As rumored in the comments section of JAABLOG, Liz Scherer joins the long list of Broward judges with JQC problems. The cause: her behavior during the Parkland case.
The recommendation is for a public reprimand.
Scherer, whose resignation becomes official June 30th, has already left the building, with senior judge Lisa Porter being paid to cover her docket until the end of the month.
Will the Supreme Court accept the stipulated agreement between Scherer and the JQC? Or will they up the penalty to send the strongest possible message to Florida’s judiciary handling the most serious cases? Will the Florida Bar get involved? Or will the entire matter be dismissed due to Scherer’s impending resignation?

All the attempts by Tuter to control the narrative have failed and he is exposed for what he actually is: The Scherer Mole that dug a little too deep and got snatched. It’s true. In Tuter’s attempts to elevate Liz Scherer to new heights, he’s played the biggest single part in bringing her to her career demise.
Tuter worked for Liz Scherer’s dad until he was sloughed off to pull his own weight. He ran for judge failing miserably, coming in last and going down in defeat.
To skin that cat a different way, he used his old boss’ influence to skim his way thru the JNC to get appointed a judge and then using the same tactics squirmed his way into becoming chief judge of a circuit notorious for nepotism, corruption and backroom dealing. Not too different from how Liz made her way to the bench.
Then in an effort to elevate Liz to new heights of recognition and in payback allowed Liz to try a case that would have been challenging to even a veteran tried and tested judge, ignoring the possible and most probable consequences.
Tuter is the real reason for Liz Scherer’s present predicament. He runs this judicial circuit in the same greasy political fashion grabbing any attention he can and honoring himself at every turn, like the preposterous naming of a courtroom after himself and the display of a ridiculous portrait of what can only be described as a second rate administrator with deep-seeded insecurities and an unquenchable desire for attention.
He is an unfortunate clown playing to an audience he thinks admires him and is obviously self absorbed to the extent he would be willing to sacrifice the very judge he planned to exalt to new notoriety. He sure accomplished that. Just just not in the way he had hoped.
The sooner Tuter is no longer chief judge, the better for Broward Citizens and I wont hesitate but to say the other judges of this circuit. He remains an incompetent embarrassment.
The ‘circle the wagons’ mentality has always been the downfall of 17. It does damage to everyone instead of helping anyone. Of course it would take a real leader in the Chief chair to understand that. There’s never been such a thing here since Miette. Until that happens the really good jurists (which is most of them) will continue to be grouped in with the outragepus outliers who cause all the grief and ‘blog fodder.’

The JNC can’t open her position up until her “retirement” is official. Meaning – unless Chief moves a Judge over on July 1 the taxpayers will be soaked paying a Sr for the entire time it takes to appoint a new Judge for her spot. The extra 30 days of time off Scherer “found” is outrageous given her JQC issues. It’s compounded now by the extra cost to taxpayers. Judge Tuter should either shut her division down and redistribute it to the other Judges who hardly work anyway (Scherer was rarely here herself so what’s the difference if there’s another ghost division) or assign a Judge to that division full time immediately and stop wasting money on a Sr for the next few months of JNC time.

By not skipping out early habitually or blowing off work entirely when so many others are impacted. By not constantly burdening one’s colleagues with coverage or your own trial cases. Scherer can now send out as many friend requests as she wants. She will always be remembered for egotism and unadulterated selfishness and entitlement, bastardizing a job she was never qualified for in the first place, proven by her own utter lack of respect for herself, the system, and all those that were compelled to sit through her 10 year childish tantrum. She got to jump the line because of her father, and she squandered the opportunity to prove she could stand on her own by refusing to buckle down and becoming a respected person who deserved an important position in society by working diligently and thoughtfully every single day, like anyone else.
