’s better off back under daddy’s wing.

The career is heading towards Only Fans. In the latest short, Lizzie calls another woman “stupid” which can’t be a smart move. She’s got the body for OF and has to be a solid pipe plank though. The future is bright.

The funny thing about this blog is the people think Criminal actually matters. It’s a career ender for most judges. And most of the lawyers want to retire but can’t—having to support multiple spouses and kids and working until they die.

Expert witness for attorney fees. That’s a contingency agreement too? I can exaggerate the fees and get reimbursed after the judge reduced but 10-15% of that recovery ain’t bad.

They make more than most federal workers.

Federal Judges will be held accountable by Musk, and so should those in state.

    Where’s Desantis?

Trump’s supplicants in Congress control the pursestrings for the federal judiciary so I agree and don’t see why they shouldn’t be held accountable like the little federal employees getting screwed now but nothing will happen at the State level so shut up.

Those salaries under Article III can never be reduced. Far be it from a lawyer to actually read the U.S. Constitution.

Senior status is a semi-retirement option for federal judges who meet certain age and service requirements. Judges can take senior status at age 65 with 15 years of service, or any combination of age and service that adds up to 80.
        Eligibility:

Be at least 65 years old
Have served at least 10 years on the bench
        Meet the “Rule of 80”

        Benefits:

Continue to receive full salary and benefits
        Receive annual cost-of-living increases
Maintain a staffed office and chambers

        Responsibilities:

Handle at least a quarter of the caseload of an active judge to qualify for future salary increases

Can choose to handle a reduced caseload
Can decide the types of cases they handle

Now you know the reason, bottom feeder lawyers are always on this blog, crying about judges. They have nothing, and would give their left nut to be a judge, with all the benefits.

            Chump change !
Only unsuccessful spuds that can’t make it in private practice want to be judges. Then they become miserable with the chump change and get nasty but can’t think of what else to do but suck off taxpayers for as long as they can and don’t perform the way they should. Plenty of examples around here. Losers in Black.

I highly doubt it, he don’t have time for people that are green with envy. You couldn’t win an election, you will never be a judge, and you will always be to broke to retire.

It doesn’t surprise me at all that now that Tuter has served his two terms as CJ with his head in the sand, that he’s now going skip out once again without having accomplished anything but provide cover for a bunch of judges who likewise do as little as they can get away with. Empty courtrooms and lax schedules have become the standard for Broward Judges.
I have no doubt that should Judicial schedules be looked at carefully, that we could make due with half the judges we have now and at least half the judicial staff.

Not a chance ja’s have become the most obnoxious and power hungry people since I can’t remember the old hags protecting the Hollywood judges. If you didn’t kiss their ass you never got on motion calendar or a special set. Such hags. And the judges laughed but that whole group was in kahoots just as the Fort Lauderdale los olas judges are now.
        The place stinks
Ever try and file pleading in the clerks office. What a joke take a number, no we don’t take numbers, and I only stamp in supplemental pleadings, no summons issued here. Next window please. Talk about maybe cross training the employees and having them cross dressing
        Just saying
When is the courthouse and Fort Lauderdale Police Department gonna fall down because of structural concrete cracks that are not integral to the integrity of the structure?
And the same contractors one way or another.

Non of your f**king business loser. Get a life, and stop sticking your nose where it don’t belong. Do you really have that much free time? Try to find a innocent client, you can screw over and get sent to prison again. Maybe if you had your sick mind on what you were doing, you could be a better lawyer, but I doubt it. You need to retire old man. It just sucks, you can’t afford to.

Just check the judge’s parking lot to point the finger of blame for empty courtrooms and missing judges to find the answer to cutting waste. Judges in Broward don’t do squat unless you count dodging work.

    1. 1

      1

Why don’t they open up the judges parking lot to the public to use because all the judges are at home zooming.

Today’s judiciary isn’t full of one trick pony brain dead types like it was in the past.
Why can’t the CJ make sure the work is evenly distributed? I mean most of the people I know on the bench aren’t lazy, and they’re smart.
Why wouldn’t they share workloads and handle all types of cases?
If someone has everything wash out, why would they go home instead of picking up either a civil or criminal matter when there’s so much to do system wide?
It never made any sense when year after year they’d ask for new judicial positions when the old ones weren’t utilized efficiently.
I’m no Musk fan but maybe this’s a good thing to make Administration finally show some leadership and behave efficiently by making sure everyone has something to do every single day until 5 pm???

JT is nowhere near the CJ Dale Ross was. Judge’s hated Dale because he held them accountable.

JT let’s the inmates run the asylum and they take advantage of it. An AO from JT to the judicial staff means nothing but scratch paper

The founder of this blog screamed bloody murder when the Bar and clerk Forman were trying to silence him but it seems he is a hypocrite. But hey spoiled entitled girlie boys with silver spoons usually protect their fellow club members and be damned with being judged by the company one keeps.
AG Bondi has the Epstein file on her desk. Once Trumps name is cleaned up it will be front page news as it should be!
A movement comprised of brave victims, dads, brothers, boyfriends and husbands will not be silenced who are bonded by their detest of child sex abuse and trafficking. Anyone who tries to assist in silencing legitimate criticism and outing of folks who defend and profit from enabling the perpetrators of such heinous acts against young girls need to be outed as well.
Its a rightous movement and trying to stop individuals who have the courage to speak truth to power will have about as much luck as one would sticking a finger in a crack to stop a dyke ready to burst

The whole thing’s a tragedy but let’s not lose sight of Hackman’s poignant performance in Lies My Father Told Me, directed by Broward’s very own Harry Gulkin. Hackman was great in so many things but his work under Gulkin’s direction is widely credited as a breakthrough performance for Gene.

          1. 3

            0

That was back when there was so much drug money flowing around South Florida that a lawyer could produce a half way decent movie assuming they had the storytelling chops that Glupkin possessed and used to attract talent like Gene Hackman.

Why don’t the County Judges handle the ticket cases like they’re supposed to instead of paying for the magistrate programs.

It’s no secret the County Judges have plenty of free time.

Why not DOGE the magistrate traffic nonsense programs?

  13. 3

Its no secret. Judges in Broward carry very light workloads while crying they need more judges. When its looked into, the abuse of public funds is outrageous. The only reason they seek these positions is because of the benefits and no judicial oversight. Its a free for all with no administration of Judicial assets to the point that its laughable.

  14. 2

    3

When you figure in taxes and the fact that judges have little to no write-offs, judges make chump change. The only lawyers who would want the jobs are desperate bean counters.

      1. 11

I always believed the older lawyers with the skills made the best of the bench. They aren’t doing it for money, certainly. They’d set up their families, and then take the bench as a public service for less earnings. I think it all went south when the governors took over the nominating commissions. Then it became about patronage and also young prosecutors being first in line. As far as elections are concerned on the other end of the judicial spectrum—-it’s a crapshoot.

        1. 3
