DEBATES!

Every registered candidate for SAO and PD has agreed to participate in non-partisan debates.

The location, date, and time are being finalized.  The invitations were sent out last night to lock in commitments at the earliest stage, since scheduling with twelve busy candidates will take some planning.  The SAO and PDO debates will be held back to back after a short intermission to ensure the largest possible turnout from the legal community.

The panel of three questioners will consist of Bill Gelin from JAABLOG, the Sun Sentinel’s Rafael Olmeda, and the Miami Herald’s David Ovalle, who will also serve as moderator.

Please submit questions or topic areas you would like considered via email or in the comments section.  Panelists can be reached by clicking the names above.

Here are the confirmed participants, starting with SAO:

Sean Conway is going to slaughter the others if attacked. It will be ugly. They are all lightweights but Conway and maybe the other Irish guy used to be judge. Not that it will matter in the grand scheme. Unless there is some press coverage I doubt any candidate will do much but be fairly friendly to each other. And why not? If you’re not getting votes for a debate why prepare? And this thing needs to be promoted properly.

Good call… Miami Herald & Sun Sentinel are sending Reps to ask questions. It’ll make local media. I’d think the State Attorney office is more newsworthy bc of their huge budget and connection to the current prosecution of a certain mass shooter I won’t even name as he’s not human imo. This whole shake up of Broward came on the heels of that event I’d think the candidates would be newsworthy this time around for that reason.

Ok: I’ll give my first of a few comments on debate. I know more than anyone about this race and the candidates.

As a long-time advisor in local politics here’s my take on this: A) In PDO debate Sean Conway is going to slaughter the others if attacked. Or if he feels it’s an important debate in that it will get him votes. It will be ugly if he were to unleash on these lightweights. They are all lightweights imo except Conway and maybe Lynch as he spent a lot of time on the bench and has connections for raising money in place. And Lynch can probably debate…though not being the judge might make him vulnerable. He’s not the boss and shouldn’t be allowed to treat debate as if it were his courtroom. If that happens it’s on the moderators.

Lynch is not a memorable guy let’s put it that way. I barely remember his name & met him many times. He’s not the guy for this job unless I’m missing something. He should retire. Let someone competent who has shown experience in defense. And isn’t a career politician/government worker.

Mr. Gelin: in terms of areas to question: Those running as current PDs (how they are doing it is certainly in violation of election ethics rules & advisory opinions by the State of Florida agency responsible for enforcing this sort of thing. Agency no one has heard of so I won’t mention it’s name. Do your own homework.)

Weekes is backed by the boss. Them running is I hear but don’t know really, that factions are being formed in the PD office. I can’t imagine how factions haven’t formed. And ODs need to stick together and get along as a team. These factions and their impact on current clients should be asked. As they wanna run the place. How do they feel about teamwork in the PD? Politics within the ranks? Should Howard do something to correct this? Should Howard should advise his staff that no subordinates should donate to either campaigns as it may be coerced? These are questions I would propose to not just current ODs but all of them.

On Lynch I’d ask why he should be Public Defender with his history of sending people up the river. Ask Lynch for his take on his own sentencing practices as judge and why (if you can confirm this) he disproportionately sentenced criminal defendants. How can he defend those he do quickly sent to jail a few years ago.

I’d ask Conway why he was on the cover of the New York Times. Especially if the media is there … this will be the story. Guaranteed. Media love the NYT. Does he think what he did was appropriate? (Conway May not be able to answer as this could get him sanctioned…but he could give his views on the first anendment.) And ask the fellow candidates of their view of first amendment & the right to publicly question a judge. Would they do stand up for their clients as to risk a bar complaint? How far would they go? Can they go? What have the others done that is newsworthy in terms of fighting for their clients? Newsworthy nationally or locally.

On Green—lightweight —ask her who originally wrote the saying on her website (she attributes it to the wrong person.)

