UPDATE

The following request was sent to Brenda a short time ago via email:

“(I)t has come to my attention since posting excerpts from your SAO personnel file regarding the 9/11 incident between yourself and Tom Coleman that Tom tragically lost an Uncle and a cousin in the terrorist attacks. My question is whether or not you knew of the Coleman family’s losses when you submitted your complaint on 9/12, or at any other time during the grievance process through mediation or any other conclusion, and if you did, why you didn’t withdraw the complaint after learning of his personal tragedies associated with the event.”

If Forman responds, JAABLOG will update accordingly.  In the meantime, our sincere condolences to the Coleman family for what we now know to be an irreplaceable and staggering loss, and apologies for having to go down this road.  Once everyone learns of the Bar’s most recent actions on behalf of Brenda, hopefully everyone will understand …

FYI Stop filing complaints against people. It really doesn’t work out well for you. If you hadn’t filed the complaint on coleman this would have never seen the light of day.

Bogus Claims are to go to Judge Rosemarie Scher’s court.
It seems pay for play lawyers are allowed to grab her ass, so you know she’s game, for the games.
She’ll open up old bogus cases too and do all the case law work too. And then recuse herself when the experts and witnesses file in.

Not sure Brenda has a very high IQ. This type of reasoning is quite out of her hotheaded league. How she became clerk is total character politics. Or name recognition. She’s untalented and one slothful step away from gutter she crawled out of.

Guys in my high school liked to keep their name in the school paper until after the Class President election was over. It was no big deal.

Sounds to me like these morons don’t have enough work to do …
And what work Brenda has done since she became Clerk of Courts has only managed to make that office less efficient. Nothing much surprises me about this woman considering the way she has behaved in the past.
My impressions of Coleman is that of a sputtering fuse that goes flat rather quickly without so much as a whimper. Neither of them are very bright.
Taxpayers deserve better than either one of them.

If you ask me: Coleman’s always been a bumbling hothead. Forman is just imbecilic opportunist with bad taste and no visible talent and even less sense. I can only hope voters see thru the name game next time. My bet is Brenda Forman loses by double digits in 2020 and hopefully is never heard from again. The Clerk’s Office is a mess.

Broward Clerk Brenda Forman Is Again Proven Unfit For Office

    BY BUDDY NEVINS

It has become increasingly clear that the election of Broward Clerk of the Courts Brenda Forman in 2016 was a disaster.

Everyday she proves she is unfit for office.

Unfit because of her lack of skills.

Unfit because of her repeated lack of veracity. She has an unfamiliarity with the truth that’s astounding.

She lied to the court about the reasons for her divorce from former Clerk Howard Forman. She lied to the authorities about attorney Bill Gelin.

She has lied so much that she is now being investigated by prosecutors for lying in the wrong place — under oath.

Today Gelin found yet another incident where co-workers believed that Forman and the truth were strangers.

A writer for the courthouse blog JAAB, Gelin obtained through a public records request memos from her personnel file when she worked for the State Attorney’s Office.

Once again it indicates that some believe she lied.

But what’s truly amazing is her lack of sensitivity and common sense as the nation was mourning the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Memos reproduced on Gelin’s blog detail her reaction to the State Attorney’s Office closing on Sept. 11, 2001 because of the attacks.

Co-workers in the State Attorney’s Office were transfixed by the spectacle unwinding on the world’s television screens. No doubt some were sobbing.

    But Forman?

Forman whooped out loud with apparent joy when she heard the news over a loudspeaker that the office was closing. She was happy to be getting off from work early.

A supervisor who had family in the World Trade Center chided her for being happy. She had a confrontation with the supervisor.

And what was she concerned about in her memo explaining the incident. “No one, I mean no one came to my aid,” she wrote and underlined.

Co-workers shocked and watching the TV in horror should have dropped everything and come to her aid. What a self-centered jerk!

She claims the supervisor threatened her. He and several others claimed that she exaggerated the situation.

Others backed her up. The incident was settled through mediation.

Her allegations about the 9/11 incident details another thread running through her public life: Brenda Forman has a chip on her shoulder bigger than the courthouse itself.

The definition of having a chip on ones shoulder is this: The act of holding a grudge or grievance that readily provokes disputation. It can also mean a person thinking too much of oneself (often without the credentials) or feeling entitled.

