WEEKES OUT!

Gordon Weekes has bailed out of participating in the PDO Debate sponsored by FIU College of Law and the League of Women Voters.

After confirming his appearance on September 17th, Weekes this morning stated he is unavailable, citing a scheduling conflict.  He would not elaborate further.

This is surely disheartening news to the other candidates running for the Public Defender spot, and to his colleagues at the PDO who have already sent emails to secure tickets for the December 4th event.  Weekes is the only one of twelve confirmed candidates for both SAO and PDO to cancel an appearance.

To all those PDO employees who have reserved tickets, kindly email SAOPDODEBATETICKETS@GMAIL.COM if you no longer want to attend.  Interest has been high, and your tickets can be redistributed.  Otherwise, anyone else wishing to attend please finish getting your requests in.  You will not receive a confirmation email, but rest assured your requests have been appropriately logged.

DISAPPOINTING …

DEBATE ? THAT WOULD BLOW MY COVER AND THEY’LL SEE JUST HOW DUMB I COME OFF

WHAT IF SOMEBODY ASKS WHEN THE LAST TIME IVE SEEN THE INSIDE OF A COURTROOM WAS OR WHAT MY CASELOAD IS OR WHAT IT IS THAT I ACTUALLY DO ?

I THINK I’LL STICK TO THE FRYING FISH

I just knew this putz would chicken out. He can’t stand up to Lynch or even Ruby. The chicken has been seen behind the curtain that he and Lit’l Howie set up.
He doesn’t even have the support of his own office.
Maybe it’s better that we don’t have to witness him embarrass himself.

You don’t back out of this golden opportunity to show what you are made of. What possible conflict can take precedence over this? Maybe his next move will be to withdraw from the race. Soul searching time for him.

This is the kind of audience he’s used to playing to …
The last thing he wants to do is to debate Tom Lynch

Weekes has raised very little money and isn’t a good public speaker, let alone putting him on a stage where he has to face the music.
I’m not surprised he’s dropped out of a candidate debate. He’s relying on the African American vote which won’t take him to the finish line a winner.
I have much greater admiration for Ruby Green or Thomas Lynch than i’ve Ever had for a guy that’s been dodging a caseload for years and then parading around like he’s a veteran politician. He’s a bad joke and nobody is convinced by him but the stupid or ill informed.
He’s blown his chance to impress voters of anything but the fact that he’s not cut out for the job and certainly not worthy of my vote.
You don’t say you’re going to participate, confirm it, and then come up with a lame excuse of a scheduling conflict. It shows the type of administration he’d head if he ever were to be elected as Public Defender.
The guy is not an idea man. Just another skater looking for benefits.

The fact that Gordon did not anticipate this kind of reaction regarding his decision to withdraw from the debate is the exact reason that he is not qualified to do the job of Public Defender.

    1. 15

      0

He must have anticipated it. He must know he has lost the Courthouse crowd and the morale is zero APD wise. So why risk sticking the foot in the mouth at an inside baseballs debate that already is a lost cause?

Poor Gordon. He’s way over his head and knows it. This was just another bad move on behalf of a political neophyte. He’s obviously not qualified for the position of Public Defender. It’s going to take more than the endorsement of Howard and a few bimbos to set him up for victory. He probably regrets he ever fell for Howard’s line of thinking.

Ha! Why am I not surprised? Maybe Bill should offer giving him the questions in advance? Unless HF can give him sound bites, he’s going to bomb the debate and he knows it. That’s the issue. So disappointing Gordo.

Weekes is just Howie’s supercilious screwdriver and he can’t even do that right. No wonder he hides in his office with the door closed. Like Howie he’s just trying to fill his beak and do as little as possible for it.

He’s hiding out alright just like he’s always done. Being a do nothing, know nothing pretender. Just like he’s hiding his white wife from the black community for fear of losing their support.
Is this really the kind of Public Defender we would want?
Pulling out of a debate he’d already committed to is just another example of why he’s not the right candidate for the job. Put him in some closet somewhere and give him a rubber stamp. He’s a follower, not a leader regardless of what he’s pretending to be not very convincingly.Finkelstein has done our community a disservice by trying to pass this guy off as something he’s not. That’s why Finkelstein is remaining so quiet and doesn’t come into the office. He knows he’s made a mistake and is not wanting to face the inevitable tune.
Weekes doesnt have the stuff it takes to unite his own office that’s a mess, let alone win a countywide race. It’s a good thing too because being a palm greaser and brown noser does not a good Public Defender make. Vote no to more of the same mediocre incompetence and backslapping phoney baloney. Finkelstein has run the office into the ground and hopes to leave it to his handpicked pimp. Return integrity to the PDs office and vote for much needed change. Gordo is not a choice to consider.