Question the current PDOs on donations from subordinates. Or friends in the PD & whether that is distracting to the office. (Of course it is)

But….Why would Conway, Lynch or the rest get ready to rumble unless there is some real press coverage? The courthouse will know about it through this blog. Unless some real camera guys and maybe a reporter with a few of em from local news

The local and maybe even national press should be invited. Why? Florida is big on everyone’s mind when it comes to voting. Florida is the only state where we Americans vote in our Public Defenders. Plus all Democrats so media will love it.

I think some high-end intellectual media like the New York Times or definitely the New Yorker. New York Times would be easy as Conway has been on the cover. (I looked at all their websites and public info. This hook is the only thing to draw the media)

So they could have headlines like (“Attorney who made the front page of the New York Times in for standing up for his criminal client and his First Amendment running for one of biggest offices in Florida County Politics.”) hint—News release by whoever is promoting to not only local but national news.

I’ve been in politics a long, long time. I was one of Alan S early advisors behind the scenes. In my opinion Conway’s a fighter for justice like Alan was. And right for the job like Alan was. Even if I’ve met Conway a handful of times and seen him in court. Insiders know Alan was effective & cared for the defendants. Demanded they come first. The other candidates are 1:lightweights; 2:Demonstated they don’t care for the clients; 3: need a job.

I’ll give you the SAO winner and political advice on my next post. Any comments are welcome.

Let’s hope FAHNESTOCK IS PUSHED OUT OF FAMILY. HER RULINGS PUT CHILDREN IN DANGER AND IN HARMS WAY. WE NEED COMPETENT JUDGES IN FAMILY WHO WILL ALWAYS DO WHATS BEST FOR THE CHILDREN. WE ALL KNOW FAHNESTOCK DOES NOT DO WHAT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD. NOT TO MENTION HER TAKING AWAY FOOD OUT OF CHILDRENS MOUTHS BY ORDERING MOTHERS WHO ARE INDIGENT TO PAY UNFAIR CONTEMPT FEES. SHE ALLOWS ATTORNEYS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PROSE LITIGANTS. PROTECT OUR CHILDREN AND GET RID OF FAHNESTOCK!!!!!!!!!!

Question to SAO: How important is it to have private experience. Running a budget is a big part of the job. Huge part. How to run a place never seen the books?

Best Question-what do they think of Brenda’s qualifications? This is more a litmus rest.

Because she knows she’s going to win. Hey morons look outside of the courthouse. Women vote for women and Murphy is the worst politician that ever happened. Williams has been working since 2015 and she has the entire Democratic Party.

          1. 27

            0

Murphy is Satz’ idea, but its too little too late and the wrong candidate. Bad idea to associate with the Stern Burn because she’s been fried for years, a real has been on the political scene. Murphy does her little standup routine at these functions and then sits by herself in a corner and nobody talks to her.
Nobody is going to elect a Stepford Wife look-a-like in Broward Politics with a Trump Hubby.
Murphy might just slide by at a PTA meeting or Parents Night Out if she brings a casserole, but she’s a flop on the political platform relying on a outdated old bag she thinks will net the votes for her. She’s done already and doesn’t even know it.

    Bill ask him this…

Gordon, how does it feel being a PD for 20 years and living in the community and Harold Pryor who has barely lived here a few years raised more $ in his first month or campaigning than you did in two years?

      1. 33

        0

not true–all assignments of the PD have a favor to ask. when will you actually do your jobs and zealously and fully represent your clients?