That definition sums up everything I believe about Brenda Forman.

Gelin should be congratulated for his dogged pursuit of the truth in the matters concerning Forman.

Here is a question because I know in judicial elections the people endorsed by the police and firefighters unions always make a big squawk about it.

Do those unions endorse or carry any weight in the Clerk Courts race?

    If anyone knows please.

I can no longer sit by and watch the destruction of the Clerk of Court office.

I may have graduated at the bottom of my class, but at least I have a degree.

    I don’t have a spotless record –
    I beat my ex-wife.
My wife took out domestic violence restraining orders against me.
I got sued for failing to provide child support.
I was reprimanded for neglecting my clients, lying to my supervisors and professional negligence.
I was fired for unprofessional behavior.
    I failed in private practice.
    I may abuse intoxicating substances.
I may have been temporarily suspended by the bar for failing to complete my CLE (twice).
    I may be considered insane,

BUT – I NEVER celebrated the 9-11 terrorist attacks by shouting “woohoo”

VOTE RICHARD BRIAN KAPLAN for Clerk of Court – ensuring liberty and no terrorist attack celebrations for all.

    1. 12

      0

Brenda was woohooing over getting the rest of the day off which is typical for what’s now going on in the Clerk’s Office with a bunch of morons that run from you when you show at the window. Getting off work early and getting paid for doing nothing is what any of those morons would celebrate. If you ask me Forman is a few notches above being totally incompetent for the job. Come 2020 things will probably be different after she most probably loses re-election after all this and other behavioral malfunctions continue to be made public. You can bet her former husband will use it to get her ousted by voters. He wasn’t much better when he was clerk wandering around the courthouse like a lost puppy in a rain storm. Political Pea Brains both of them.

  8. 6

    1

I hear Holness, Stern and the NAACP are pushing Ruby hard to leave Gordon alone and run for Clerk. So far she has held fast in the PD race. They will probably try and convince her they can raise her a bunch of money and that a black has to keep the clerk seat.

    1. 9

      0

Holness is my boy. He will support who ever I say – unless someone else pays him more. I’m going with Lynch for PD and Old man Forman for Clerk. This time Holness will deliver.

    2. 6

      3

Ruby Doo would easily win for clerk. The 2 formans would cancel ea other out, and she has the edge over Brenda bc of her issues.

Besides in the very likely chance she doesn’t win the PD race, she is probably gonna be fired by the winner based on her childish way of badmouthing the other candidates.

        1. 4

          2

Stop lying about Ruby. She has not said anything bad about others in the race.

      1

Ruby should do that. Obviously the Clerks Office can’t get any worse leadership than that angry old SAO secretary who can’t spell or stay out of trouble. Or keep married to old Forman.

Ruby could do well as a head secretary/clerk of sorts. Doubt any of those gals in the window would listen to her though. They’d laugh at her. But she’d have the government job.

  9. 2

    7

Hell to the yes. The Clerk seat should be held by a black female and one that tells the truth like Ms.Ruby.

    1. 8

      0

Race should have nothing to do with who wins as clerk in 2020.

The clerk’s office needs someone who is competent whose name is not Forman. Howard Forman did nothing to improve the clerk’s office when he was clerk and Brenda has made it even worse if that’s possible. Citizens of Broward County deserve a clerk that does something other than soak taxpayers for doing nothing except politic on the taxpayer’s dime.

  10. 14

    3

    How do we know?
By the fact that others are trying to convince her to switch to run for the clerks seat. Come on. CLEARLY the other candidates are running scared. Ruby don’t change a thing. Women win when they run. Women win when they run.
    Women win when they run!
Ruby: When you have a tough day turn to other strong women to lift you up. Gordon is more of the same. Not a bad guy. But part of the old regime that promoted based on friendship even when it flies in the face of reason. A regime that promoted people that never went to trial, were in the same division for years (see Michaelson, Newman) and did nothing but take up space in those divisions. Now you have a bunch of inept lawyers in charge of supervising the new lawyers. It’s an embarrassment. Green light the change. Out with the old and in with the new.

Ruby has a chance to win? Doubtful. I’d pick Gordon between the two PDs. Seems like a good guy & is, I assume much more experienced. I’ve personally never seen Ruby or Gordon in court. Ruby just seems like another Miriam Oliphant/Brenda Snipes/Brenda Forman… unfit at this time. Maybe in 4-8 years. If she’s still unhappy in her position at the PD.