Gordon, how does it feel knowing how many people really despise you and think that you are an incompetent clown? Is it comforting to know that people within your own office and around the courthouse believe that you are a stooge and completely unqualified for the job? Does it make you feel satisfied to know that everyone (with the possible exception of Nadine and Lorena) see you as lazy, unmotivated, and perpetually absent? This is your legacy and the permanent signature that you have left at the office where you have worked for the past two decades. Congratulations. You reap what you sow… enjoy.

    3

Why would Gordon Weekes waste his time attending a debate hosted by this blog, when clearly everyone on it hates him and won’t fairly listen to him?

Why would Gordon Weekes attend a debate hosted by a blog that consistently disrespects his wife and children?

Why would Gordon Weekes attend a debate hosted by a blog that unjustifiably disparages and belittles his very existence?

The answer is he wouldn’t. And considering the insanely inappropriate and disrespectful remarks made on here about him, his wife, and his children, it is more than fair that he refuse to participate.

    1. 0

      0

The only purpose of this “debate” was to target Gordon by asking him stupid questions in order to create sound bites for the purpose of trashing him some more on this blog.

      1. 6

        0

I sincerely doubt that there are that many people judging by the attendance at his other fundraisers that are really interested in Gordon Weekes unless you’ve seen him in court and want to see the rest of the clown show.

    2. 18

      0

      Judy Stern everyone…aka GW2020

Show one post where his children were disrespected?
If anyone disrespected Gordon’s wife it is Gordon by hiding her in shame from political events.

Life in the Areana ain’t all canned questions and sound bites…sometimes you have to stand up for yourself no matter how hostile the room is.

      1. 2

        5

This whole blog has gone as far as to bring his wife and children into this. And by the way, Gordon’s wife DOES attend his events when she’s available, not that it’s any of your business.

Attending this debate is the equivalent of a Democratic Presidential Candidate attending an NRA convention to get interrogated.

Strategically, why would Gordon attend this crap? To convince a bunch of anonymous online trolls on a little courthouse blog? There’s a whole county of 2 million people to be won, no need to waste time with a bunch of disrespectful assholes.

        1. 8

          0

So Gordon refuses to attend a debate at the African American Library but he has agreed to attend the upcoming PD debate Tony Quackenbush is hosting. Why go to 1 and not the other?

        2. 16

          0

The 2 million read the Sentinel and the Herald. They’re the debate. They’re covering it. That’s precisely why he’s dodging it. He’s worried about blowing it before the 2 million. Hence the chicken out job. The logic here is disingenuous and therefore illogical.

        3. 19

          0

Sounds more like Judy baby is Gordo’s new mama.
When he realizes he’s made a big mistake, it will be too late. She’ll take his nickel before the end comes for his failure of a campaign. Bet on it. Just goes to show you he doesn’t have what it takes to be PD.
It wont be the first time the Stern Burn has been served up to a dummy candidate. Just ask around.
Weekes’ support has never been that great. He now faces a new threat. The babbling of a drooling old condo bag whose only real concern is to line her pockets.
2020 is almost on us. If Gordo cant stand on his own at a public debate without towing mama’s line, he’s already lost it.

    3. 14

      0

Ok, let’s see here. He wants to be Broward’s ELECTED public defender.

A politician anyway you look at it.

So does he think everybody loves every politician? So it looks to us that he wants to do exactly what you accuse this blog of.

He only wants the “good” sound bites that favor him while he ducks the hard questions?

Can’t wait to actually here some of these contenders.

Think we saw one by former judge Lynch the other day.

  28. 9

Thanks for your input, Nadine. Nice to see Weekes can stand up for himself after days of relentless criticism. Thanks for confirming what everyone already knows. No backbone and not a clue. Go Team Gordo!

  29. 1

    6

There’s 94 comments on this post. And hundreds in other threads. All of them trashing Gordon. I’ll bet you it’s the same handful of anonymous keyboard warriors. Soft cowards all of them.

I’ll bet we can’t get THREE people to comment on this blog with their REAL NAMES, saying why they disapprove of Gordon.

Comon, out of “hundreds” of people surely we can get THREE to grow a pair and speak up?

    1. 9

      0

Like a bunch of disgruntled pd’s are going to disclose their names to Gordon and thus the rest of the do nothing pd supervisors? You’re even more cracked than you sound !
Gordon is the one that needs to grow a pair and face the music. His campaign is petering out and now he’s whimped out on a debate that gave him the opportunity to turn things around ? He doesn’t sound like he has the leadership qualities or experience to even be running.