        1. 2

          0

          and part of the favor is they follow the Bar rules 4-4.3(a) NOT: (1) make a false statement of fact or law to a tribunal or FAIL TO CORRECT a false statement of material fact or LAW previously made to the tribunal by the lawyer; (2) fail to disclose a material fact to a tribunal when disclosure is necessary to avoid assisting a criminal or fraudulent act by the client; (3) FAIL TO DISCLOSE to the tribunal legal authority in the controlling jurisdiction known to the lawyer to be directly adverse to the position of the client and not disclosed by opposing counsel; or (4) offer evidence that the lawyer knows to be false. A lawyer may not offer testimony that the lawyer knows to be false in the form of a narrative…. If a lawyer, the lawyer’s client, or a witness called by the lawyer has offered material evidence and the lawyer comes to know of its falsity, TAKE reasonable remedial measures including, if necessary, disclosure to the tribunal…REFUSE to offer evidence that the lawyer reasonably believes is false. 4-3.4 (a) unlawfully OBSTRUCT another party’s access to evidence or otherwise unlawfully alter, destroy, or conceal a document or other material that the lawyer knows or reasonably should know is relevant to a pending or a reasonably foreseeable proceeding; nor counsel or assist another person to do any such act;
          (b) FABRICATE EVIDENCE, counsel or assist a witness to testify falsely, or offer an inducement to a witness, for, attending, or testifying at proceedings; (c) knowingly DISOBEY an obligation under the rules of a tribunal; (d) in pretrial procedure, …intentionally FAIL TO COMPLY with a legally proper discovery request by an opposing party; (e) in trial, STATE a personal opinion about the credibility of a witness unless the statement is authorized by current rule or case law, ALLUDE to any matter that the lawyer does not reasonably believe is relevant or that WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED by admissible evidence, ASSERT PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE of facts in issue… state a PERSONAL OPINION as to the justness of a cause… or the GUILT of an accused;

Gordon isn’t even liked in the PD
What males you thinks he’s going to raise money
Most of the PDs don’t make squat
Except the supervisors who don’t handle a caseload and also do squat

  3. 26

Clear a path to the door, because you’re going to see Gordo running for it. You can list his legal accomplishments on a palm card. A palm card he’s seeing shrink by the day.

Alu and Pryor are the only candidates that aren’t pimps looking to keep the oinkers milking at the trough …
Sarahnell’s purpose is to do just that and Weeks is just Finkelstein’s sad idea of a joke.
Don’t look for much independence among this group.

  5. 3

    0

someone should ask Alu if she is a Trump supporter- and that is why she isn’t running as a democrat because she isn’t one anymore.

      1. 7

        0

She may still be a registered democrat- but someone should ask her if she is a Trump supporter. I wonder if she will be upfront about that or try to hide it like Murphy.

    1. 13

      0

Hope she puts her in the same basket as the rest of the double dipping oinkers …
That question should be pounded home in the debate of all the candidates for SA.
Then Weekes should be grilled about what he’s been doing for the past twenty years in the PD besides getting paid too much while the rest of us PDs are doing all the work.

Big night for Gordon. He has to come out hard and fast on Lynch. Similar to Kamala and Booker going after Biden, thanks for your service but step aside for a new generation of leadership. Things have been easy for Lynch, hiding out at his own fundraisers and not having to explain why an esteemed newspaper characterized him as sentencing blacks harsher than whites. Gordon needs to pack that room with blacks, be aggressive and take back the momentum in this race.

      1. 42

        0

Gordon lacks the fortitude. He’s been sliding for too long under the Fink like the rest of the supervisors. Lynch will tie him in knots with no sweat and Gordon will buckle under the weight of real experience.
We will see if the Fink has the balls to show up but I doubt it. He’s already guessed the outcome. Its called payback of years of Fink Hype.
The PD office just doesn’t have the spunk like it did under Schreiber to rally any support anymore due to the policies of the Fink and the smalltime backstabbing of Keuthan and Dadowski.

It’s make or break time for Weekes. I have a feeling he’s gonna snap like a dry twig. He sure hasn’t raised much and from what I’ve seen he comes off like a consummate dummy.

Same for Murph. Needs to explain who she is. Not a clone for the old regime. Will implement popular reforms without giving away the farm and not stack her administration with the same yes people currently holding the place back somewhere circa 1985.

      Really, this has likes? Sheep!