An outsider (of Government) like Conway or Lynch would be much better suited to shake things up. In terms of merit. And will win. I’ve seen Conway in court many times. And Lynch seems like a decent guy from his materials etc. I’ve been before him when he was a judge once. Conway has had the success, trials & has his own practice. Jim Lewis doesn’t seem like a good fit. Good luck to all.

I’d like to say, who would want to be a Judge, State, or PD when the Clerkship is up for grabs? To each her own, but 1. the pay is higher $178,865 and 2. the job is easier and 3. its a job for life if you tell the truth. Plus the Clerk can parlay it into gold in the private sector after retiring. What does a retired Judge or PD usually make?

    1. 0

      0

Plus there is nobody with half s brain running for clerk. Any decent secretary could win.

I hear Commissioner Dale Holness has said that his goal is to have 20 black judges on the bench by 2020. Currently there are 11 black Judges. No judges are termed out and none have announced they are leaving. Incumbents have to get targeted to accomplish this goal.

Holness is blowing nothin but hot air into a rubber balloon. It takes courage to take on a sitting judge in this sticky finger county when you’re not a successful attorney and have to go after government slop. More than half the judges on the bench in Broward used becoming a Broward judge as a fallback position because they failed at making any money. Look at what we’ve got as a result.

      2. Lynch: 17,750 (plus his own loan of 25k)
      3. Conway: $31,550

    Why, why, why?
Why would Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, GOP chairman Joe Gruters and House Speaker José Oliva — the son of Cuban immigrants — resort to every maneuver in the legislative book in pursuit of sweeping legislation that turns state agencies into surrogates of immigration law enforcement?
    Money.
Why would they stand against the best economic interests of a state highly invested in agriculture and tourism, not to mention Florida’s proud Spanish heritage, to turn police into agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement?
    Money.
Why would they defy the better judgment of police departments, state agencies, civil rights groups — and immigrants pleading for the safety of their families — to pass an anti-sanctuary-cities bill in a state where there aren’t any, and in the process, gratuitously create a hostile environment for Hispanic communities?
    Money.
The nation’s largest private-prison operator is based in Florida, and they’re big donors to the GOP, nationwide and in the state.
You might have heard of them back when they were Wackenhut, founded in Coral Gables by a former FBI agent with deep roots in the Republican Party. But it’s now The GEO Group — and its government contracts, handled out of Boca Raton/Highland Beach operations, according to the Sludge investigation “Who is Making Money from ICE in Your State,” amount to $48,224,145.

RUBY LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE KNOWS GORDON AND THAT’S THE REASON SHE’S RUNNING AGAINST HIM FOR PD
SHE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN A PD VERY LONG BUT ANYONE WOULD DO A BETTER JOB THAN THE SLACKERS INCLUDING WEEKS WHO HAVE BEEN SLIDING ON THE BACKS OF ALL OF THE REST OF US FOR YEARS
THE SLACKERS HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH IT FOR YEARS AND THATS WHY SO MANY GOOD LAWYERS HAVE LEFT THE PD LEAVING IT TO THE SECOND RATE PEOPLE TO RUN IT INTO THE GROUND
        EVERYBODY KNOWS IT
THAT’S WHY LEWIS, GREEN AND LYNCH ENTERED THE RACE
IF I HAD TO GUESS GORDON WEEKS IS DONE ALREADY

Lynch shouldn’t be in the race. He was in fair to blacks. Clearly. And Weekes & Ruby seem to only be running to keep a job. I need to look into who else is running. Looks like this Conway has his heart in the game. Not beholden to Finklestein. Howard said he wants a black to win? So did Weekes? Ruby is black and female. What else? I’m Black @ I’ll judge on merit thanks. So should other Blacks. Why on earth would anyone vote for Ruby? Anyone? One reason she’s qualified?

    1. 13

Who’s the dumbest: Gordon or Kory ?
      Gordon’s boat has sailed. LOL
After Lynch becomes PD and finds out that neither one of them have done squat for years, the resumes will be flying.
Both of them most likely will wind up at Regional Counsel like the rest of the losers. Then they’ll have cases. LOL

    2. 8

      0

Talk about a moron. Kory needs a new salad bowl and a new job where he’s got something to do besides grease the pole.