  30. 16

    0

I would imagine that you would also like the Trump whistle-blower to be exposed as well? The beauty of Anonymous is that you can speak the truth without fear of retaliation. Many of the comments obviously come from within the PD office and you know where that path leads. Let Gordo use his name and give some explanations! How about that for a start?

  31. 4

    1

Nice to see how interested Gordo apologists are to what a bunch of “anonymous online trolls on a little courthouse blog” are saying. Shouldn’t you be working on your overload of cases rather than reading the Jaablog? Such amateurs.

    1. 27

If he committed, then no matter what his feelings (or possible fear of the media coverage), then cancelling is a character issue.

      Plain and simple.

The Public Defender Office was once a proud institution. The middle management was not properly developed. It is now run by the dregs. Weekes and his cohorts all failed in the private sector. There are no more fine attorneys like Cuddihy’s and Finkelstein’s and Cannarozi’s for the long term future health of the agency. There are good younger ones but they look at the incompetence and backscratching at the top with Finkelstein checked out and Cuddihy overwhelmed by Parkland, and they leave. This is the tragedy, if not a travesty. This move by Weekes was to be expected. If he could not rise to the occasion, he had to flee for risk of further exposing his inadequate abilities to run a major enterprise like the one he is seeking.

  34. 42

    0

Gordon is just scared he would flop. It’s a valid concern on his part. His speaking abilities are somewhat limited and his administrative capacity is nonexistent. Thought he was going to slide in before Ruby and Former Judge Lynch entered the race. Now he knows the only chance he has is to hide behind the same lame and lazy administrative skills he’s exercised in the PDs office.
He’s got big problems facing his run for office. He knows it and it’s fairly obvious Nadine and the other airhead think the same at this point. If I were any of them I’d be dusting off my resumes and getting ready for a big transition. One where the free ride is almost over.

  35. 38

As the Public Defender you must be able to articulate your position(s). That’s true whether you are in court, in the court of public opinion, and especially during tough times and on tough cases. Being the Public Defender is not a popular job, nor an easy role. Nonetheless, IF it is the job you want then this debate is the time to show voters why you are the best candidate for the PD job. The debate is a chance to explain why criminal justice reform makes sense, financially and for society in general. It’s long overdue in Broward. Broward needs a PD that has common sense, can speak to the state, police departments, all the criminal justice players. The desire for Criminal Justice reform crosses the political spectrum at this point. It’s no longer just a one party issue.
The Opiad crisis and the failed policies of yesteryear, along with the financial bottom line have opened eyes. Broward needs a PD that can discuss this issue and all the many ills that need to be remedied.
Not attending the debate to discuss your views, experience, the need for criminal justice reform, and your personal strengths speaks volumes.

Weeke’s chances are evaporating faster than what happened to Former Judge Seidman after he pulled a no-show at a public event.LOL
Judging by his fundraising efforts, it may happen even earlier.
I smell fear. Anathema for one hoping to hold public office.
His departure from a previously confirmed appearance at this debate shows a real lack of courage.

  38. 16

    1

I hear he was annoyed because he demanded a block of tickets for his supporters to come to AA library and he was told they had to send an email, first come first served. Gordon i hear, felt that his ability to have his supporters there was being subverted and bailed

  39. 23

    0

You mean all 6 supporters ? Lol. Gordo can’t even rally the support of his own office outside of a couple of slackers like Morena and Nadine, both of which think if Gordo ever won they’d get top spots to keep sliding.
Howard in his stupidity has already left a discouraged office in the hands of even less capable hands than Keuthan and Dadowski who is laying low and trying to dodge the inevitable consequences of a big loss for Gordo.

    Rich must be proud

    1. 7

      1

Yes she really called people who are gay “those people“ so insulting And obviously homophobic.

  44. 7

    4

You watched the debate and your takeaway was Sarahnell said “they?” Are you kidding me? Kimok said he would legalize/decriminalize ALL drugs including crack, meth and heroin! Also that if he was state attorney he wouldn’t let ICE in the courthouse. You must really dislike Sarahnell if you thought the word “they” was crazy.

    1. 13

      1

What I thought was crazy was that the question was about sex workers. Why does she even bring up the LGBT community? It wasn’t even part of the question. She goes on to say they don’t want help. WTF? Does she think sex workers are gay? I just don’t understand why she even brought it up.

      1. 9

        2

They all answered the question weird. All except Sarahnell and Josh. Everyone else wanted to legalize sex work. Which is stupid as human trafficking is a huge issue. Again state attorneys don’t “legalize” anything. What about child porn etc. slippery slope. Maybe they should run for the legislature instead.

            1. 7

              1

Murphy comes off like she works at a nail salon, not a candidate for the Office of the State Attorney. Don’t think voters here in Broward are ready for her.