Check out that website. That is not a journalist in the slightest sense of the word. The site is just to drive traffic to her business.

      FROM THAT WEBSITE:

Disclaimer: “As a journalist, I report what significant newsmakers are claiming. I do not have the resources or time to fully investigate all claims. Stories and people interviewed are selected based on relevance, listener requests, and by suggestions of those I highly respect. It is the responsibility of each viewer to evaluate the facts presented and then research each story further and come to their own conclusions.”

Guess those 6 likes like BS.

P.S. The story is actually for real though. We are following the part where BSO had local sheriffs show up in another state at their request Seems just to harass someone, no law broken allegedly.

Harold Pryor, why are you the best candidate to run the SAO when you couldn’t even fulfill your 3-year commitment as an ASA?

    1. 13

      1

Why would anyone fulfill a contract with an office that pounds the poor and the mentally ill?

I understand taking the job and not knowing any better but why would anyone stick around?

    2. 19

      1

That’s good enough reason for Pryor to get my vote right there!
He’s not one of the tribe of double dipping Satz butt smoochers that have helped make Broward County one of the most corrupt places this side of Nicaragua!

      1. 26

        1

Pryor carried Satz’ water and drank it down like all of the other black faces Mike Satz put on the front row to make it look like satz wasn’t racist. He was out campaigning for satz in 2016. Now he is a puppet for dale Holness who will soon run this county. Ask Chris smith how he treats his enemies.

Its a free for all in 2020, but judging from the candidates running in all the races, its more like a carnival of the least likely bunch of freeloaders than it is to a race to ever bring any improvement to a circuit in desperate need of change.

WILLIAMS WHIPES THE FLOOR WITH ALL OF THEM
SHE ALMOST BEAT THE OLD HEN LAST TIME
NOW SHE COMES BACK TO FINISH THE JOB

  10. 28

    1

The black lawyers who put their name behind Harold Pryor telling everybody that he is ready to be at the state attorney should be flat out ashamed of themselves. You are completely irresponsible when you tell people to vote for someone just because they are black. This is the state attorneys office for god sake’s and he’s never even tried a murder case.

      1. 8

        6

Bull- Josh Rydell and Teresa Williams are both established criminal lawyers who have tried 100s of cases. Williams was a homicide prosecutor in MIAMI. Josh Rydell would kick Jim Lewis’ ass all over the courtroom and I guarantee he has tried murders.

          1. 21

            0

Joe Kimok could not even make it in private practice. He was out 6 months failed miserably and ran back to the government tit. How is he going to run the State Attorneys Office when he can’t even make a solo law practice successful. How do you look at him and even put him in the same boat at Rydell Lewis and Williams? All successful defense lawyers. Lewis and Williams both have experience as prosecutors for over a decade. Kimok needs to get out.

        1. 10

          2

          You have to be joking….

Williams was referred by the 4th DCA to the Bar, in part, for ineffective assistance of counsel… see Rodney Squire. She has been foreclosed or evicted from every office she’s had. And Rydell…. please! He’s a glorified contract conflict counsel,
barely a misdemeanor defense attorney who runs a one man “law firm” and has to share a secretary. He needs to supplement his salary by doing condo law for step daddy Bogen!

          1. 14

            0

And Shatz, first son of Baltimore was what when he came down here and schmoozed the condo creeps ? Bogenpoop ran and lost. You play the hand you’re given and find out chance plays a bigger role with these doped up gheezers out west than anything else. Certainly more than any ability.
Look who we’ve got for Clerk of Courts in this clownhouse if you want an example . LOL

        2. 8

          0

Rydell… just how would you supervise a veteran prosecutor?? You would only hope to be a douchebag figurehead. This county has too many of them!

        3. 4

          0

why would a loser defense atty like Teresa want to be the head prosecutor? trial experience participation is absolutely no indication of quality. why would lawyers actually put out such misleading credentials without asking what her record in those “trials” as a defense attorney is? Did she lose or sell out enough clients enough that she can be relied upon to cheat in prosecuting like the rest of shitz scum that infests the bowwow sao had been trained to do?