That entire wing that faces the water along with the trainers, and supervisors should start job hunting now. Is former judge Lynch or Ruby going to keep Renee, Michaelson, Adam, Lorena, Rachel, Gordon, Kori, and all the others that have been skating for years? Seems unlikely.
If you haven’t had a trial in a few years (or 15+ years for some of you) then maybe go to trial in 2019. Guessing if Gordon does not win then a new firm will want to know you can handle cases, and clients. Training improperly, or giving bad legal advice will not count. Nor will it help that your father was a former PD that ordered coffee and that your current position is the result of nepotism. It might be time to take a few CLE’s on the rules of evidence, motion writing, and how to manage a caseload.

  18. 12

Funny how you keep trying to dance around naming the candidate most likely to win the election among the larger voting population:

    Not the one coming out of retirement;
    Not the one who has been working as an “administrator”;
…and not the one with very little experience.

  19. 15

    0

I agree. Furthermore, Jim has worked harder on more cases than any of the other twits including Pappy Lynch.
There’s more to him than the rest put together: A former Rossite and two Asst. Public Pretenders that couldn’t try a DUI case.

  21. 11

    1

I’m a fan of Jim Lewis. Jim is always in court. Jim does try cases. He does thorough discovery depositions and investigates cases. Jim should absolutely highlight these strengths while campaigning as ideally in an adversarial system the system works best when you have strong parties on each side. The PD office is currently top heavy and has way too many slackers. Way too many people phoning it in for years. There are lawyers that show up to work 2 days a week tops, and there’s not enough room on this blog to discuss the chiefs, trainers, supervisors that do nothing or worse: teach incorrect legal practices and rules.
The top dog of the office AKA The Public Defender should be a trial lawyer. Someone with courtroom experience so they’ve acquired good pre trial motion writing skills and resonate.
Absolutely. Gordon and Ruby both have trial experience. Ruby could use more. That doesn’t mean she’s not equipped to run the office. A job like that requires not just courtroom experience, but passion, stamina, a big heart. Though the heart has to be kept in check and so a good poker face and pre trial motion practice goes a long way. The clients deserve nothing less. She has that. Gordon?
I like Jim Lewis for the job. Yet, Jim has run before and lost. So I just don’t see how he will resonate and stand out to the voters.

    1. 15

      0

Gordon Weeks has little trial experience, and isn’t particularly well liked within the office. He’s lazy and hides out most of the time when he’s not campaigning. How these loafers get away with this is Howard’s fault who doesnt care because he’s on his way out. Howard hasn’t been in a courtroom either since he became PD so there’s the example set. The weirdest thing is all these so called trainers couldnt try their way out of a wet paper bag so why they pretend they know anything except how to avoid work is anyone’s guess. The PDs office has really suffered under these jokers and so have our clients. We need a new PD from outside the office who will correct the sad work ethic that’s been set by these people. It’s a bad state of affairs around here.

From everything you write, sounds like Sean Conway is the best candidate for the job.
Keep dancing around it, or become one of his many haters and be jealous,, but:

    *Trial experience (8 hat tricks!);
    *Front Page, NYTimes for the 1st amendment case re an indigent client;
…and currently the only candidate going 3x week to the Dem and Condo clubs!

  23. 10

    1

Sean had the reprimand or was it a suspension for calling judge Aleman a witch because she made you waive speedy 2 weeks into the case even if you had yet to receive discovery. He spoke truth to power. The bar didn’t like that he wrote about it on this blog. Some of the condo ladies may like him and vote for him. Who is supporting and rooting for Sean? Has he raised any money?

  24. 13

    1

You’re right: Conway spoke truth to power! (while representing an indigent man no less)

Plus he’s the only trial lawyer in the group (aside from Lewis)

But he isnt putting out one of those silly who’s who lists you are referring to ( the majority of regular voters never check those anyhow ).

Campaign Money? Conway isnt having any fundraisers or begging people for donations, but they still donate – as his Treasurer, I can report that Conway has close to $32,000 so far. His grass root plan only needs 10k for the filing fee, the rest is icing.

    1. 6

      2

Candidates who have no ability to raise money always talk about how they dont need have fundraisers. Why? Because they know, no one will show

Silly whos who list? Do you mean actual supporters of a campaign. Who needs that, lol.

Sean put in 30k and got two checks for a little over a grand. Not a great start.

