 Allana Robinson Woods

A 17th Circuit HR representative confirmed today the appointment of Allana Robinson Woods to replace retiring family court GM Barbara Beilly on November 1st.  Rudy Morel, longtime drug and mental health court attorney for the PDO, and an MD, is already up and running in replacement for Phil Schlissel, who was the previous GM over drug and mental health court matters.  Both positions were reportedly filled after a July cutoff for applications, and recommendations to Jack Tuter by an interviewing committee.

Unfortunately, the 17th Circuit’s reputation for nepotism isn’t going to be helped by the addition of Robinson Woods, confirmed by the same HR representative mentioned above as the daughter of former judge Mary Robinson, and former GM and current judge Michael Robinson.  A quick web search turns up little on Allana, so it’s not known at this time if she has a background in family law.  In the meantime, we’re preparing a public records request for the names of all of the applicants and the applications for both of the GM positions, and will report back shortly if concerns over nepotism should be raised in this case.

        Her rulings definitely put children in danger. She ruled for a parent who was known to be verbally and physically abusive to the children to have unsupervised visitation with the children even when evidence of a recording was provided in court. If that wasnt bad enough she ruled 50/50 for the children who were taken care of by the mother alone since birth, if being ripped no nnmń of the only parents hands that have taken care of u your whole life to be placed half the time to a complete stranger isnt detrimental to a child I dont know what is.

        Doesn’t add up. That article says “Renee” and she was 22 in 2012. Alanna graduated UF law in 2008. So if she graduated at 25 (give or take) in 2008, she wouldn’t be 22 in 2012. Does she have a younger sister?

    Those assholes should be ashamed (unless few people wanted that awful family law job that only pays 80k a year). It’s possible only a handful of people applied for such a sucky deal – a Robinson would certainly be game for something that pays only 80k

      The money is not the issue.

      There are many, many dedicated career public servant attorneys.

      It always galls me no end when the term service is applied only to elected officials or Judges. The vast majority of lawyers doing government work for little pay are much more in service than the patronage pimping electeds serving their egos (more often than not).

      The Truth is, government lawyers who don’t leave early for private practice are just as important to our safety and well being as police or fire workers. To them, a General Master or Judgeship is a coveted validation for their hard work and service. To see one politically linked up scion of some family or another receiving all the prestigious positions, after the lawyer has given decades of themselves to the cause of actual service, is a disgusting and disgraceful spit in the face. Frankly, it is those making the hiring decision, JNC or Chief Judge, that are most to blame.

      Seeing the applications is most important now. I will be waiting. The calls to run a candidate against the Chief Judge should be heeded however no matter. Change is good.

    I know Allana from way back in the day. Oh and it’s not pronounced how it’s spelled. She’ll go to great lengths to let you know it’s aLAYna. She doesn’t just have a drinking a problem. She also had a pretty serious powder habit from what I remember. Oh and she doesn’t have family experience.