    1. 6

      0

“Never even tried a murder case.”

LOL the guy was a felony SECOND when he left the SAO. He probably hasn’t even done DISCOVERY on a trafficking, burg/batt, etc.

      1. 7

        1

I had a grand theft with Harold. I yelled at him on the hallway and he gave away the farm. Afraid of his own shadow. Nice guy but no leader. How have you met him and think otherwise? Smh at black leaders who are pushing him. It’s sad that they don’t really give a damn about what happens to people.

    1. 9

Charlie would be proud of you. You sure kissed butt long and hard enough within the corrupt and rotten Broward Judicial set. At least you attained it without dirt on your hands. Well, maybe a little smudge around the edges.

  11. 46

    6

Williams wins in a land slide. The only person in the race with the name recognition and her vagina.
Ruby Greene surprises them all. She’s going to pull it out the same way Williams did in 2016. She’s from one end of this county to the other and everyone loves her

    1. 31

      6

I have no doubt that Teresa will cream Sarahnell. She’s smarter, faster on her feet and not part of the Satz cronies that can’t think outside the box.
She’d also do a better job, She’s gonna bitch slap the competition.

      1. 9

        -2

She can’t pay her rent and there’s no way she loaned herself $50,000. She’s her own treasurer and only needs to mark that on a form at the end of the month, no one checks her bank statement for her campaign account.

      1. 14

        0

But it ain’t gonna be Elizabeth Warren. Broward Demos maybe ready for a female State Attorney, but its not ready for a female President of the US.

  12. 4

    6

Congratulations to Raag Singhall who will do an amazing job as a federal judge. It’s great that he finally got the PBA to leave him alone so that he can attain this well-deserved position

      1. 11

        0

that’s because even sucking shahood’s dick on the 4th with shatz and ratz and butterwurst doing triple duty from behind still didn’t work to get you there, despite the collusion and lies because you found out to be a liability and protection by the JQC. Every one of your other cases should have been re-opened to show just how deep the feces fills.

Daddy – I just took over the Democratic Black Caucus and my first order of business was to take all of my friends to ORLANDO for a conference. Why is everyone upset that I spent $5000 of the caucus’ money and didn’t get a vote from my membership? Can you make sure that Harold Pryor wins so that I don’t go to jail. By the way, I don’t like billy joe bill bob so will you please get Harold to prosecute him. Thank you daddy. Soon you will run me for something and we can rename this Holness County.

Sean Conway is an incredible lawyer who had the guts to stand up against Cheryl Aleman. Sean Conway will stand up for the people

    1. 13

      -7

Sean is a killer. Anyone in a real debate with him will be destroyed. I’ve seen him in trial. He’s been thrown out of two different judge’s courtrooms permanently when a public defender. Has the right disposition to be the elected Public Defender. Similar in ways to Alan Schreiber in that he will put client first. The others I don’t know. BTW If he’s disrespected he’ll probably send that person home early.

      1. 22

        0

I’ll vote for Conway just because he had the courage to call a spade a spade in an atmosphere of Broward Judicial azz sucking that needed to be broken up and sent across the River Styx with or without a coin for the ferryman.

          1. 2

            5

Ah, the Conway hater – so sensitive whenever Sean gets publicity.

Face it, Conway said it like it is, and signed his name to it – he Hit it, and Quit it.
You seem like a pussy always upset about his publicity – and so transparently envious.

                1. 2

                  2

The whole point was Conway signing his name to a controversial blog post..that was all it was about & why it made the front page of the NY Times.

There was nothing to ‘cave’ to (?) .the deed was done.

Keep hating but it will only eat you up inside.

                    2

well didn’t that bring out the BULLSHIT and bullshitters. The truth was his complete defense to any “impugning.” Conway had the facts and the proof, but he stuffed it back down his pants and chickened out to back the bar off. That is his true measure–Coward Conway, just like Coward Howard, he blocked the door to positive change after he opened it.

