    Raag has wanted to get out of Broward as soon as he possibly could. Who wouldn’t with the “ Name Game” playing out in Judicial Campaigns in full swing in this slop pit.
    I’m glad he’s gotten out before some opportunist popped him out. He’s brown nosed every political greaser who sits on the bench in Broward to do it, so it’s finally paid off. Regardless of the endless brown nosing, he makes a better judge than most of the losers who sit as judges here in Broward. Congratulations Raag for being able to exit the Clownhouse with your integrity intact !

    Broward Judiciary is typically a dead end job for bureaucrats or low paid lawyers looking for a steady paycheck. Good for Judge Singhal! He distinguished himself in private practice and on the bench. Because of his dedication to the law and a strong work ethic he has a career to be proud of.

    Why wouldn’t he honor Judge Merrigan’s service with a promotion to Civil if Judge Merrigan is interested? The politics around the Court is probably a factor.

    Gustavo Martinez is one of the most respected and talented attorneys at our office (public defender’s office). He’s known for working extremely hard deep into the night, caring for his clients, and providing excellent representation. He’s been with our office for several years and he has never lost a jury trial. He obtains great results for his clients, and always does everything he can to ensure that justice is equally available to all. He’s also a very kind and positive person.

    Anybody who fights for justice as hard as he does is bound to be disliked by the other side. It’s obvious that perhaps some prosecutor with time on his or her hands decided to dig up an old video from a couple months ago and make some still shots and poems. That’s fine. Anybody without integrity can be a keyboard warrior and anonymously trash another human being. But it doesn’t diminish the fact that Mr. Martinez continues to be an excellent attorney who not only wins for his clients, but also strives with passion to help others.

      To reiterate what we said on another thread, the date is accurate, recent. Someone made a comment about it on our YouTube channel and we recklessly posted it here without thinking about the maturity level of some here, and yes, that includes us in this case.

      Again Mr. Martinez we apologize and are very sorry for the grief you are getting over this nonsense.

    Who here hasn’t looked to see what gold he has dug from the nasal cavity or peeped in the bowl with relief to assess the size of a jettisoned brown bomb? Is it not human nature? Is it not psychologically and physically satisfying to see with one’s own eyes that the body is now free of large and cumbersome objects that have previously weighed it down? Show me someone who says he doesn’t look, and I will show you a liar. This man is by all accounts a fine attorney and the most human of humans. Applaud him for the dedication to not call a court recess for attending to his personal needs which would have delayed the release of many and cost more in salaries for staff. Well done and huzzah for the selfless act and cameras be damned as a testament to his courage.

    I am charged with Armed Burglary and some other stuff. Only two people got killed. They were like 80 yrs old but I haven’t seen any Discovery but that’s what I heard on the news.

    I’ve worked with Gus for the past couple of years. When I was first hired he was already a more experienced felony attorney. Over time Gus has helped me and several others who were hired with just about anything we needed: advice, motion writing, plea negotiation, and of course trial prep. Anytime i needed something he welcomed me into his office and helped out. Myself and many others are very grateful for all that he does to help younger attorneys. He’s kind and always willing to help.

    I can truly say the guy is a creative genius of sorts. He always sees an intelligent solution to problems that others would not. He helped me figure out how to defend some cases that i couldn’t even begin to tackle on my own. He spots legal issues that others cant.

    Seems like those outside our office don’t like him. And that’s good. He wouldn’t be the badass lawyer that he is for his clients if he didn’t create havoc the way he does. Others can post whatever they want but the Public Defender’s Office will always have his back because he’s a great co-worker and friend to everyone here.

      Many of us have had the “unfortunate” experience, and i say that jokingly lol, of having to go up against Gus on a case or motion. He’s a die hard advocate and relentless fighter its exhausting to deal with him. BUT he’s always respectful, professional, and very nice! Gus knows how to strike a balance between fighting hard and treating opposing counsel with dignity.

      While its true that a good chunk of our office hates his guts, its usually because people are lazy and dont want to deal with a pd that actually fights them all out on cases. Most people at the State dont like to deal with Gus but actually respect him a lot as a lawyer.

    Hopefully when Lynch takes over and Finkelstein is gone, he will address the huge salary disparity as well as the case assignment disparities that exit between those of us that try cases and supervisors who do next to nothing but cause problems for the rest of us. The office is in shambles and needs re-organization from the top down. That’s the reason for the low morale and dissatisfaction within the office.
    Gordon Weekes if he became PD would only make it worse.