      1. 6

        1

Lynch is pulling from his base in Hollywood big time already. Gordon Weeks is virtually tapped out already and Sean is pulling next to nothing and hoping for the best. Ruby is chump change and is only running to pull in a few votes from the others.
Lynch will win easily and Finkelstein’s lap dogs will all be looking to jump ship before they’re fired for doing nothing. So much for Finkelstein’s legacy that’s glued to all the people that have quit because they wouldn’t lick Finkelstein’s cowboy boots or are better lawyers that Finkelstein ever was. That includes the best lawyers and have left it to the sycophants who don’t carry caseloads because of their incompetence or the dummies who the cool aid has gone sour because of Howard’s self aggrandizing stand up gags over the years, or who cant get a job anywhere else.
The office has gradually slid into a state of backstabbing incompetent supervisors who create problems for everybody else so it looks like they are actually doing something for their large salaries while dodging handling any cases.

Unfortunately there is this thing called Facebook which has the pictures of over 200 people attending the event. Nice try

I only count 7x on that trial list where Conway got three acquittals in a row, not “8”

Gordo better start packing a doggy bag. 2020 is right around the corner and change from the status quo is coming and it wont include him by the looks of it.

Didn’t see Ruby at the Black Lives Matter march yesterday. Good to see Gordon made it out.

When is Gordon participating in the rally for the white guy who got slapped by the deputy while handcuffed to a hospital bed?

The families of these kids who were punched by the Sheriff’s Deputy knew enough not to get stuck with a crappy PD and hired Ben Cump and Sue Ann Robinson. Good to see Gordon spending time with these experienced lawyers, maybe they will teach him some trial skills.

Where was Ruby? Ruby was out supporting mentorship programs for inner city youth. She knows what is important and it is not grandstanding for people who are represented by private lawyers.

Is Gordon Weekes running also for public defender spot? So Ruby Green, Retired Judge Lynch. And Sean Conway? Is Ruby Jewish? My sisters name is Ruby. And Sean is the only one who isn’t a lifetime government person? Has he any experience in government work? I would think he’d need a bit but I also think the poor need good lawyers. Thank you for any information.

Gordon was a signor on the PROMISE Program that created the mechanism for Nick Cruz to avoid oversight and ultimately kill those MSD kids. Those murders are on Gordon’s hands as much as Israel and the Broward School Board.

      Is Ruby Jewish?

I thought she is related to Mr NHI Charlie Green

She’s Irish? That explains the spelling. Thank you. My son dated a nice young lady named Greene with beautiful teeth many years ago. If ms. Green sees this blog maybe she could post her information we’d love to have her out to both our fairly small Jewish Elder groups in Parkland and Coral Springs. And this Sean Conway as well if he pleases we’d love to meet the two Irish frontunners. Next I’ve been told to look into the Clerks office election. It’s very important to have equality for the indigent. It’s a shame what happened to the clerks office. Like our help you Howard said maybe Mr. Forman should return.

Right, you stopped by so it’s naturally ‘locked up’ !

The problem is everyone you meet knows how “green” you really are

And you can’t hide that fact – you write things like “LOL” in follow-up emails to the leaders of these groups.

Sorry Gordon, you don’t have a chance in the PD race. Worried about your future? After you lose the election the new PD will fire you for being lazy and incompetent. How will you survive? How will you earn an income?

Relax buddy, Kappy has your back!

I am going to be the next Clerk of Court. After my election, you could be the next CIVIL LITIGATION DIRECTOR at OCCRC. The job is a perfect fit for you.

Job Requirements: Pulse. Law Degree. Ability to rant and rave incoherently in court with occasional shouts of “due process” , “civil liberty” , “fundamental fairness” and “stick it to the man”.

Not Required: Any jury trial experience or trial skills.

Helpful but not required: Near bottom of law school class at third tier school. Poor work evaluations from DCF. Letters of reprimand from past employer for lack of truthfulness, ignoring clients, and/or professional negligence. Being fired for general incompetence. Domestic violence restraining orders against you from former wife. Being sued for failure to pay child support. Substance abuse issues. Being insane.

So there is hope for you after you lose the election. The OCCRC is the last hope of the hopeless.

Vote RICHARD BRIAN-KAPLAN for Clerk of Court 2020.
Ensuring liberty and government jobs for do nothing legal failures for all.
