KEEP ‘EM COMING!

*UPDATE*The DBR picks up the Anidjar & Levine story from JAABLOG

The allegations are unequivocally false, brought by two former employees who are trying to create a name for themselves by baselessly attacking others, who have achieved great success in the areas they practice,” (defense attorney) Slusher said via email. “This lawsuit is a trivial attempt of these former employees to use the court system to leverage the success and stellar reputation that their former employer has spent over 15 years building. We are confident our clients will be vindicated in this matter.

NYT – When Court Moves Online, Do Dress Codes Still Matter?

JAABLOG’s Dennis Bailey story made The New York Times today, something we can’t remember happening since JAABLOG got the front page back in 2014.

There’s no credit of course, although it would have been nice of Dennis or Jack Tuter to thank us for garnering so much badly needed good publicity for the 17th Circuit. But that’s probably expecting too much as well.

The real irony here has to do with the Florida Bar. The link in the NYT article to the “social media” that supposedly helped spread the story goes to the Bar’s Facebook post from yesterday! While the Bar is still “investigatingJAABLOG in part for supposedly serving no legitimate purpose!

Oh well. It’s all in a day’s work.

The real story in all of this, of course, is once again you.

As we’ve said so many times over the years, even if there were only a handful of people reading the blog, there will always be reporters, editors, high court judges, the JQC, and others who can make a difference among them. Your news here can (and will) go to the outside world as the Bailey story has, just like so many, many other JAABLOG stories over the years.

Thanks again for reading, and most importantly, for the tips, stories, and the constructive comments that keep the light shining …

PANDEMIC LAWSUIT!

*UPDATE* – Dennis Bailey story goes national (NY Post) and international

_________________________________________________________

Vic Demesmin and Jeremy Dover, of Demesmin & Dover PLLC, have sued their former employer Anidjar & Levine, PA.

The 75 page Complaint (with exhibits) starts with this allegation:

Utilizing the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic and the economic vulnerability of doctors and/or medical providers … Defendants have, and continue to, weaponize their current and future clients by engaging in illegal and unfair patient brokering and unfair trade competition in order to try and bankrupt Demesmin & Dover …

All the filed documents are under CACE20006299.

If you happen to be into this kind of stuff, it’s a page turner …

UPDATE

Gina Hawkins on trial – a telephonic status hearing was held this morning. Nothing much occurred. A new status conference was set for May 15th, to essentially see whether restrictions have been lifted so the trial can be reset.

Today’s docket1:30 bond and plea court.

And this from the 17th Circuit’s rarely updated Facebook page last Thursday, although we still can’t find any link to live broadcasts of either AM or PM court. Please post a comment if it is indeed live …

A MESSAGE FROM THE BROWARD JUDGES

*UPDATE* – Channel 10 picks up the story from JAABLOG …

____________________________________________________________

The following is a message written by Dennis Bailey, speaking on behalf of the Broward judiciary. Apparently, lawyers are taking liberties with the virus-necessitated Zoom hearings, with a lawyer appearing shirtless, and another one with a master bed visible in the background. There are also some procedural tips included for the brave new electronic world, and the sad news that a judge’s spouse is battling Covid-19.

The message is posted on the Weston Bar Association’s website, and was reportedly emailed to others last Thursday with the “Please take note” header:

Please take note of the 5th paragraph in case you happen to have, as I did this morning, a hearing conducted via Zoom.