                    1. 3

                      2

                      The matter was settled.

Conway got away with exposing the judge and signed his name to it (something you would NEVER do as a pussy)

Funny how you like to pretend there was some mythical legal battle Conway was supposed to invent. You’re just some pig nosed, Family Guy looking hater taking years off your life in your crusades against those you envy.

I heard about joshs poll. Has anyone actually seen it? how come there are no expenditures on joshs account for the people who did this poll? Funny how josh is able to change the tide of every other race in the nation in that he is leading against 2 women who have 10 more years of experience and he has never been a prosecutor.

You tout experience when all these bimbos have really managed to do is brown nose their way into keeping their do next to nothing jobs!
You either got the appropriate skills or you’re a grunt for life in a gov cubicle. Its no great rocket science.
And polls are for pussies. Its a roll of the dice and a filing fee for the privilege you putz.

Lying shows desperation! There are no polls!! He has no budget expenditures. Josh’s poll is in his hand… along with his experience. How did the polls work for Hillary?? Josh’s poll was taken on Bogen’s doorstep. When push comes to shove this will all shake out, if I were him, I’d be scared. But then again, he always has his gummy bear politico career as a back up.

I was told there are two polls and now he is only worried about Harold. He’s full of crap. Sarahnell Murphy will have the financial backing to blow his doors off. Nothing special about Josh outside of the courthouse. He will never beat a woman.

    Sarahnell –
How is Judy doing? Has she asked you to pull strings for her yet? Probably not because she hasn’t turned on you yet. Judy Judy Judy.

Poor Sarahnell, she looks like she’s developing lockjaw this early in the game. Wait until depression and dissolution sets in.

I’ve placed bigger bets in Vegas on one hand than these smalltime putzes have to scrape up for their filing fees. They’re all looking for an increase in income. Let’s face it: Who the hell would want to supervise a bunch of deadbeat putzes who have never known since law school what its like to make a buck like the ones in the State Attorney’s Office ?

Much to come, but I can’t help think there’s a few wrinkles that are going to be coming forward. Leaning towards Alu, but things could change if Williams comes on strong. Not too impressed with Murphy unless things change.

It would be nice to have ONE SINGLE WOMAN- there are women who work and follow the court house. There are female reporters too? JUST ONE?

      2. 7

        6

There are plenty of women who could be a part of this panel. Sasha Shulman (former homicide prosecutor and current defense attorney), Tonya Alanez (local reporter), any current female defense attorney, the president of the Broward Women’s Lawyers, any of the retired judges? I mean come on! just find ONE WOMAN to be on this panel!!!

What do you think the moderators are going to give the answers to the men? These are the reporters who follow the courthouse who know the issues. Don’t make issues where there aren’t any.

There are plenty of women who know the issues. Knowing the issues doesn’t require a penis. Why cant there be ONE SINGLE woman? what scares you so much about that?

So add a black moderator a female moderator and make sure there’s one idiot to soft ball questions to Sarahnell when she can’t answer why voting for her isn’t the same as a vote for Satz.

    BSO OUT OF CONTROL?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAo-UMB5MkI
The wife of a Weston, Florida city commissioner filed a police report after a Florida man posted a meme to a Facebook group.

Peter Van Antwerpen, a resident of Weston, was upset that some in the people in the Weston government joined a lawsuit to eliminate preemption law in Florida.

Preemption is the idea that state law trumps local laws. This idea prevents counties such as Broward County from passing local gun ban laws and mandatory gun buybacks. Some residents are concerned if the courts remove the preemption clause that their county will adopt an “assault weapons ban.”

Van Antwerpen posted a meme of Charleston Heston holding up a rifle with the caption “from my cold dead hands.” The picture and quote originate from the 2000 NRA convention where Heston gave an impassioned speech about gun rights.

