A deserved honor for Barry! He’s kept the BACDL in his heart all these years and been it’s pulse. Very good choice!

What’s he been suffering from all these years, motivational arrhythmia ???
BACDL has disintegrated into a loose organization of worthless values and absent goals not to mention mindless minions of mediocrity. It represents nothing.

Predictable and laughable at the same time ! Butin’s been greasing it for a long time. Suppose he deserves something for his efforts.

Barry Butin has been a zealous advocate for his clients for many years. He has worked hard and fought hard to protect his clients rights and to help assure that the system that is stacked against them will be taken to task. He deserves this award probably more than many who received it before him. He is more than just a name and a face. He is a true criminal defense attorney which is something to be much more proud of than those that bail out early or settle for being a mere judge.

    NO BIG DEAL
NOBODY IS EVER GOING TO MISTAKE BUTIN FOR A TRIAL ANIMAL IN ANY SENSE OF THE WORD

Barry is a genuinely nice guy who has worked hard, for years, to support civil rights. He has done a lot of pro bono work for both the NAACP and the ACLU. I am surprised at those folks who take the time to badmouth Barry. Even if what they are saying is something that they really believe, (though not necessarily true), it says a lot about someone. Perhaps they just don’t know any better. Try kindness for a change.

Barry is an alright guy but has done nothing to really distinguish himself over the years; taken no big cases, won no big cases, just survived by picking up crumbs and schmoozing who he thinks could help keep him afloat.
Don’t think that’s enough to warrant any award that means anything, but in the 17th where kissing azz has been made an art form and patting yourself on the back is a staple of doing business, i guess its some kind of accomplishment to those that lack a firm understanding of their own self worth and need the recognition.
It seems like bacdl likes to award old burnouts at the end of their careers for having merely been able to stay the course more than those that may have rocked the boat and truly made a difference for the right reasons.
Unfortunately, not to take anything away from the guy, but Barry Butin identifies more with the former than the latter.

What a pitiful/unenviable life you must be enduring that you would spend that much time drafting a comment basically just to try and embarrass a human as good and generous as Barry. Fortunately, Barry’s self-worth, unlike yours, has been just fine for decades and he will [somehow, someway] overcome your vile efforts to diminish his many accomplishments.

What accomplishments ? Unless you count schmoozing anybody that can do something for him as an accomplishment.

YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD
BACDL REMAINS INEFFECTIVE AND HAS NEVER STOOD FOR ANYTHING
IT HAS BEEN LONG SINCE BEEN INCORPORATED INTO THE SATZ MACHINE AND SERVES AS A STRONG REMINDER THAT IN THE ABSENCE OF LEADERSHIP PETTY AWARDS MUST SUFFICE REPLACING SOLID ACHIEVEMENT

Butin is the best bacdl could come up with ? It’s pathetic. No Justice Warriors in this bunch.

Playing the devil’s slot machine produces no winners.

These pussies have been massaging the prostates of Broward judges for so long they don’t know how to do anything else.

Judge Andrew Siegel should have been given the recognition because he had the good sense to decline the sycophantic nomination.

Barry got it for being a true butthead and for kissing butt more than anyone I know of.
It’s comical that we actually gave it to the right guy this time.

The only thing Butin has done is to grease bacdl. Has the poor guy ever won a trial or even taken anything to trial ?
It’s like receiving a roll of toilet paper as a consolation prize.

It doesn’t matter. The award Gulkin achievement isn’t for people that expose jurists like Bryson or Diaz or Gardiner. It’s for being in the club a long time.