          1. 12

            1

One reason might have something to do with the fact that she’s a complete and total airhead with a Trumper hubby.

            1. 5

              4

I went in not having known Sarahnell well. She was by far the smartest. She knew the law the best. The majority of the other candidates were discussing legislation. NOT what a SA does. Keep calling her dumb. She is by far the most knowledgeable about the law. That doesn’t mean she will win. People are stupid and were chanting when Kimok said to legalize crack. So call SM what you like- but dumb is not valid. I liked a few other candidates too. I just think knowledge of the law is somewhat important.

              1. 10

                2

I didn’t like that she didn’t answer the questions directly.
                Question: sex workers….
Answer: LGBT – “those people….they don’t want help”
                Question: Immigrants….
                Answer: Domestic Violence (huh?)
Why bring up domestic violence when talking about Immigrants? why bring up LGBT when talking about sex workers?
She was terrible. Im sure she will do great in a Republican event though. She can talk about the LGBT, the immigrants and how she loves the 2nd amendment there all she wants. She doesn’t seem like a democrat. Why isn’t she running as a Republican…it seems their views align better with hers.

                1. 16

                  2

Sarahnell could have done better. She seemed to confuse the issues aided undoubtedly by her own lack of life experience.

Yes, the Democrats are doing such a fine job.

                  1. Question: Immigrants….
                  Answer: Domestic Violence (huh?)
                  – All FL SA’s will be using 12.80 forms under Domestic Violence for everything.

funny—that’s what bogey’s witnesses testified to about ana in her bar trial–she was sooooo Canon 2B(2) “professionally competent in the law” that she should be allowed to lie, violate the Rules and be dishonest and not be convicted and disbarred for dishonesty.

Really Rich? You look like a fool claiming you knew little about the Murphy and her campaign before last night but yet so inspired by her you had to come on Jaab in the middle of the night and write positive blog (some of which could only be known by her intimate campaign people) posts about her.?

No denial of the use of “those people” for gays…like kids, Sarahnell just learned and knows from what she heard at home

      Legalize crack and meth!

If Kimok! will agree not to prosecute wife beaters it would be the Kappy trifecta.

Vote Richard Brian Kaplan for Judge. Vote Joe Kimok! for State Attorney.

He said he knew prosecutors who called ICE when cases didn’t go their way. Gelin do a public records request for the names.

If I had to guess, pure guess with no base knowledge…MS is one of them and would be quite a blow to the murphy campaign if true

Cannady sold out all his coworkers with a lie to impress the crowd. We are watching Cannady and your co-workers are not supporting you!

If Cannady did see another ASA call ICE because they weren’t happy with the outcome of their trial then surely he reported this behavior to Mike Satz, correct? I bet not!! No integrity

Pryor: I saw some of my best friends killed due to drug and gun violence.

Cannady: my daddy was drug addict

Kimiko: crack and meth for all

I wasn’t particularly impressed with any of the candidates. The least of which was Gordon Weekes who didn’t even have the balls to show.

This picture is so stupid. It was David Cannady who first commented that the LGBTQ community feels ostracized and many of its members thus turn to sex work. Sarahnell then made mention of the same theory and said she met with those people to discuss the issue. No idea if that theory holds water-this “forum” was the first time I have heard that LGBTQ individuals turn to sex work more frequently than straight or gender-conforming people… regardless, there were many other sound bites that are worth discussion besides that. Specifically-does any of them besides Sarahnell Murphy, Josh Rydell, and Theresa Williams realize that the oath of Assistant State Attorney involves promising to enforce the laws of the state of Florida?

The ignorant general Public will play the Name Game… and it will be a scary scary day if they pick any one of half of these candidates. Maybe the question about consequences for perjury should have come immediately after Cannady claimed he worked “in the White House with Obama”…

Did someone say “name game”? I’m an expert!

A good name can get you lots of votes, even if you are insane, or a meth addict, or a wife beater, or someone who was fired from a government job for being dishonest, or a private practice failure or all of the above.

Spot on ! The general public is so dumb. Kimok wants to legalize crack, meth, and heroin and ban ICE from the courthouse. Why isn’t he running for the legislature? People die from those drugs. Pot and heroin are very different.

SomeOne should do a public records request to sao for a list of those cannady knew called ice.

Bogey’s witness sounds like a fantastic person!
We’re having a fund raising party for Teresa Williams with a game show theme to place her future staff in all the right positions at The 17th. SAO.

We would like to have Bogey, his witness and Ana attend the awards ceremony.

Why is gordon trying to withdraw into the rabbit hole unless he’s concerned with how he comes off when having to debate against Lynch and Ruby ? What other reason could there be ?