In the social media post by Van Antwerpen a few anti-gun politicians were named. Van Antwerpen wondered if the gun banning politicians were going to lead the confiscation effort in person. Nowhere in his post were any threats issued.

    Van Antwerpen wrote:

    “Enufsaid…..let them come!”

“Since you are on the lawsuit Peggy Brown, Dan Stermer and Byron Jaffe I hope you are the ones to come confiscate my weapons.”

Van Antwerpen is also a well-known philanthropist in the community. He is involved in local politics fighting against liberal corruption. The semi-retired executive is a strong believer in the second amendment and the Constitution.

Beth Jaffe, who is the wife of city commissioner Bryon Jaffe, felt that the meme was threatening her life. Ms. Jaffe contacted the district office of the Broward County Sheriff’s Department and asked for them to investigate Van Antwerpen.

Four members from the newly formed “Threat Assessment Unit” showed up banging on Van Antwerpen’s door. The deputies entered the house with full tactical gear. The police did not have any warrants.

Van Antwerpen, in a bath towel, greeted the members of the unit. The investigator’s started to question Van Antwerpen about the social media post. He is a major supporter of law enforcement, so he chose to answer their questions.

Van Antwerpen explained the meme and asked the lead investigator if the meme broke any laws. The Sheriff’s Deputy admitted that it did not break any laws. The investigator concluded that Van Antwerpen was not a danger to anyone. He gave Van Antwerpen the police report number.

“I post a comment,” Van Antwerpen told AmmoLand. “It was one of many. It wasn’t even the worst. It just had a meme attached to it.”

Van Antwerpen filed to get the police report, but it took the Broward County Sheriff’s Department three weeks to supply the police report. He did not get a reason for the delay, and AmmoLand’s calls and emails to the Broward County Sheriff’s Department were not returned.

Van Antwerpen noticed that Beth Jaffe took out the complaint against his post. Van Antwerpen’s wife and Jaffe have run-ins in the past. Jaffe and Van Antwerpen are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Antwerpen took to Facebook to highlight what he sees as a personal vendetta against his family.

“A city commission members wife, Beth Jaffe, who has a well known antipathy for my wife, myself and my family, sent an email to the threat assessment division of Broward Sheriffs Office and over a week later BSO deputies in full tactical gear showed up at our house to interrogate us on this post,” Van Antwerpen wrote on Facebook.

Another person Jaffe named in the complaint is Janet Klomburg. Klomburg posted in the comments, “I’m with ya brother!”

Klomburg told AmmoLand that she thinks Beth Jaffe abused her power. She said that Jaffe has a history of abusing her husband’s authority and using dirty tricks against her political adversaries.

Klomburg, who is a small business owner, was looking into claims of voter suppression of conservatives in Broward county. This investigation put Klomburg in Jaffe’s crosshairs.

“What they did was ruined my business in Weston,” Klomburg told AmmoLand. “She destroyed my business. She destroyed my name. She called me a white supremacist, a bigot, and a racist. “

According to Klomburg shortly after Jaffe’s accusations, she started to receive death threats by phone. AmmoLand was able to verify that Klomburg reported death threats. The police were not able to arrest a suspect in the case.

Klomburg and Van Antwerpen both explained to AmmoLand that people in the community are afraid of Jaffe’s wrath. I reached out to several members of the community through Facebook, and all expressed similar thoughts about Jaffe, and said that they did not want to become targets.

One anonymous Democrat stated that she equates what Jaffe did to SWATTING. SWATTING is the practice of pretending to be someone else and calling in a threat in the hopes that a SWAT team responds to the target’s house.

On December 28, 2017, Andrew Finch was shot and killed by police in his home during a SWATTING incident. Prosecutors charged Tyler Raj Barriss with organizing the event he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

AmmoLand reached out to Beth Jaffe, Bryon Jaffe, and the Broward County Sheriff’s Department. None have returned our calls or emails at the time of publishing.
